Can you get super-soft tires?

I've seen the opponents on Sports:Super Softs too, a while ago. I only remember it was B-Spec and well before 2.0, and that it wasn't a proper endurance race.

I assumed it was just a legacy thing from an early build left in that one event.

Nope, like people have already said, I reckon it'll be an update as I don't think PD would makes us pay for tires.

Then again we did have to pay for paints...

I don't think you get where he's coming from. what he's saying is that they are already in the game, on our hard drives (hence the OP managed to find them, probably through a glitch), but yet to be unlocked in a future DLC, whether it be paid or free.

I'm doing the Suzuka 1000km and it's all kinds of weird.

My guy has Inters on.
Next guy has Sport: Soft
Next has Racing Medium
Next has Sport: Super Soft
Rest of the pack are on Racing Medium.

Interesting. Hopefully PD will give us a better selection of tires in the future. I liked Forza 2s system for tires.

Had the same issue after resuming a B-Spec Endurance. NuRB 24H. All the Competitors running SSS's for the remainder of race, both in the wet and dry. They are actually a good choice for Endurance. They ran almost as fast as racing hards and the drivers could do more laps on them in the dry. The pace in the wet was a minute off the racing rains.
Gotta love how they crap all over your B-Spec experience to leak some info. Thanks for the well implemented Suspend race feature?
Anyone know if it happens for A-Spec endurance too?

In the Advanced level of the GT Rally tarmac event the AI use Super Softs. This has been discussed here quite a while ago.

We wont need to pay for a DLC with this as it will be unfair to other racers. Imagine Racing super softs? That would be insane for short races.

nice pic sir:) thanks 4 the information.....
another way 2 get your car faster with more grip hell yes

Thats crazy. It would be cool if they provided us with a Sport SS tyre. Something with the compound/grip close to a Racing Hard but with the sidewall response and breakaway characteristics of the Sport tyres. The regular Sport Softs already wear relatively quickly on a powerful car, though, leading me to believe a Sport SS tyre would be only useful in short sprints and time attack/time trials for many cars. I'm sure they would be great for the lightweights and less powerful cars.

While I'm not opposed to an additional tire type, what we really need is different durability for the existing types.

Otherwise the Sports Super-Soft will last just as long as Sports Hard, and just be quicker on the road, which will be kind of ridiculous.

I'm thinking (as others have said), that maybe there is going to be an update giving us more tire selections. But what would be really great, is if in that update, they have fixed how the tire wears down. Hence why they've been able to add more tires? :dopey:

I've heard noise about them being featured in the top Toscana rally, and if what I've heard about tire statistics in the game is correct, they're Racing: Hard by another name. Considering that they're being used on LMP cars, I wouldn't doubt it.

I was running the Formula GT Championship in B Spec. I suspended the series after Monza, so when I started it back up today I was at Suzuka. I went into the car settings to change my gear ratios, and after I was through, I tried to back out to the race menu, but was told "Regulations Breached." That's when I noticed that my tires were set on Sport: Super Soft and had the little red "no" icon beside them. It wouldn't let me leave the screen until I changed the tires, which I did, to Racing: Softs.

So I start the race. I start looking at my opponents' stats. Every other car is running Sport: Super Softs. As the race went along, I would look at the opponents' stats periodically. I noticed that their tires weren't wearing down at all. They did have to pit around laps 27 & 28, but only for fuel.

The car I was using was (of course) the Formula Gran Turismo and my bob was level 27. The AI ran Racing: Hard tires for every other race except Monza, which they ran Racing: Rain tires due to 100% track wetness.

I just thought this was something interesting to share with everyone. It appears (in this thread, anyway) that the last time anyone talked about this was about 5 months ago. Has anyone else had it happen to them lately? I saved the replay, and if I knew how to, I would show it.

That's a pretty cool find. I wish tires were more realistically relayed to real life. Or if they haves tread rating and tire compound of the tires.

I for one can vouch for the OP. It isn't photoshopped. I've seen the other cars use super softs and I was like, "Whaa? They have those?"

Can you get super-soft tires because I saw all the bspec drivers using it.

Ohhh... Thats where the fuel gauge is!!! :embarrassed: Yay! Now I don't have to estimate how long it'll take for my fuel to run out and go back to the pits!

Considering this thread started last year, I wonder if they've fixed it...

In the last week I've experienced them in both 24hr B Spec Races. At Le Mans in the dry it was annoying. I'm at the ring, it's been raining for the entire 20 hours so far and there is a Jag XJ13 and myself on racing rain tires and he's outpacing 2 Audi R8 race cars and a BMW V12 by 30s a lap.

Out of most of the cases this glitch happens, it seems to occur after a change of tires usually due to the rain. Circuit de la Sarthe is not the only place this happens, though, as this has been known to happen at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring as well. It also seems to happen on only the European versions of the game as I have yet to see any photo or video, or any case for that matter, with the Asian or North American versions. It's surprising how shallow the search results are on Google.

Just some input I'd thought I'd give from my observations. I'd like to test this out myself, but my PS3 is down right now, and I have the North American version, so I'm not sure if I can recreate this bug at all.
