Can't download GT7 to PS5 Pro

Setting up the PS5 Pro, did a data transfer from PS5, 100%. Select GT7 from the menu and it says "To play this game, insert the disk". Uhh, it doesn't have a disk drive. I bought the GT7 25th anniversary version, which is PS4 and PS5, Disk and Digital. I go to Playstation store, redeem, enter the 12 digit code that came with the game, and it says "The prepaid card could not be redeemed. Please try again later." Why can I not play the game that I payed for, and have been playing for the last year on PS5? Am I missing something?

Codes can always only ever be redeemed once and then, depending on their content either add the value to the wallet or the game/game content to the PSN account library.

The code itself only allows the download of the PS4 version, which needs to be selected so you can download it seperatly.

4. It is the PS4 version the code was for. It is NOT for the PS5 version, and either you need the disc drive or purchase the digitial version if GT7 for PS5

I paid for the "25th Anniversary" version so it would be disk or digital, just because of this. So, the game is not compatible to go from PS5 to PS5 pro? That's insane. The digital card I still have says it doesn't expire until 02/01/2025. It shouldn't expire at all. I paid for the game. It should work.

1. you paid for the disc version of the game for PS5, which came along with a code for PS4 (to make it backward compatible).
2. yes, it is compatible with the PS5Pro, but you dont fulfill the condition of having the disc drive of the digital license for the PS5 version.
3. it is not expired, once redeemed you always (as long as Sony decides that is) have access to the game/game content that was unlocked with the code .
4. on the code voucher it says "full version of the game for download on Playstation 4" (however it is phrased in other languages) which means by software it is the PS4 version of the game, which you can download as described just a few minutes ago.

So, when the Playstation store says right on it's PS5 Pro page, "Can PS5 Pro play all of my existing PS5 games? Yes, the PS5 Pro console can play all PS5 games." They lied. Did the PS5 Pro come with a hard drive? No it did not. So, no, it cannot play my existing games that I played on PS5. So, after spending 3 hours setting it up, I have a useless $700 brick.

You are making a fool of yourself, and the only thing to be angry about is your own comprehension of how game consoles work:
It was well known in advance that the console is not by default equipped with a disc drive - so of course you can not play anything that requires a disc being present, as this is basically just the verification of "license" and not needed for any content on the disc.

Also no lie: a PS5Pro can play all PS5 games, as long as their requirements are fullfilled the same way it would apply to the PS5.
That means you either need a digital license to play the game on any version of the PS5, or a disc drive on any version of the PS5 (PS5OG+disc, PS5OG-disc, PS5Slim, PS5Pro)
All of that is also to be seen on the Playstation Store:

No, I'm not making a fool out of myself. I thank you for your help, but I didn't call you a lier, I called Sony a lier. Again, this is simple. "Can PS5 Pro play all of my existing PS5 games? Yes, the PS5 Pro console can play all PS5 games". From Sony themselve. Right on their page. https://www.playstation.com/en-us/ps5/ps5-pro/ No caveats, no special circumstanses, no expllanations of the finer points of digitial download licenses, just an assurance that, yes if you played that game on that PS5, you can also play that game on that PS5 Pro. But, really, we're going to make you pay for the game again that you were playing already, and make you pay for a new game on a new console that is totally compatible with the old one. So, if it's totally compatible, why charge for a another game?

Just buy a disk drive if you have the game on a disk... Your digital license was for PS4.

With the availabilty that might be a bit tricky right now.
Or are they available somewhere I havent yet looked at their regular price?

I have no idea as I am not looking to buy a PS5 Pro, but if I was, I know I'll need a disc drive to use my PS5 games that happen to be on a disk.

Go to your game library and go to your collection look for GT7 select download.

The 25th Anniversary Disk edition allows access to the digital PS4 version. I’m sure this is clearly stated with the download code! If you have a slim PS5 then I’m sure that disk drive is compatible with the Pro, but if not, you’ll need to either buy a disk drive so you can, you know, use the disk! or if you’re dead set on the digital copy, then I’m afraid you’ll just need to buy it again!

Did the PS5 Pro come with a hard drive? No it did not.
If you bought a PS4 without a hard drive you’ve been scammed.
Can PS5 Pro play all of my existing PS5 games? Yes, the PS5 Pro console can play all PS5 games
If you seriously believe you cannot play PS5 games your mind has been scammed as well.

You need to read what has been said to you. Your digital voucher is for the PS4 version. Which your PS5 Pro also can play.

As others already pointed out: The 25th Anniversary edition has the PS5 version on disc, and the PS4 version as a download.
You are most likely unable to redeem the code as you already did so before.

You have three choices now:
  • You can download the PS4 version of the game (through your owned games list; but only if it was you who redeemed that code in the past)
  • Buy the disc drive
  • Buy the digital edition of the PS5 version.

If you've played on your regular PS5 without having the disc inserted, you probably played the PS4 version.
