I see if i can draw you that car sometime. 2 drawings from 2 people is better then 1 drawing from 1 person.

Rhino 3D? Never heard of it, I might have to check it out though. That's really good work I must say.

:odd: uh huh... ok... how did you pull that off? Rhino renders look like **** compared to flamingo. I hate Rhino but I used to use it only because it was so easy to use.

cant add image shack in edit...

These were made in rhino rendered in max a year ago. My scene set up skill are better now if i were to re-do them. I have more ram now to 1.5gigs.

I guess its all in the lighting i use 5 lights.... but i dont set up scenes in rhino much. but it is fast and simple.

Nice pics.

I may try to do one in Solidworks and do parts since I have a better puter now. Then render it with flamingo since it's the only renderer I have.

:scared: 5!? so is that the trick to getting it bright?? I've always used no more than two but lighting is a ***** with Flamingo for some reason.

5 normal lights it gets washed out and looks bad. My trick is to change all the lights' color to grey, since grey is not a true light color it just reduces the light output. Then i adjust the material either brighter or darker to look decent to compensate the poor light options. dedecated render engines have good light settings rhino has virtually none.

Models not 100% so theres no point in wasting a half hour converting all the parts to 3ds.

I've tried everything, all the setting under pref. Another irritation is the texture map (I think it's called?) When you give it a texture say CF and then turn down the size so the CF blocks are smaller don't stay at that size I set. It goes back to default for some reason.

Huh? didn't catch that...

Thanxs, I reckon using a ruler has helped me improve my car drawings. Don't you just love rulers at times mate.

wow. thats amazing. this is my first visit to this foeum and im very impressed. you guys are very taleted at drawing 3d cars. if i can find a way to scan and post some pics of my own i will. i draw car profiles (not good at 3d) in a program called autocad. im sure some of you have heard of it? anyways i design all my own cars using freehand sketch tools. i think they are quite good, but i wont toot my own horn. i would really like to show you guys so ill try in the next few days to get them here. peace.

i just realized this is a "drawing" form consistant with lead on a paper medium. can i post some computer designed pics? (i promise i use the spline tool for %98 of the drawing) the only precise tool i use is a circle for perfectly round wheels. whaddya say?

Here's a cartoony kit-car racecar thingy. Not getting the perspective right; I really should draw cars more. I've got time though, my portfolio is due in April 30th... 2007.

It's completely unedited, completely raw, expect for crop/size.

Any crits?

i think the shading & shape made it look toony, not really the perspective.. its much better than mine .. lol:

You've got a pretty solid start, but there are still some areas that you should look into. For instance, proportions on the wheels compared to the greenhouse. Even if you had 20' wheels, the side visibility would still be about 4 inches out the sides. Also, when drawing your wheels, try to do them in one stroke, not several. You can practice elipses on a seperate paper, eventually it'll get to the point where you can draw the shapes of the tires and wheels in one smooth stroke. Other than some proportion problems, you're on to a good start.

Apparently I have a tendency of being too harsh with my help, so I hope that didn't come out too offensive.

i was bored in class when i did that one... i didnt even have a decent piece of paper, but its my first 3/4 angle drawing :D and i like it.. kinda. lol

and as far as ur 'harshness' .. no prob, thats how i tell ppl too :)

The paper you use is important, but like you said, if you're in class, you don't have much to work with. Mine's also on school paper.

Keep drawing. It's a lot of fun, and gives you a good idea of design sense, and not only automotive but other product as well.

I figure if I don't make it in automotive design (most likely) I'll settle for a job designing perfume bottles. Just walking through a department store amazes me, the thought that goes into the different shapes and textures and colours going on in those things is surprising.
