I would put money on the majority of people in this thread (yourself included D'Avenger), easily surpassing my own drawing ability, way before they reach the age i am now.
And bare in mind, from what little training iv'e had (school and a bit at college), iv'e never really been able to take on-board what people have tried to teach me, as i'm not the sharpest tool in the box (ie: it's taken about nearly 20mins to write this comment,).
So really, i have great hope in my fellow GTP car drawing/designing friends (a lot smarter than me), in being able to achieve an even higher standard of drawing during their life's journey, so there's no reason to feel depressed at all. 👍
How old you think i am?

I mean, i have serious problems with proportions... they always get messed up, and to make it worse, that is what i would like to work with! (To be honest, i would prefer be a racing driver, but since that is kind of impossible, i will stick with car design)

But thanks, but i wouldn't consider myself "smarter". That's such a strong word.

I don't know, but i'm guessing your'e younger than me, if that pic you posted a while ago is anything to go by.

With regards to the proportions of your design work. I'm sure with a bit more practice you'll get more of an understanding of it, (i still struggle myself in that area TBH). I think when it comes to drawing concepts, it's maybe not the most important thing (i'm pretty sure Cano & AOS would agree), it is nice to see well thought out proportions, but it's not as important as the design itself.

I guess it can be a strong word, but when i'm measuring myself, i tend to look at the rest of my family and friends (peers in general)... they're a whole lot smarter than me (for their age), which is why i consider maybe you guys/gal , who are drawing/designing this stuff now, will be far more advanced in their techniques by the time they reach my age.

Yes, i am... i've just turned 21... i mean, today.

Sure, but it is just, no matter if it is a concept, always have someone to say: "these proportions are 🤬. Could do it better huh?"

I don't say they are wrong, they are right actually... it is just, it piss me off that i can't get it right without make my car looks like a box!

Ok, fair enough... also, measure yourself in a low standard makes you seek for improvement, i tend to do the same, i guess.

Happy Birthday!

Trying to keep this post on topic; anyone working on a new drawing? I'm thinking of starting one - but I've lost my tablet pen. :(
That's another question; anyone know where to get a Wacom Bamboo replacement pen? Everywhere I go seem to not sell them seperately..not even on Wacom's website they sell them. 👎

Happy 21st birthday! 👍

@ aadil, i agree we need some more drawings in this thread, and e-bay would be your best bet.. been meaning to get an airbrush for my intuos, but they're about £60-70 upwards.

[EDIT]

DarkAvenger, "i don't do a good car drawing". Not true, i think from what we've seen, your works pretty good (imo). I particularly like the way you handle your light sources.

Thanks, twice. Lol

But, i don't know, i think i mess up in many parts, it looks fake... i don't know, i think i have so much to learn.

To keep on topic, i was not planning to share this, but since this conversation started and i am a Corvette fan, and those renderings of the possibly new C7 design have sadden me, i tried a kind of retro styled one. It ended up like this:

t17LR.png

I mean, this is just the first idea i've had, so i drew it fast, and small (it is about 12 cm long). And the reason that i've put colors was to test paint it black, since i've never painted a car black before...

Edit: Yes, i know about the tires...

I think it looks great! DarkAvenger. 👍
As a retro design mixed with current Corvette style, i think it works very well.
If it was my design, and i could make a couple of minor changes, i'd possibly consider losing the front and rear chrome bumper maybe, but at the same time that might take away from the other chrome details (lights and the 3 strakes in the front scallops). I also think you've done a great job on the colour (iv'e never ever attempted a black car before).
Look forward to seeing more of your designs.

@ AOS. What Chevy?, the original Corvette, or maybe you mean the front of the Chevy Nomad concept?
I think for a retro design that tries to stay true to the original, it's hard for it to not look like either of those TBH.

It is because Thunderbird kind of looks like a Corvette. The thing on the hood, i took it out of the Corvette C2. The front was more like C1 60's and one headlight because that one.

But i will polish that idea better, draw some more concepts and when i get it better, maybe draw it in an A3 paper size...

I really like the idea behind it! Also the contrast where the light hits the black paint. Very nice.

:idea:Since everyones a critic here, I might add that the front tires look too skinny. But other than that it's great:tup:

Guess what, people.

I plugged up one of my old HDDs and have access to some old scans. But for now I'll start with a couple weirdo designs I made to apply for a job opportunity at creating some tech designs in the place my brother works at. Sadly, I sent them in too late and another guy got the job. I made several things including an, er, robotic fish, but these are the only two automotive enough to post here.

First, a dune buggy of sorts.

And then an urban electric car that sits two people in tandem.

I'll be posting more in the next few days, don't want to burn trough them in one single blow. I'm right now making web versions of several drawings so I can show them to you guys.

Cool dune buggy/ATV pic Cano. 👍
Love the super details and composition (dude standing on top looking through nocs = cool), not too keen on the sad face of the electric car, the rest of it looks good though (imo).

"Weirdo designs", could you explain why you call them that?, as i'm not familiar with the term.. they don't look weird to me, they look great (imo).

Really looking forward to see the rest of the drawings. 👍

Because it's weird for me to do stuff like this, heh. I made everything from planes to spaceships to computers to guns to a joystick. I think I also made a futuristic bus and a steam-punkish plane, but I think I didin't scan those.

now that I see the pic, the guy is enormous for the dune buggy. Have a Veilside Silvia instead:

Was the colour done in Photoshop or similar program?

Oh, okay i get you.
Hey, would love to see some of the spaceship stuff (done some weird UFO sketch a while back myself), futuristic bus would be cool to see as well.

I guess the guy is a bit big for the buggy, but i think that adds to the coolness of the drawing.

The veilside Silvia Car-toon = Awesome as usual (really love the effects of the CF). 👍

I found that I hadn't individually edited some of them, they were still in a big-ass one paper sheet-scan. Here are the rest of the sketches.

Here is the bus. Yes I'm lazy.

The plane stuff:

and other weird stuff like a steam-powered articulated tank:

a exploration submarine:

a horrible car:

And my favorite, the absolutely useless robot fish:

I'll post more cars tomorrow, promise.

Love this bus, cool train like double bogey wheels going on. 👍

Gorgeous plane ^, i don't know why.. but i can imagine it being part of the 'Gatchaman Phoenix', i'd fly the heck outta that plane, (also has a swift like aesthetic about it) Mega Cool. 👍

Love the pics man, the sketch style reminds me of what game artists produce as concept art for games. (My partner used to be a games artist, she didn't do much sketching.. mainly 3D modeling objects etc, so i use the term loosely).

Thanks bud. It was fun doing all that trash, was a big change from what I generally do. I should do it more often, lol. Years ago I used to draw this kind of stuff all the time. Then a time of drawing characters and cartoons hit me, and then it was cars all the time.

speaking of which, have an injected 1965 Barracuda.

After looking at the first plane, the sub and fish, I feel I need to work on my sketching. Not improving the accuracy, but just the style in general.
