I totally disagree! Buy what you can afford rather than by how old you are. There's nothing more real than spending your money wisely.

Don't have to deal with crap driving teenagers much, do you? Westchester has more spoiled, accident-prone, and flat-out-rude kids driving whatever daddy bought them. Yeah, part of it is a jealousy thing, but even if they had that 240DL they'd still try to cut you off -- at the last second -- not having the right of way -- then give you the finger for almost hitting them. I should carry a gun....

Also, part of that is the fact that they're so rich... they could probably get another of whatever they got.

Alright, my final peice of advice. This is coming from someone who has owned two cheap cars and ruined both of them (toatled the first, dropped the value of the second from $4500 to $300 in two years on the second) and is about to buy a third cheap car.

Don't get him anything over $5000 and newer than 1996. That's it. Honestly, spending any more is just stupid. If he wants a nice car, he can wait two-three years at least, when he's got a modicum of experience.

I agree pretty much, coming from a suburban-ite area where parents buy their kids brand new WRX's and don't even blink. But if he's buying his own car with his own money, guaranteed he'll take a lot better care of it.

No he hates German cars cause he tells me that everything from German sucks. Also I think he still has bad memories of my dads Beetle that we had a long time ago.

He also wants a new car. Its his own money so I don't care what he does with it.

I guess I could go along with that. So few kids around here earn their own keep (or earn their own anything) that I'd forgotten what that looks like.
