Car and Driver

I myself didnt subscribe to all of these. Just everyone in the familiy (or almost everyone) subscribed to a few. But these are the ones that we get all the time...

Yeah, you don't want to offend the Kiwis or the people on that dog-faced plate of land. Especially when you mock their birds.

Anyway, I only subscribe to Car and Driver.

Road & Track annoys me because of the big-page design and because they usually only have positive things to say about cars, while C/D will actually tell you if it's bad or not (read: over-optimistic). As for Motor Trend, I dunno... I just never really liked that magazine too much... sometimes I get the feeling they don't know what they're talking about.

Car and Driver has great reviews, and the material is entertaining to read.

Yeah I agree with you on Motor Trend. I wasnt the one who subscribed to that one in our house. I think it was one of my older brother's...

OH, my bad. I forgot to mention. Which one do you guys think is the best? Cause I'm planning on subscribing to one soon. Just trying to make a wise decision. :-p. I want a magazine leaning towards modern cars more, though.

"Car" has to be the highest-quality car magazine ever.

Found out today from that very magazine the next M5 will not debut until 2005 (two years off, for those of you who are Sagely slow). :( New 5-series is out in Britain 18 September, right after the 53-reg comes out. What a coincidence! 540's out in October.

Car is good.

The only car magazine I've subscribed to in several years is Grassroots Motorsports. They cover all manner of cars from new and old with an emphasis or doing things yourself or on a budget. Great technical articles, new-car and used-car reviews, racing and driving tips, plus good coverage of SCCA club racing, autocross, Pro Rally events, and other racing.

Well written and likeable; I highly recommend it. You can pick it up at Borders or some other big book shop/newsstand.

But, but... it has a generic name!

(two years off, for those of you who are Sagely slow).
Wisely slow? Herbally slow? Your logic is flawed.

Car and Driver and Road and track...my dad even got a few C&Ds from Japan several years ago...though there's very little related to Mazda in them.

I should subscribe to Car...

I read turbo magazine because it's more of a tech mag than a rice one....Super Street because it's funny and often features skylines....sport compact car becasue it's a well rounded magazine.....road and track....car and driver...eurotuner...and Import tuner because of the max boost comic....

Car is the most bias mag Ive read. Its good in the presentation, and alright in the photography department, but they surley have a narrow mind on anything british, if not, other european brands.

I read in the newsagents, sometimes buy the "Car" magazine, I like it quite a lot.

Anyone know any mags that are more for the Japanese market...and not a tuner thing?

Actually the best mags I get are Mazda FUEL and Zoom-Zoom. And FUEL always has a little take out freebie on the back cover...for May-June it was a RX-8 magnet. Before they've had a test drive cube(shows places sales people should take drivers on test drives), a Mazda overview mini booklet(says what Mazda does and stuff), and RX-8 post-it notes. Also FUEL goes more behind the scenes at Mazda, and deals with everything from the new models to dealership performance numbers and everthing. It's only like 25 pages though. But it's cool. Zoom-Zoom is a tad less cool...it shows new models and stuff and also has places to in your Mazda and stuff like that. And it's a quarterly(4 a year...) mag.

But you guys can't get them. Hah. Well if you bought a Mazda you can get Zoom-Zoom, but FEUL is only for dealerships and employees. And people with dads that match the above. ;)

 I agree to some degree; though they love European and Japanese cars about equally, from what I've seen.

Presentation is good - as I said, the most high-quality magazine ever. :D

Sport Compact Car. its the best :D
SCC is about 96% ads and 4% actual substance. I don't understand how it's even readable.

i have a copy of CAR from 1985. for about 10 years it was the only car magazine my parents could afford to buy me. then some guy from my dads work dumped his whole collection of top gear and autocar and motor magazines (about 150 or so) at our house, i was in heaven :D

as for the 5 (e60) i saw one on a trailer outside someone's house a few months ago in south kensington. since i didn't see it on the road outside their house a few weeks later, i assumed they had looked at it, seen it was **** and sent it back :P

I read CAR once at the bookstore at the mall. Was pretty good.

I am also subscribed to Dodge: The Magazine (get two a month since my mom owns a dodge and so do I)...

grassroots motorsports. and i get it for free, so road & track. r&t is good casual reading. you know, taking a look at come specs and pictures of the new enzo or whatever. I think it has a bit more of a sporting tone than motor trend or car & driver.

Performance Auto & Sound, SCC, C&D, R&T, Turbo... I usually just go to the magazine rack and pick up any car book that I don't allready have for that month.
