The "Black Widow" waiting for its pray...

This is such a beautiful car, but oh so deadly. My 420pp tune should be posted soon, so everyone can try it at the 'Ring. I have fallen in love (don't tell my wife :scared: )

Loving the COTW i have mine in Nero and taking her out to the ring when ever i get the chance.

Off topic: I still believe this doesn't belong as a "questions and answers" thread, instead it belongs in the "general" thread. Who agrees?

Lurking in the shadows of the Clueless Garage there is a black spider. Known for killing her lover after mating, this dangerous Spider spider would love for you to take her for a drive. Just don't fall in love, or you may end up.... dead. Look out for the :

Black Widow
Based on the Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 Duetto '66.

nrburgringnordschleife1je.jpg

In the day time the black widow withdraws into an isolated area of its web, which is covered in its own thick webbing, but in the night, it hangs motionless from the center of its web, belly up, in wait for its prey. When its victim gets entangled in its web, the black widow swiftly envelopes the prey by spinning an entanglement of web around it, and jabs it with its fangs to inject its venom. When the prey ceases to move, the spider uses its cheliceral teeth to mash up the wound it makes on it, infuses it with digestive enzymes, then carries it back to its hiding place before feeding on it.

She may not be as slim as others, but the extra weight is in all the right places (if you know what I mean :sly: ) Drive her calm and right, and you will be in love. Throw her around and you may be her dinner. :dopey:

Tuned the little lady up with 220HP and took her for a spin on a few beaten tracks on sports hard-she showed her fangs, but behaved.
Strapped on some sports softs---what a date!! Watched out for me, and nipped at the heals of any xxxxx coming our way. I'm in love.

I'm so glad I found this thread, I have had the little Alfa Spider in the garage for ages and had forgotten all about it.

I bought it because I used to lust after the real thing when I was a youngster. It had a strange attraction because I could never truly decide if the car was beautiful or ugly. All the same, one look and I'm ..

First thing I did was give the car a respray and replaced the terrible grey paintwork with Alfa Red. Then took it out for an evening spin on my custom track in the Tuscan hills. Oh, how I wished the soft top could fold down but mine was stuck - suppose you can't expect everything to work perfectly in 46 year-old car.

It was a nice drive, sweeping along the narrow, undulating curves but to be honest its a run that is better suited to cruising in supercars and the little Alfa couldn't get my pulse racing despite the sensuous Autumnal landscape.

So, I thought I'd take a short city break and called in at Rome, Monaco and London and blasting through the streets and cobbles of those enchanting cities, couldn't help but be in thrall of the sweet handling in stock form.

It was definitely worth spending a few credits to shed a little weight, get a stage 2 engine tune and basic suspension tweak to go hunting for gold on the Autumn ring seasonal at around 370pp. An easy win, with the Alfa deftly handling the circuit without any need for good driving skills or tuning nous.

Getting carried away on the moment, I thought this old thing could compete in Clubman Class C at GBRC and upgraded to 177bhp and 900kg. Unfortunately, I'd gone too far and despite the simple driving pleasure you get from this little Italian star, age has caught up. No doubt a skilful driver could make this car more competitive, but for me it falls behind the more modern MX5's and some of those sporty little Swifts and Lupos at that power/weight.

I may not have found a club racer, but I have got myself a new favourite for the 400pp A spec seasonal grind.

Here is my own 420PP tune for this classic Italian Femme Fatal.

The Outlaw Motorsports Garage tunes
Alfa Romeo, Spider 1600 Duetto '66, "Lucrezia"
So Turismo.M.G! started his Car of the Week series over in the Q&A Forum here on GTPlanet. Week one we got to check out the under appreciated Alfa Romeo, Spider 3.0I V6 24V '01 which the ole Wallbanger here turned into "Tough Love" an over achieving tune for the car given to Dragonthing from RKM as a Valentine. Now Turismo.M.G! decided that whoever was most creative during the week in their coverage of that weeks CotW would get to select the next weeks entry in the series. That parrothead krenkme over at Clueless Tunes made the winning entry and selected this classic Alfa Spider as the second CotW. Now ole Harvey here took one look at this Italian beauty and promptly challenged krenkme to a duel on the Nordschleife over in the Tuner Wars thread. Now CSLACR has a shootout going in the tuning forum on the Nordschleife and for its final round the cars will be tuned to 420PP which made a nice target for this Duetto duel, or so ole Harvey thought. He started by bringing the lovely Italian dutchess up to 400PP and running her in all the currently available 400PP seasonals where she charmed him while destroying the competition with ruthless efficiency. Bank account once more secure it was time to raise the stakes and get her set to take on the ring. That's when her ruthless and seemingly whimsical nature suddenly made itself apparent as she would be teasing the Wallbanger one minute with a thrilling drive only to suddenly fling him spinning into the surrounding scenery. Not about to let her get away with slipping foxglove into his wine ole Harvey set about turning "Lucrezia" into a proper respectable lady. Well his efforts have mostly succeeded though she can still be a bit of a tart and one must still watch that she doesn't poison an otherwise beautiful drive with a murderous spin. Of course thats half the fun of dating such a temperamental seductress, that extra spice of danger where you wonder who's really in control. Stroke her gently and show her a firm hand and she'll reward you with hours of pleasure. Treat her harshly and this Femme Fatal will leave you for dead somewhere along the road. "Lucrezia" awaits your pleasure, do you dare risk the trist?

Note: Despite reaching peak power fairly early the car does very good driving with an automatic transmission.

Note 2: While tuned for the Nordschleife the car can still be easily upset by the curbs there so some care must be exercised to avoid upsetting the car. The grass there is to be avoided at all costs as it is an almost guaranteed loss of control ending in one of the barriers. On a related note you need to drive this car around corners, any attempt to drift the car, intentionall or not, is likely to result in an off track excursion or spinout.

Note 3: For those who may not have caught the reference here are a couple of links about Lucrezia Borgia who has over the years gained in notoriety much like this classic Alfa.

Please visit the Tuner Wars thread to check out the duel between these seductive beauties!:gtpflag: Test drivers and fellow tuners are heartily welcomed and the fastest time will get immortalized in the Tuned Car section of the Nordschleife Lap Times thread.

This is a great idea for a thread! A very good car and a great battle over @ tuner wars. Looking forward to the next car 👍

Will try and continue to stage creative battles in the Tuner Wars thread with each new CotW. More test drivers and tuners are heartily encouraged to get involved there as it is a lot of fun and gives us a chance to see some of the CotWs possible potential.👍👍

Next week: another Alfa.

Just kidding. You guys are gonna love next week.

Just remember, no one can beat the Fusterkluc Speed Stars on our home turf.

Just caught up with the Tuner Wars thread and nearly wet myself laughing. So glad that this is growing. I will try and get more involved but Turismo time is limited at the mo, and my tuning style is rather haphazard!

I have, as you might have guessed, given McClaren the choice of car for next weeks COTW for his outstanding contribution and he is clearly getting quite giddy about the fact that he has a secret you all don't know! (Keep it quiet 'till tomorrows thread!).

So stay tuned for the next one, but I hope you have been enjoying the Alfa's as much as I have.

Two things:
1. It's not worthy of being called a song.
2. A Schwimwagon can't beused because it's too slow and would stall when it hit him.
Your second point is wrong, its a Schwimwagon it can go anywhere so he can't hide...

1. I agree. 👍
2. It might struggle with my manly man-ness of a man package. Or the large man pouch where my abs should be. :(
