Hello to everyone, this is my first post. I'm italian and my english is not good so much, so I hope that you can understand me.
I sign in on GTplanet because I need to learn something about car setup and I open this post to make my first request. I subscript to gt5 online tournament and I can choose between some cars:
- Audi TTS Coupe ‘09
- BMW M3 Coupe ‘07
- WW Golf V GTI ‘05
- Mercedes C63 AMG ‘08
- Ferrari California ‘08
- Maserati Granturismo S ‘08
- BMW Concept 1 Series TII ‘07
- Lotus Elise 111 R ‘04
- Jaguar XK Coupe Luxury '07
- Aston Martin DB9 coupe '06
All cars can be modified at maximum but I can't exceed the 595PP.
The circuit where the race will be held next "Circuit De La Sarthe 2009" (9 laps). I need a suggestion regarding the best car to use in this circuit (may be ferrari california?) and its setup. I know that in the forum I can find many setup but it is hard to find the right setup for the combination car/circuit.
I hope in your help and suggestion.
Thanx to all in advance.

I havr already seen this link but I don't find the combination car/circuit. In that link I can find only generic setup but not a particular setup for a specified circuit. Instead I need a suggestion about the best car for la sarthe circuit and then the setup for tris car.
Who tunes for La Sarthe?

Sorry I don't understand the question...i'm looking for a tunes for circuit de la sarthe, if possible for Ferrari California, I think it is the best CAR for this circuit in the list.

I know you are kind of leaning towards the Ferrari, but I was going to make a Mercedes C63 AMG ‘08 anyway so if you want I can make it specifically for Sarthe. Are there any tire restrictions?

The tires must be race soft. If you like Mercedes and you think that it is better than Ferrari I can consider to use Mercedes. Have you already a tunes for la sarthe circuit with Mercedes? Thanx in advance.

I don't really know which is the best car without trying them all. I know the Ferrari is good, but the Mercedes fully tuned is also good. I don't have a Mercedes tune yet, but I wanted to do one anyway so this way we both win. It will be posted in my garage "Team shmo" in the next couple of days.

The problem is that my race is tomorrow :-(

Lol well I'm not sure the time difference between us where you live, but I'm going to make it later tonight. It will be up by tomorrow morning.

I'm italian and I'm going to bed :D. The race will start at 9.00pm in italy but I should try the car before race. Howevere, thanx for your support in advance, if you don't will find a good setup for me I'll just thank you!

Ok I have no idea on how much time I have, but I'm thinking you will have lots of time to try it first and practice. I will have it up in a few hours.

Hey I made your car. It is very fast. I drive with a controller and am not the best driver and came close to your friends time. I also tried the Ferrari, but it was much slower than this. I think you have a serious shot at winning. Since it's 9 laps you may want racing medium or hard tires to last longer as I am not sure how long racing soft will last. Also if you do not get the spoiler you can have more horsepower which I recommend. I already had the spoiler on my car that's only reason I used it. Any problems let me know. I hope you win.

TUNER COMMENTS:

This car is for Sarthe. It is very fast and should have no problem winning as long as you are a good driver. Be careful when coming out of corners and remember to slowly accelerate or the tires will go red and you will lose grip. Give it a few practice laps first to get the hang of it. Always remember to follow your driving line so if the car starts going a bit to wide just let off the gas completely and coast until it gets lined back up again than back onto the gas.

I try to make some laps with this setup and the car is very fast but it soffers a terrible oversteer. Furthermore, the car suffers from excessive tire wear, in only 2 laps the tires are at 50%. My best lap is 3.51.6 and it is similar to time make with California (3.51.2) but with this car I can make 4/5 laps with the same tires without to do a pit. One pit is accettaple but not more, the race strategy could be wrong. Suggestion?
P.S.:
Your test are made in online or offline mode?

I had a look here at some of the tunes made for those cars. It seems many of the cars, when fully tuned, are still well short of the 595PP limit. So the Ferrari should be a good choice like you say and there are some tunes on the site for it that you might find useful.

Ya the car is trickier to drive, but it has like 200hp more than the Ferrari which will give you a huge advantage on the straights. Change your driving habits to pressing gently on the gas when exiting corners so the tires do not go red. It will feel slow, but trust me you will end up with very fast lap times. Practice more and I'm sure you will get the hang of it. A lot of times for tight corners brake before than just let it turn by itself do not press gas at all. It will make the turn better and you will not lose gas or wear the tires. I tuned it in offline, but tested it online at Sarthe and found it easier to drive there.

It will be hard but I'll try to follow your suggestion.

It's really not that hard once you drive it nice and slow. You are probably used to car where you can slam on the gas. Treat this one like a race car where any sudden movement could have it in the wall. They key for you is also the straights that is where this car will be able to draft everyone else and go super fast. I tried the Ferrari, but was 3 seconds slower than I was with this.

A good thing to do is turn the driving line on and do laps trying to stick as close as you can to the line. Brake where it tells you, gas where it tells you, but most important if you see the car go off from the line let off the gas and turn gently back until the car is lined up again than continue to add more gas coming out.

Are you racing online in a room now? You can watch me drive to see where I turn and how much gas to use for quickest laps

Ehi shmogt....I Win :D....thanks to you! Would you like help me for the next race too? :D

ahha you won the whole race with my tune? Awesome I told you it was going to be so much better than everyone else. Whats cars are in the next race?

The car list is the same, change only the circuit, it is Special Stage Route 5, 25 laps. What do you think about Elise for this track?

Maybe this car again only less power and more spoiler. I have to test. Or the Ferrari since it handles better.

Ok I'm waiting your test. However I try to make some laps with lotus and my best lap is been 1.20.

Ya lotus is looking pretty good. I tried the jaguar and it is good and feels super fast, but I think lotus might be easier and just as fast.
