Car, Tire, etc... questions (me=newbie)

ok,
This may be because Ive only been drifting gran tursimo 3 for about 2 days now but I cant get a car w/racing tires to drift worth a crap even if my life depended on it...ive tried e-brake drifts and basically everything and cant get whatever car im using (silvia, rx7 fc, the ae86 youve gotta win, and r34) to hold a drift. Its most likely cuz Im a newbie but Ill stick to drifting my rx7 on sims, but some advice would help. The only car I can get to drift on racing tires is my silvia k 2000 using someones awesome setups. Also what races do I need to win to get the lm cars (besides wrx, rx7 and camaro) that people here think are good drifters?? Also when Im attempting to put change the ratios to peoples setups I do the auto level they say and most of the time it wont let me go that low (like on my rx7 fc someone has a 1st gear ratio set as 3.000 and I can only get 3.260+ish). I dono what to do about that either...god being a newbie sucks:D

Oh yeah what do you guys prefer more racing, sports (i guess a few use them), or sims??

aiite, make sure u don't use super-softs.. They don't like goin sideways. Sims are the easiest tires to use to hold drifts. The more challenging part is getting out of a drift with those tires. If you decide to use sims, make sure ur car is around 200-300 hp, depending on the car.
It sorta sounds like you have TCS and ASM on. Turn them off. Try using Cuda's FC setup found here: http://hammer.prohosting.com/~ccimoc/drift/driftguide.htm
that might help lot. it did for me ^_^

I liek using racing and sim tires. Sometimes I feel like just flooring it and using only the steering to guide me through the turn and sometimes I like the sliding on ice feeling with sims. ^_^

I also wrote a little how-to for just RWD cars, and there's also a few settings there but not many at this point. Click the link in my signature.

Perg you wanna get "together" with me and make a little drifting faq... i have been meaning to do this for a while now and i think it is necessary now... too many people are asking for setups and such... we should teach them how to set there own cars up and how to get a basic idea of controlling different drivetrains while sideways (or at any slip angle for that matter)... what do you think... pm me if you see this so i know...

Hey, if you guys do, let me know and I'll add it to the FAQ post.

Can anyone give me a setup for (in your opinion) is the easiest car to drift using racing tires?? Or just some setups youve found to be really good for drifting on racing tires. Also, tell if Im right: To drift w/a car on racing tires you need to use a lot more throttle than one on sims (duh) and your inputs to initiate a drift need to be much more aggressive. Also any other tips you have will be greatly appreciated:D

I agree that someone should make a tip sheet on how to setup a car, drift it, etc. so I can stop asking ?'s you guys get every day:rolleyes: :D. Ahh yesss a WHOLE 48 hours to drift w/o school interupting:lol:

ok,
having some troubles here...Ive been trying to get the gear ratios on my rx7 lm car where pregatory's are but even if I move a few levels over and try I can only get the first two gears exact and then the rest are nowhere even close to his...I need some help on my problem so post away pleaz. Also, can anybody hold a drift through the first 2 lefts (after start finish line) at apricot hill 1?? I either go into the outside wall or inside wall dirt...Is there a way to make the car raise up higher or lower on the track during a drift?? Also, what do you guys think is the best part of the track to start out a drift on (left, middle, right, etc)? Any comments would be very nice
