Pretty nice for a beginner?

Toyo: Pattern's too in your face. Lower the opacity on the pattern layer.

zoxxy: Bonnet's a bit too light. Use the layers window (Ctrl + L i think) to darken it.

Didn't freaking work at all, I got all the way to where I position the carbon fiber layer where the desaturated hood was, then I pressed CTRL and clicked the desaturated layer, copy and pasted to a new layer and the only thing it pasted was the 1024x768 cf pattern.

I really need some more detail in the steps needed.

I never thought about CF until the CF thread in the GT4 pics section. I had to look around for a while to find the carbon fiber steps and found some with pics along with step by steps, and one talking about making a pattern to use. These pages are what I referred to do my CF. I don't think you should have any more problems with CF after looking the the first link.

This is the tutorial(It may not be easy but I think is the best tutorial) I used to get my pattern and did my first CF job>>>http://www.epc-crew.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=95&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Cool, I followed the tutorial of the first link and did it fairly easily, though the hood didn't look too much like Carbon Fiber but oh well.

I guess Jpec's tutorial is good too, I just didn't have straight up direction to tell what exactly I needed to click and whatnot, I'll do Jpec's tutorial now, it's pretty straight forward and we'll see what the outcome is..

Well, I dunno if the CF looks too good but I like it, this is my first Photoshop of any car, I also lowered it a bit and added some HID lights...

Also added some motion blur, gaussian blur, and changed the color curves a bit to give it a "bloom" effect and whatnot.

Try adjusting the opacity of the CF hood. I look at (have) pics of cars with CF hoods to give me an idea of the look. It looks good, keep it up. I haven't messed with PS too much but I'ma try lowering some cars.

I'm gunna try Jpec's way as I said earlier, I just never got around to doing it, for some reason I wasn't clicking some layers right, I dunno.

I'll update with pics..

Ok, I took a 360 Modena, added some Xenon-style lights, a nice cheap tint job, and a decent CF hood, and even an unnoticeable semi-decent lowering job.

Thanks for the CF tutorials both of you!

guys, dont get in the habit of using those lense-flares.. they distract too much from what you're trying to make stand out, and its a dead give-away that you haven't been chopping long [most people airbrush the lights on.. like i did with this saturn]:

Funny, You can't do it with photoshop CS. No way of distorting or shrinking tool that i know of in that program.... I wish I could do it. I wanted to carbon fiber my cat so It would save some weight. Its a fatass :(

Select layer.
CTRL+T.
Right click in the box (with squares at the corners) that's surrounding the layer.
Select the option you require.

Same as any other Photoshop since 4 i believe.

What do you mean by airbrushing? I have never understood that!

Looks good, but I don't really like CF with the clearcoat over it, I liek it as the raw look, without the reflections. I havn't seen anyone do that yet.

(just wondering, I know the twirl makes it look a little more realistic, but I havn't really seen any CF in real life that twirls, they are always just a little curved or none at all.)

If I ever get back into photochopping, I'll definitely give that a whirl. When if I do that I come up with something good, I'll post a modified version (and also advanced instructions for doing it all in CS, which I have now). Happy chopping. 👍

the best way to do Carbon fiber realistically is just to copy a portion of a real pic of cf, and overlay it over a darkened, desaturated hood...you can twirl it if you see fit, but it is the best way in my opinion...a friend told me about it...
