Cars Parked Backward in Home Garage

After much searching, I cannot find the answer to this.

After doing my B-License, I took the pink Citroen 2CV out for a lap around the Nurburgring. On returning to the garage screen, I noticed that under the garage door the car was parked backward - i.e. you could see its rear. Curious, I changed to another car - the Mazda RX-8 LM, and the rear still showed. This held true for all the cars in my garage.

This stayed the same, with the rear rather than front showing, until I bought a new car and selected it at the same time. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this, and if so, what triggers it? I thought it was quite cool and would like to make it happen again.

TIA 👍

If you won last race = Car facing forward.

If you lost last race = facing back.

This is an accurate - test it yourself ;)

Interesting - cos I still have a 100% win ratio!! I didn't lose anything... unless it came about from a practise run I had near the time, where I never got above 5th because I was against far better competition. :boggled: ill have to experiment further.

It seems random to me as well ... but good point about losing/winning races ... just don't want to lose a race to check it out :sly:

Yip ... when you go into your garage the car is facing backwards ... and then sometimes forwards ...

Lose a race and win a race and see what happens ... haha

The car was parked backwards? That's nothing - the crime is so bad where I live that when I got home last night my Minolta Toyota was on bricks :ill:

But wait it gets worse! I couldn't race teh Toyota because it's too slow without wheels, so I switched to the ZZ11 and raced that but couldn't hear any background music because the stereo had been ripped off!

On a serious note I thought mine was usually parked facing out of the garage when I just selected the car, then parked facing into the garage when I was finished with it. Of course, if it was true about it facing in when you lose, I'd never know what the front of the car looked like.

Absolutely correct! This has been aswered before btw.

You will also see the back of the car if you quit/retire/do not finish a race. I would assume that would hold true for a practice run also since you are not really racing therfore you cannot win anything.

As long as you cant lose anything - thats more important :scared: cheers for the info!

Wonder if anyone's got a screenshots of this...

What are you guys talking about. It's just a glitch. It has nothing to do with loosing races. Renesis, don't listen to them. The only reason why your car may be backwards when you take it back to the garage is because you are going back into the garage. If you take a car out of the garage and it's backwards, It's just a glitch. You'll see more of that and no there is no way to make it happen on purpose.

not a glitch.....

pick a race, run it and lose.....go to your garage and you will be looking at the rear of your car as if you drove it INTO the garage implying you need to work on your car to get better.

run that same race and WIN, go to your garage, you will be looking at the front of your car as if you (and your car) are ready to race again. Hence it is facing out ready to drive back out, implying your car was good enough and ready to go back out.

That's not what Renisis is saying. He said when he took a car out of the garage, it was facing backwards. Nothing to do with racing. It's a glitch

I don't think people are reading this thread right. Renisis said the following

"I changed to another car - the Mazda RX-8 LM, and the rear still showed. This held true for all the cars in my garage."

I will find out whether it is or not, but i dont think it is, rather a nice little feature by PD. I lost a practise, then went to the 'Ring in my 2CV - so i didnt "win" hence my car would still be facing backward, which it was - i only noticed at this stage. When i won a race, my car was facing forward again. But I have to test this to be absolutely sure, but somehow I doubt its a glitch.

I'm just going off of what you said. Sure the car will be in the garage backwards if you win a race or not because your going back into the garage. But when you go to select another car out of the garage and it's still backward. It's a glitch. I'm tell you. I bet you'll never make that happen again or for a long while.

I'll give you an example of another glitch like this one. Go to where you get your tires/rims changed. Then Go to "Today's Special" Scroll through the selection fast (Keep finger on the right directional pad) and stop on a rim before getting to the end. The rim that you stopped on will not be on your car. The rims just before the one you choose will show on your car. It happened to me plenty of times. It may take a little bit of you time to see this happen. Maybe in 5 or less minutes. It's a glitch.

Thats not exactly a glitch - you are fooling the CPU by forcing it to try and load quicker than it can. As a result, it loads the wheel before the one the cursor is on, because in trying to load and keep track of your cursor, it misses one out. What does it matter anyway? I cant say I'll be doing that everytime I go to Used Wheels.

i noticed the garage thing. perfectly normal, like its gonna affect the game

'omg my cars backwards OMGZ!!!!!111'

as for the rim glitch, who on earth is gonna care about that?

Main Entry: glitch
Pronunciation: 'glich
Function: noun
1 a : a usually minor malfunction <a glitch in a spacecraft's fuel cell>; also : 2BUG 2 b : a minor problem that causes a temporary setback : SNAG
2 : a false or spurious electronic signal

It's not a glitch at all. Figure out what you're talking about... and definately before you go calling every damn thing a glitch. Sometimes the car is facing forwards, sometimes backwards... either way it's not a glitch because neither way is 'correct' and there's nothing wrong with the game in that aspect.

Rim glitch - I dont actually care...

With the cars back/forward, I had never seen any mention of it, I wanted to understand what caused it to happen, thats all. Now excuse my curiousity if you will...

Re: Emtiph. Well said 👍 a glitch is something wrong; there is nothing wrong going on here. Just something different.

I like that!

I've noticed this too, but never really saw into it much.

And yea Automotive, you should really look into the definition of "glitch".

I'm sorry, I don't believe this is true.

Why? Because I've turned off my PS2 with the car nose-in, and turned it back on to find myself looking at the headlights. And vice versa.

It's random.

not a glitch! read the definition previously shown......

After you lose/quit/do not finish, WHATEVER car you are in or choose will face that way until you WIN something. After that, everycar you are in or choose will face forward until you LOSE/QUIT/DO NOT FINISH a race...

RIF!

i don't know about vice-versa, but maybe it resets itself since you turned off the power......

.... on later thought, maybe you turned off the power without saving so it still remembered if you lost or won the last race. just a theory. I f you had won then saved and turned off the ps2 before you saved again, it would still remember you having won last so your car faces out or if you lost, facing in.....

may have to test that tonight. thanks for the homework Duke! 👍

I've seen it both ways. I bought an A4 touring car several weeks ago. I haven't driven it yet; I did some license tests over several occasions. The car was randomly reversed, or sometimes not changed, when I turned on the PS2.

Weather it's a glitch or not. You don't loose anything. That's the main thing. I don't want to ge into any confritations with people on this fourm, it's just a discussion fourm. It's not that serious. None of you guys know the person on the other end of your computer. Be careful about your comments, It's a small world............................
