One of the facets I love about Polyphony is their ability to create iconic, plausible race cars. From the LM editions in the first few games, to GT Sport's Group entrants, it shows their designers can make some interesting - and divisive - race cars.

Of the base cars in game, which ones would you have liked PD to give the Group racer treatment?

For me, I'd have liked to see a Group 4 Focus ST. Given some of the aggressive styling like the TT Cup, but not the excess of the Group B version.

Another candidate would be a Group 3 M4. Sure, they have the M6 and the Z4, but the M4 could've been created in PD's unique style rather than having a genuine model represent the brand.

Over to you.

Toyota GT86 Gr.3
Mazda Mx-5 Gr.3

Now those are two I didn't think of but am now wondering just how cool they could've been.

For the MX5, I'm thinking it would need extended bumpers front and rear to meet the minimum length requirements, just like the 350Z needed for Super GT and the Peugeot 206 GT wore to count as a homologation model.

Such cars are ungainly but oh so fascinating.

Too many to name! I’d love the ability to transform a N-Class into a GR3/4.

350Z tops the list because I owned one until recently and it’s currently not in the game whatsoever

Yeah, that Gr.3 would need lots of reworking.
This raced among GT4 cars:

However, PD made this with a bit more heft

So, I'd like to think the Gr.4 ND would look more like the S-Tai version. Though, using the RF would be pretty cool. Shoot, now I'm going to "build" one and see how it goes in Gr.4.

This was in interested facet of GT5/6 when we had 1000 odd real cars in the game. But surely, while GTS is in its infancy, wouldn't we be better served with iconic REAL cars, and leave the imaginary stuff for when we have a decent selection of real ones?

If PD is willing to add more homologation special cars, I'd definitely clamor for a Volkswagen Beetle Gr.3 Road Car.

The existing Beetle Gr.3 is already insane enough, it would be cool to see what a road-going version of it would be like. Yes, you can argue we have the 911 GT3 RS but still...

Actually there could be some new homologation models of certain racecars I'd say would be very radical:

Ford Focus Group B roadcar (A meaner focus than the Focus RS)
Honda NSX Group 3 roadcar (A rear drive purist model without the hybrid motors that's also lighter)
Volkswagen Beetle Group 3 roadcar (It could serve as a nice homage to the Beetle RSI that stuck around until GT6).
Hyundai Genesis Group 3 roadcar (A bigger, more powerful Genesis Coupe won't hurt)
Toyota 86 Group B roadcar (AWD, atleast 500hp version of Toyota's hit entry level sportscar)

Yeah, I want a road version too. I also want to see an NSX Group 3 Road Car as a spiritual successor to the NSX-R Prototype LM Road Car.

This is based on the existing car list of GT Sport and such cars derived from it.

Hopefully they'll have aggressive styling to match their race class and some nice pre-set liveries to go with them. Well considering Polyphony has really done a great job in designing most of their fictional race cars...

Not very keen on fictional cars with so many real cars PD can put in the game.

Even some os the mentioned have real counterparts that can be used as base:

A45, Civic Type R and Golf GTI would make great TCR-spec Gr.4 cars.
Both the Civic and Golf have proper TCR versions, but the A45 could be based on BTCC version:

A110 Premiere Edition could make for some cool Group 3 and Group B versions.

Considering the field of Gr.2 cars are a bit short at the mo, maybe Gr.2 versions of the Toyota FT1 VGT, Mitsubishi and Subaru VGTs could vary it up a bit. Obviously some extra work would need doing to them to make them fit but might as well.

I would've liked to have seen a Veyron Gr.3 but it seems not many game companies are allowed to modify the Veyron too much. It's a shame Bugatti doesn't have an equal amount of motorsport coverage in the game as most other manufacturers, and being able to participate in the Manufacturer's Cup would hopefully boost 'em up a bit. Might as well blitz DeTomaso with Gr.3 and Gr.4 versions of the Pantera too.
Gr.2 BMW i3.
Gr. 1
take or leave it
Either way, it's this generation's version of the Monster Escudo. Bring it in PD! And make a Gr.2 Suzuki Swift too!

On a side note, maybe we should have a couple of VGT groups too to make them more playable. Similar to how they split them up in the GT League races e.g: Gr. V1, Gr. V2. No Tomahawks or anything like that though, the performance still needs to be tight enough to be fair.

I'd like to see a Gr. 4 and Gr. 3 A110. The GT4 is a real car, so they could use that and make up a Gr. 3.

Other than that I don't understand why there's a Gr. 4 Veyron, but not a Gr. 3.

I wish they turned the DS3 into a mental Gr. B machine.

The LaFerrari would make for a great Gr. 1 machine. Or just use the FXXK.

The Merc A45 AMG would be a good Gr. 4.

They could use the real Renault Megane Trophy as a Gr. 3 car or make their own.

Apart from that there should be a Gr. 5 class for TCR-style low-end touring cars. Plenty of hot hatches out there just waiting for the appropriate treatment.

Camaro SS Gr.4 (based on Camaro GS)
Charger Hellcat Gr.4
Civic Type-R Gr.4 (TCR touring car?)
Roadster Gr.4 (based on scrapped N400 Roadster)
A110 Gr.4 (probably the Cup version)
McLaren F1 Gr.4 (based on the Stealth Model)

Camaro SS Gr.3 (based on that Europe-only GT3 racer)
Veyron Gr.3
F40 Gr.3 (GTE?)
RX-7 (FD) Gr.3 (RX-7 TC)

DS3 Racing Gr.B
208 GTi Gr.B
Clio Gr.B
A110 Gr.B
F-150 SVT Raptor Gr.B
Swift Sport Gr.B

Vulcan Gr.2 (AMR Pro?)
