Guys, how does the game let you understand if you are overusing the steer, meaning rotating the steering wheel more than needed?
I guess that the steering wheel gets lighter, but G29 is light on its own, so I'm not sensible enought to estract info there.
If tire screeching sound another hint?

Is there any other techique I should inspect?

Thanks
This doesn't answer your question directly, but as a rule of thumb, you very rarely have to turn the wheel more than 90 degrees left or right. So unless you are in a hairpin where you might go to 120 degrees or so, you know you are turning too much if you are over 90 degrees.

Tyre screeching just shows you are losing grip. That could be because of braking in a straight line too much (front or rear tyres, or both, sliding), or turning while either braking more than you should, or having too high speed. Both tend to lead to understeering - where you turn less than you intend to and the front yres drag across the track rather than going around the corner. Turning the wheel more then just makes it worse; the answer is to go slower around that corner. You'd also probably hear (rear) tyres moaning on oversteer, but that is a more obvious thing to spot.

Thanks @half_sourly, for turning I'm not reaching those 90° you are speaking about.
The point there is that I don't even know if far I am from optimum, and in which direction I'm far. Since that whole thing also involves speed, racing line, weight transfers, to name a few, I'd like to improve my self-consciousness of where I am in looking for the proper slip angle.

Under braking I'm starting to put more attention to the red/white color of the brake input given in realtime in the hud. I noticed that when there is about 50% red and 50% white the brake action is not efficient (possibly ABS working too much?), and it happens when, for example, I'm not perfectly straight, or when I'm braking on a less grippy surface (ex, Redbul ring turn2 curb). On the other side when the red piece of the bar is smaller (20% o less), the brake action is more consitent and efficient.

If you are on a G29, then the best way to get the strongest feeling force feedback from it is to turn the force feedback torque and force feedback sensitivity up in the race controller settings menu and then only adjust the controller sensitivity setting down to suit your driving.

You get get a better feel for it then, once you are used to this, start to adjust the force feedback torque and force feedback sensitivity to suit your driving style better.

Force feedback torque = force feedback whilst cornering

Force feedback sensitivity = force feedback during driving straight and at turn in

Since the physics updates I've had the following:

Controller sensitivity = 4
Force feedback torque = 8
Force feedback sensitivity = 7

The only downside with the G29 is the rotation speed doesn't really help when trying to catch slides, and understeer is a bit of a hit or miss feeling.

That's why I'm now upgrading after the feelings from it in the AMG VC.

Decent lap considering that i'm not really good with GR.4 cars 👌🏻

I thought I was going to spend most of my time at Maggiore last night, but the quick gold I got in the S2000 was too close for comfort.

Going back to the S2K was a cascade of improving returns. Initially I wasn't super into it, but as I continued it just kept getting better and better. The CS tires allow for so much movement and slip which is super fun to manage in the Honda, and maximizing times at GV proved to be really fun and rewarding. After seeing that many of you were staying in third gear where I was using second the times just started dropping.

Ended up pretty happy with this one even though, as always, I know where there's still time out there.

STILL haven't started Maggiore yet! Soon...

Happy lapping... and mooing, or whatever else you all are getting up to!

Well, I had a little rainy afternoon time and I did a thing.

If it holds it will be my best finish. I'm pretty sure it will even if I get bumped a couple. Very very happy with this although my optimal in the session was a .650 ish. I'm just happy I was able to string together the lap I knew I had. What a joy it is. I guess these slow cars on comfort tires are really my jam.

Last minute stint at Grand Valley and managed to get gold, with a margin that I hope will hold until tomorrow morning...

This combo was really complicated for me, that car is really difficult to manage, wants to go everywhere except in the right direction. Understeers, oversteers, wheelspin, plus annoying track limits, happy that it is finished.

Did 5 laps the first day, 10 laps the friday after it went out, 10 laps last saturday and 10 laps tonight.

Got gold on lap 31, 35 laps total.

I want to say "I did a thing," but I haven't had one of my "miracle laps" in months.

Also, there are 5 GTPer's in the picture of that leaderboard alone. Insane.

At 1:20am, after 300km of trying to crack into 2:12, finally I was 5 tenths up on my lap record out of no where, only for it to be ruined by cutting a corner in the middle of the lap :grumpy: 2 laps later I managed to not cut any corners and pulled a 2:12.669 out of the bag. Optimum was a 2:12.551, probably if I didn't munch the Kerb at T1 I would've been into the .5s.

This was just one of those sessions where no improvements were being made until the final 5 laps where I all of a sudden found half a second. I wish I had found it about 2 hours earlier so I would have time to give the Redbull another try to get a more convincing gold. Guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed that the times don't fall any further until it ends :scared:

I think this might be a new personal best ranking for me, and what a car to do it in. VTEC really kicked in.

I managed to go sub 20 at least, which was the goal! So that’s cool... But it wasn’t really a tidy lap though, or well up to the karussell it was actually pretty good but being on controller I flew off the karussell, dove back into it, lost tons. The following sectors which is a part of the track that I love weren’t that good either, tried to scale the performance back a percent or two but didn’t get my lines correct, either turning in too late or misjudging the cornering ability and turning too early, up bouncing on kerbs and ****.

Oh well, glad it’s over. And I’ll say it again — retire the X2019! Time’s up for this thing.

Dude. I know this feel. It's been a minute since I have been deep. Def have felt myself lacking. I needed this one. 😂🍻🍻
Broooo... 28th in the world?! What a master! I know you love the loosey goosey rwd stuff as much as I do, but this is taking it to the stratosphere. So buttery smooth, and that throttle control is *chefs kiss!

I'm too much of an ape to be that smooth because I'm always giving into slidey temptations!

What else can we say but congratulations on leaving your earthly form and transcending up to the mother ship!

Also, @linksracer in 20th place?! What has been going on around here while I was gone?!

GTP board is on FIRE!

Yeah, you gotta be speechless at being the 20th best driver out there. Well done commander. Keep up your superior skills.

@330_D Wow mate, I'm amazed at that lap you ran today. Magnificent work!!

Great Job Reaction GIF

Such a frustrating session, I improved my time in the first 10-ish laps and then drove around for 2.5 hours doing nothing.

I had a majestic lap at one point, with a .364 S3 split, which would have been a zero lap, possibly top 10 even, if I just did my usual S4 time, but no, stuffed the sausage, bounced like a kangaroo and lost everything. I don't know if I have the motivation to go again, I know ~.150 is doable without any miracles, but we'll see... Maybe if @bliprunner decides to improve his time :D

Ughhhh, tell me about it. I had another 2 hour today and found an optimal of 4.197 but only managed to improve by 0.031. So I'm sitting at 4.5xx and feeling highly unmotivated to go back.

Similar to you, I had a lap that was 0.250 up until the very final corner where I botched the exit and scrubbed all my speed away trying to find turn in speed 😭.

I did a 2 hour session at the ring to try to get back into silver and failed. In that time I only managed to complete 5 laps. All others were invalidated.

This was my best and was on pace for a sub 6:29 time when I wobbled at the last corner and lost.7 right there.
IMG_8857.jpeg

All other laps where I was significantly up I later invalidated the lap.

I probably could have got into silver but I only had time for two sessions. It was a tough one!

That’s quite a drop in ranking after being top 60 last week 🤣

Nice! Enjoy your new console bud.
It's a big step up in loading times compared to the PS4 and I am sure you will enjoy the haptic feedback from the Dualsense.
Thank you mate, I certainly hope so. Good bye ps4, I felt it was much slower. Now I can enjoy some fresh new TT's once I get my console set up, can't wait for the action.

Morning!

First ran Maggiore again, 2 times bettered my time.....🤣🤣

1000028240.jpg

🤣🤣🤣.....

So went to check out the Renault, yes.....it drives like one, does oversteer as much as my renault does 🤣🤣

Funny little challenge, got myself fairly quickly into the 25's
We will see where it brings us,

Congrats to all you fast bastards that kicked me down in the S2000 and to all that bettered their times!

1000028239.jpg

Still not to Shaaabbbbyyy at all!

Happy lapping folks

Not gonna lie, I wanted that one. Chuffed was able to nab this one, especially when my first completed lap was 10+ seconds off (a big learning curve this this combo). Glad my time was able to squeak through. Like many others I am sure, I was up on this by a ton multiple times late in the lap but could never quite bring it home: I'd hit a curb going through the quick back-and-forths that you can try and cut through towards the end (Pflanzgarten) or lose it coming out of the second carousel; heck, one time I even zoned out going down Dottenger and blew the braking point for the last turn.

It was close enough in the end that presumably any new top time and I'd have been bumped. I'd have been bummed had it mattered but it didn't. And like Dom says, "It doesn't matter if you gold by a second or a thousandth, golding is golding!" And you can't argue with Dom!

(Pay no attention to the alts, I knew it'd be an easy silver so one-and-done there.)

Oh yea, and the Honda one too. Easy-peasy, I'll take that 4mil cash today for sure!

I've not done all the TTs, but these two make the gold count go into the double digits (101) while pulling in seven silvers (I am still mad about two of those!) and zero bronze. 209mil in the bank from TTs alone. Adding this to the game was a great idea by PD and it's one of the better harnessed aspects of the game IMO.

Oh great, so overnight some wise guy improved the gold time at Grand Valley and I ended up in Silver :grumpy: Not a great deal I guess, I didn't like the combo anyway. Into Gold at Maggiore, will look to improve there and had a quick blast around Goodwood in the Megane and it seems fun so hope to do well there

The guy who already had the WR and was some tenths in front of n°2 and 3... I just stayed in gold this time.
