Cars removed !

I noticed they've updated car names as well. All vipers are now under SRT. However, I wouldn't believe the list to be 100%. They have the Chromeline and Stealth cars, and I even saw this:

179Audi Auto Union V16 Type C Streamline ’37

This may be an official list, but does that mean final?
I highly doubt it. I will be waiting until December 6th, 2014 to worry.

I almost lost it before I realized that...

I hope that Auto Union is driveable... It was such a waste of a car in GT4, just like the old Mercs and the Ford T... just available to use at the Ring...

What do "basic models" mean? There seem to be clear duplicates.

The GT 5 RM upgraded cars are simply listed as cars...

Probably still standard too.

They said that all of the cars from GT5 would be included, does that mean the list on the front page is is incomplete or does it mean they were lying?

The WRC + F1 cars is no small deal.

They are not definitely out, PD may just be wrangling with licensing issues for all we know. I would hope if PD can sort out one of Senna's F1 cars for the Senna DLC, the could get the Ferrari's back as well.
As for WRC, while I will miss them, I always preferred the older rally cars, so it's not as much of a big deal.

This!
I haven't liked the WRC since the days Toyota pulling the GT-Four.
And of course the days of Sainz-Moya in the best rally car ever, the ST165 are still magic today and sadly it seems we won't ever see anything quite like it anymore :(

Dodge Challenger SRT8 Touring Car
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X Touring Car

The Dodge is listed under SRT. The Evo is renamed Rally Car (as it should be from the start IMO).

The Dodge Ram is now listed under its own manufacturer too (RAM). I checked wiki and apparently Dodge has now split into Dodge, SRT and RAM. You learn something new everyday...

On the subject of removed cars, I just calculated the numbers:

1197 - 124 = 1073 (GT6 cars ported from GT5)
1111 (total GT5 cars including DLCs, according to mygranturismo.net)
1111 - 1073 = 38 (GT5 cars missing from GT6)
3 new standards returning from GT4 (Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Click, Auto Union)
=> 41 cars missing

Here are the 41 missing cars:

2 Ferrari F1s
4 WRC cars
Ginetta G4
Jensen Interceptor
350Z GT4 Ltd Edition
370Z Tuned (Academy Version)
GT-R SpecV (Academy Version)
8 2012 GT Academy cars
Schick Camaro SS
Stealth Academy GT-R (http://www.mygranturismo.net/car_sheet.php?id=1048)
Gamestop NASCAR
Corvette C7 Production Version (listed as new to GT6)
8 "Standardized" Premiums (Tuscan, Tamora, Camaro, 300SL, Elise, Esprit, Enzo, F2007)
Standard XJR-9
2 Ford GT '05 (Stripe & No Stripe) (listed as new to GT6, single model now)
Cizeta V16T (listed as new to GT6)
Bentley Speed 8 (listed as new to GT6)
Corvette C2 (listed as new to GT6)
2 Countachs (listed as new to GT6)
Lancia Stratos (listed as new to GT6)
Lotus Europa Special (listed as new to GT6)

Strangely they've kept the Alpine A110, Veyron and Shelby GT350 as both returning and new (they have different years though, and the new Shelby is not the R model).

With the loss of Top Gear Test Track, I can't help but feel we've taken 2 steps forward and 1 step back. I hope they put the F1, WRC, Ginetta and Jensen back in the future. The others are rightly scrapped since they're dupes.

EDIT: The WRC cars has now been confirmed to be returning 👍

Most likely they just lost the license for the F1 Ferrari cars and the WRC License. I wouldn't get your hopes up about them making a return if that's the reason.

That's the only reason I could think of...but, at least we know they have them on tap for if/when the time comes

That's my thoughts too. I just hope they can reacquire the licenses somehow. I don't think Codemasters and Milestones has exclusive rights do they?

It's a shame as I was really looking forward to driving the F1 cars with the improved physics...

As for Ginetta G4 and Jensen Interceptor... maybe they are premium cars now and that's why they are removed from the list.

WRC cars probably will be back, just with some minor differences and renamed to something like Subaru Impreza Rally Car '08.
Unfortunately I have no idea what they can do to overcome licencing issues with the F1 cars.

And again it (the list) is not final. There are some already confirmed cars missing (like the new AMG cars) and I don't believe that there won't be any new Audi RS or BMW M model.

I think they should've kept the old Vipers as Chrysler's and Dodge's since that is what they were when they were made.
Fully agree....that seems odd of PD. But I did here the split up was a little rough so maybe legality issues played a role. He said she said though who knows

Can anyone tweet Kaz about the Ginetta G4?
edit Interceptor too. Both cars 'standard' in GT5.

The Ferrari F1 cars...
its a shame PD remove the Ferrari F1 cars!!!!

It looks like some of the premium upgrades have been taken out from their standard form which is nice, I will miss those 2008 WRC and F1 cars though :(
If PD remove WRC 2008'cars...........maybe they ll add WRC 2013'cars........

I don't understand why PD always does this, with every new GT they make these strange distinctions between brands for no reason. The first and second generation Vipers were sold as Dodges, there's no changing that. They did the same thing with Datsun and Nissan.

Strangely they've kept the Alpine A110, Veyron and Shelby GT350 as both returning and new (they have different years though, and the new Shelby is not the R model).

The difference between the A110 1600S in '72 and '73 was a slightly bigger engine (40cc's more in the '73), so I guess it can be considered new, in the same way they consider Miatas with less difference (trims and such) between them as different cars already.

The difference between the '09 Veyron and '13 could be more significant though. It could be the Grand Sport Vitesse, which has around 100 more hp.

Milestone have the licence for the 2013 cars, I presume it's an exclusive for them :(
Ok.....how about 2012 WRC cars ??

I won't miss the Ferrari F1's. After all, they couldn't really be used anywhere.
Shame about the WRC's though.
I used them on Monza; Spa; Suzuka; and plan to use them on Silverstone......too bad ;)

I assume that there is something in licensing that they follow their orders...

I mean, chew on this: Mini is owned by BMW, but are they BMW's? It's two different companies right?
Well Ram started out as a series model truck under Dodge. Following their diverging, and from what I read when they first did so, they wanted to create their truck market by themselves, rather than having the Durango take place of trucks. Why do you think that the cheapest 1500 you can get is 24K, but has no features as standard that you would find when they were first with Dodge.

And the whole SRT and Viper thing... SRT is like Quattro GMBH. They are not a part of Dodge (or Audi) yet they make parts and cars to be badged as the parent company. Recently (talking about the Viper-SRT spiel) SRT acquired the Viper patent and now they can make it rather than having Dodge make a flunk market. Quattro GMBH makes all of the S, RS, and any parts for Audi Sport racing. The same thing used to be with SRT. They made all the SRT4, SRT8, and SRT10 engines for Dodge. They also did the racing parts and ect...

So really it is a matter of the rights were handed down. Why they made the old Vipers into an SRT category? Most likely due to the fact SRT owns the rights and patents for all things about the Viper. That is why you see little to no sponsors from Dodge for the SRT racing.. Although they might contribute monetary funds, that is a toss up to be found.

8 "Standardized" Premiums (Tuscan, Tamora, Camaro, 300SL, Elise, Esprit, Enzo, F2007)
Standard XJR-9

They were never listed as different cars. In GT5 they had both P and S by their name, as they also could be imported from GT PSP.

Wish they'd provide explanation as to why these seemingly random cars were dropped.
