hi guys, i’m not good at setting cars up at all, so I always use the engineer. What i’d like to know is:
1. Is engineer enough to set cars up without going through to the jungle? (Setup is a jungle for me, that’s why i haven’t been playing assetto corsa anymore)
2. After following engineer’s advices i overwrite the setup, it means that next time i use that car on that track i’m gonna have my setup or every time I reboot I always start with default setup for that car?

1. The engineer gives some good advice but leaves out the dampers completely IIRC. So IMO it's ok but sometimes not enough.
2. You can't overwrite a default setup. You just can overwrite your own created setups. That's why it's important to always load your desired setup upon session start.

1. Yeah i know the engineer is limited and he doesn’t help you to set lot of things like alignment, dampers and tyres, but I really don’t like setting cars so he’s gonna be enough for me.
2. I don’t load any setup i just hit the track and when something is wrong i call engineer and change something then the game asks me to overwrite the setup called “loose” i say yes and go on. So I thought that the default setup for this car and that track doesn’t exist anymore, i hope i’m wrong

2. You definitely should manually load a setup everytime you start a session. Make it a habit, it saves you lots of headaches, believe me.

I always load the stable setup, do a few adjustments, then when I save it makes a new setup file.

Whenever I play I just choose a car and my last-saved setup is there already, haven't had to manually choose from the list every time.

Recently the game has been working for me but I do still get the occasional randomness where it's put different tires on my car for no reason.

Explain me well please, i pick a car then what should i do before going out of the pit?

Start the session, click on "Tuning Setup", then "Load Setup", choose stable or loose one, "Edit Setup", Save as new file and give it a name. From now on, always load that setup before using the race engineer or leaving the box.

****.. and everything i did up to now?! I messed up default setups?
You can't override the default setups. You should still be able to see Stable & Default SMS setups even if you didn't rename your own save.

So when it asks me to overwrite loose setup and I don’t rename it, it is legit just for that session, I didn’t overwrite the loose setup for that car for that track right?

You're just creating a new one this way, with the same name but different author.
Just open that setup screen and check how many setups there are.

Hey folks, since i suck at setting cars up, so i need some advice:
1. When do you set your cars up? During online events? During career? During practice?
2. When you save a setup it’s only for that track?

I’m gonna be grateful for any other advice!

Please help me!!

I don't bother! I just race them on default settings.

If you are new to the game it is definitely worth learning how to drive and race the cars on default settings first before you start doing any suspension tuning - you will need to alter your style slightly to suit different cars i.e. for some cars don't change down for corners until revs are very low to avoid spinning out or brake early and get back on a gentle throttle around a corner to avoid snap oversteer.

If you are interested in racing default setups with no driving aids, click on the blue links in my signature for details of current race series.

I use real driving aids, it seems the way. I watched lot of videos and read thousands guides about tuning because i owned assetto corsa, but when i tried to fix something on my own, my car got even worse than before, so I thrashed assetto corsa and i got pc2 because of the engineer.
I agree that driving style and track knowledge is 80%, and i know pretty good some tracks, but a good setup makes you faster and this is a fact! But i’m tired to go through, i just need some little advice, for example: it’s better starting from loose or stable setup? From there on i just ask engineer what’s wrong and he fixes!

I don't really do much with spring/damper rates, but I do tend to do the following for almost all cars...

1. Choose the tyres manually if a soft version is available
2. If the car is spinning when you change down whilst turning set the 'engine braking' to a high number which prevents this (in the gearing section)
3. Reduce fuel load for short races
4. LSD coast is a powerful setting for reducing snap lift-off/turn-in oversteer
5. I'm running authentic assists, but for cars with stability control I manually take this off as I find it horrible
6. Traction control is a good aid for wet conditions in powerful road cars
7. I adjust aero for tracks with long straights like Le Mans (reduce), and for wet conditions (increase)
8. Reduce 'brake cooling' for cold conditions (helps maintain tyre temp)

Stock set-ups are mostly pretty good though.

Thanks for advices.. i left real aids because I thought it was the way to go, is stabilized control so bad? Is there a way to left real abs and traction and just turn off stability control?

If you set the assists to "Full" with just ABS and traction control in the options menu, you can use the in-car management feature to toggle stability control as needed, whenever you like. The stability control toggle in the ICM will also toggle traction control on/off if you disable traction control in the options menu, since the systems are tied together.

Between the ICM and button bindings for the assists, you can do "real" assists manually to suit your preference. 👍
