If I remember correctly (and I do) the Fairlady Z concept looks strikingly similar to the production 350z. The only big difference is the lack of center dual exhaust.

A Concept car is made to shoe the public what the car company in question has in mind for it's future and it what direction they're headed.

In general, you're right, but there have been cases in which the above is untrue. In 1992, Dodge made a concept called the Viper and began receiving pleas (and checks) in the mail demanding they produce it, so they did.

The Mecedes Benz A-Class Twin Study- a normal looking Merc A-Class with 2 engines, one under the bonnet and one under the rear seats. Mika Hakkenen and David Coultard had 'em when they raced for Mecedes-Mclaren

sometimes concept cars are made just for call the atention of the market ,but sometime they wanna see the reaction to the product, and see if is a good deal crate such a thing.(or just because they wanna call the atention of the brunei sultan )

and mazkid i'm not sure but i think the rx1 was made but was called R100,i saw a few of those long time ago.
