what cars do you have that are tuned, that people may not expect to be a good tuner car?

i haven't any yet, but im keen to find some

Jaguar type S R. Its a limousine.:)

Wasn't there a thread, only a week or two ago, which had the same purpose - finding sleeper-cars?

I thought sleeper cars mean mid or low powered every-day cars which are fun to drive/relax?

The S-Type is a limousine. The S-Type R, with the R-suspension and 400hp 4.2 litre supercharged V8 is a warp-capable Gentlemen's Club.

It's got an R badge. Everyone knows R stands for Rpeed...

Sleepers is a name for cars which don't look like much, but have performance under the "sleepy" exterior - the opposite of ricing. Sleepers can be anything from supermodded cars that only look stock, to stock cars which are fast, but don't look like that.

Although it has a 6 speed, but it acts like a 5 since the last gear is a fuel efficient gear, in other words, it is there just to have a low engine speed, therefore saving fuel. So you'll notice the engine speed drops a lot and I mean A LOT. guess what, it can reach a higher top-speed in fifth then six. :dunce:

Beg to differ.

Almost all top gears are there for that reason - low revs at motorway cruising speeds (70-80mph) - and, at peak power in top gear you will be at a lower speed than at peak revs in the next gear down - but at peak revs in top gear, should the car be able to achieve it and push past the aero limit, you will be going faster.

In the case of the S-Type R it's immaterial - the car is limited to 155mph anyway.

I know that the S-type R is a really fast car, but 155mph is just not enough to go with the m5, e55 amg and rs6. Maybe some mods can help it push past the aero limit :dopey:

They're all limited to 155mph from the factory.

Is this limit similiar to the japan 280hp gentlemen agreement, where every company has to follow??

pretty much. For German cars, the autobahn, while technically having no limit, has an agreed suggested speed of 130 km/h(about 80mph). 155 mph is almost double that speed, and since driving at 155mph when everyone else is driving 75-85 mph is rather dangerous, companies do this both to preserve their customer base and to lower the company's chance of liability due to negligence.

The Subaru WRX STI spec C It's my fastest road car around Tsukuba (51's) faster than my AMG SLR and only 3s of my best time in my F1 car

Isn't it a bit too tough to beat a car with a PWR of 0.6 with a car of a PWR of 2.x at least? Either that, or you drove the F1 really bad.

On what tyres?

nope, so the S-type R can go about 170mph and the m5 & e55 amg can go 180+👍

The M5 will hit 210mph on Hunaudieres. And then crash into a pack of 186mph Lotus Carltons*

But, as pointed out, the S-Type R isn't limited to 155mph by aerodynamics, but by an engine limiter, exactly as with the M5, E55 and RS6. Nevertheless, this still means that the S-Type R doesn't have a higher top speed in 5th than in 6th, like you said.

*UKGTPV gag.

TRD Celica
I know it seems silly to say the name of a "tuner" car in this thread but most people just don't think of Toyota and Celica as names to associate with tuning. Suprisingly though, the TRD Celica is one of, if not, the best FF car I have in my garage. 👍

I'll be back around with my picks for MR, FR and all the others a little later. :D
Edit:
Here you go! Jaguar E-type. :P
Used that for the european enduro series because it was my first prize car to fit the bill. Ended up being able to take max power easily and never stepped out of line even without settings work (too early in gt4 for me to try).

toyota prias (sic)

i have a fully tuned black one with a wing and those dark late model RX7 wheels. not the fastest of cars, but a lot better than the stock prias and it looks awesome. will post a pic when i work out how :)

well, take it out for a spin on photo drive, or phototravel, save the ic onto a memory stick, upload via www.imageshack.us and use the hot link for forums code and paste it here
