Cars with tall gearing

Thanks PAPPALCART. If only more people cared about technical data, perhaps PD would fully return proper gearing charts & horsepower charts. I'm hoping they do this for GT5. The first Gran Turismo & GT2 had these charts, then PD dropped them from GT3. GT4 brought them back, but they're virtually useless because they're not as detailed as they were in the first 2 games. 👎

Thanks

The charts you are talking about were not thrust curves. Those curves showed only the speed range of each gear, and when gearing was modified the speed range of each gear would change. It's easy to work out the thrust of any engine, you just need the gear ratios including final drive, tyre circumference, and of course the torque curve and at which point torque is produced at small intervals across the rpm range.

You should download the free apelit from cartest 2000 and have a play yourself. (it is a motorcycle apelit and not car)

Yea I know. I was just saying I wish more people were interested in technical stuff. It might force PD to bring back those graphs.

I'll download that apelit you were talking about when I have more time. 👍

Cool, yes I agree totally. I would love PD to introduce Thrust curves! That way, optimising gearing would be a whole lot better but I do wory that some of the less tech minded may suffer.👍

Long gearing is great for drag racing, full throttle takeoffs without tcs are awesome.

Oh, and hitting the nitrous in 3rd won't result in wheelspin!

anyone else know any other cars that have tall gearing?

Any Corvette from C4 on...6th is pretty much useless

NSX (sort of tall, although by the time the car is making near-peak mph, its tach is high up in the revs).

Camaros--4th generation, not the earlist ones. Again, 6th is useless

Chrysler 300C...5th doesn't see action while the car is stock.

2005 Ford Mustang GT

Honda Odyessey (5th doesn't see action, sometimes even while power is upgraded).

various modern Jags.

Pretty much any Benz from the luxury level. 230 Kompressor is one exception here.

Saleen S7

some R34 Skylines

That's all I can think of for now...
