Cars you can't believe didn't come to GT Sport

I posted a photo of the Suzuki Mighty Boy to this thread and the mods deleted it, there is a clear anti-Suzuki Mighty Boy agenda in this forum and I wont stand for it

I miss this little bundle of joy...

Probably the Murcielago as I'm pretty sure its name was mentioned in the credits screen along with the Diablo/Countach/Miura before they were added
LFA seemed like a weird omission too, along with the Castrol Tom's Supra and the Audi R8 road car that is represented in Gr.3 form

It's a shame Bentley, Cadillac, and Lotus never made it into this installation in the franchise. And I'm personally sad the Volvo C30 T5 never got carried over from GT6 (only because I have a Volvo C30...).

There are plenty of classic GT-staples which are notably absent from the game, and the S15 is certainly one of them. The Mines and Nismo R33 and R34's. Citroen Xsara, Hyundai Accent, and Ford Escort rally cars. Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak, or the Tajima E-Runner version, although that doesn't really have a place in this version of the game. Many, many more which are notable exclusions.

Found an old interview with Kaz about all the cars he owns. I think they all made it into GTS.

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/every-car-gran-turismos-creator-has-ever-owned/1100-6453866/

Toyota Corolla – This was the first car in which I experienced understeer. I raised my cornering speed a bit at a time every day, and one day, the front tires started sliding and I experienced understeer.

Toyota Supra - This was the first car I practiced drifting in. When it snowed in the winter I would line up pylon cones in a parking lot, and practice slaloms and drifting.

Nissan 300ZX – This was a difficult car to drive. Just changing lanes on the highway while on the throttle would make the car oversteer and dance on the road.

Nissan GT-R (R32) – This was the car in which I first experienced what a high performance sports car is. I will never forget the first time I drove this car. It was like a combat fighter.

Mitsubishi FTO – It was front wheel drive, but had a naturally aspirated V6 engine that would run up to 8000RPM. When I look back on it now, I think it really had a lot to offer.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 5 – Acceleration, cornering, stability, at the time it was the most potent weapon of choice.

Honda S2000 – Sharp steering and a chassis balance that would make it oversteer immediately; it was a difficult to drive, but educational car.

Porsche 911 GT3 (996) – Incredible body rigidity and direct response, I think it is still the benchmark of sports cars today.

Mercedes Benz SL55 AMG – Not only is it fast, you can relax when you drive with its soft ride quality. And its movements are very precise.

Ford GT – Low ride height, beautiful exterior and interior. Fantastic to drive, and it just makes you happy looking at it.

Nissan GT-R(R35) – High performance, like a modern day weapon. I completed the Nürburgring 24 hour race in an almost fully stock production car, winning in its class.

FTO and SL55 didn't make it to GTS.
I think the Evo in-game was an Evo IV as well, but I might be wrong

Along with the LFA and Castrol TOM'S, I'm surprised the current gen R8 didn't make it. Especially considering we have the GT3 version...

These are the most obvious omissions in my opinion.

Good list.
It is very odd there are no Euro sedans. Audi A4/S4, BMW 3&5, MB C class, Volvo R models.

Jay Leno's Tank car. :)

I also had hoped that there would be some older cars in the GT Sport. Most of the oldest cars are from 1960's or newer. For example it would be nice if there would be F1 car from the time of Juan Manuel Fangio. :)

Serious Chevy vs Ford rivalry is missing.

Chevrolet and Camaro been in the franchise since debut. We already had the Camaro SS. I am glad we got a good surprise in the ZL1, but...
Would have taken PD two seconds to add a roll cage, change the diameter of the wheels and adjust the power accordingly. Instant Camaro GR.4.

I’m surprised Lotus never made it into GTS since it’s one of the most legendary manufacturers around.

It makes me really curious about how these deals work. I’m assuming they asked for too much money from PD for the rights. But it’s basically free advertising for the brand, you would think a niche company like Lotus would be all over this.

Lotus transferred to Geely in 2017 so all them brands, inc. Volvo didnt make it due to their parent company takeover.

Further I feel like that 'free advertising' aspect is overblown in just about every category.

I do understand that video game industry is something like billions and billions bigger than traditonal media but that old school media has the strangehold on advertising.

A good example is how Hyundai Kia arent well respresented in the video game world and yet they are kicking ass on sales.

Niche players like Lotus Volvo dont really derive much transfer of sales from games.

Further look how Toyota somehow decided to pull back their road cars from games and yet they are safe being the world #1 sales.

I think the star brands like Porsche Ferrari Lamborghini and that earn money from licensing their brands to games.

Its a complex thing. I think PD leverages their relationship with the Japanese brands to bring all their stuff to GT but the others????

PD have a history of omitting some really obvious cars that other games have had for years... It's a joke and I don't understand why it's happening when the older games offered a more up-to-date list. I know that it takes more time to make cars for the game but come on, they're out of excuses now. They need to start prioritising new cars and work less on the older ones that may not be soo familiar to a casual player. Older cars are fun for the enthusiast but they shouldn't come at the cost of new cars that are seen on the roads and on the track.

That Mazda 3 TCR wasn't going to happen. Development stopped and there's been no update of the program.
I made a suggestions post for it, but I feel it's dead.

There is recent talk of a Corolla TCR. Maybe that'll be in GT7, far into that game's life.

The main focus of Sport should ha been as CLowndes888 mentioned. More updated cars. The new Toyotas are fine. However, that should be across all brands.
Surprised cars like the new shape Aston Martin Vantage, a prototype C8, new Mustang, new Challenger, any new Honda, new Mazda, etc. At least one brand new road car or race car, should have been added from each manufacturer.

The FIA races are promoting all brands involved. An easy, some what, free advertisement to show new cars.

Edit: The current list of "new" up to date cars, since game debut.

Yeah, but it's an odd list of cars you couldn't believe didn't come to GT Sport.

I mean, you're not alone in this thread, but you seriously couldn't believe that Polyphony Digital, after 25 years of not even showing the very faintest sign of including the brand in any way, that the Jeep Wrangler didn't come to GT Sport? That's a situation that tests the very limits of your sense of probability and you are in complete disbelief that it didn't come to pass?

I could believe it. Really easily. Jeep's never been in a GT game and - while PD isn't always laser-focused on vehicles of a certain type - the Wrangler isn't exactly top of the list of vehicles that this ostensibly esports-oriented title would prioritise from the brand. Grand Cherokee Trackhawk I can imagine, Wrangler not so much; it'd be an oddity at best. Stranger things have happened, but I'm not exactly stunned into sheer disbelief by its absence.

The same applies for most of the list there. Vector is effectively defunct or at least severely dormant - it hasn't shown anything since 2007 - and hasn't been in a GT game in 22 years. GT hasn't exactly majored in trucks or SUVs over its life; I'm not sure I could even come up with ten across all games unless we include the Mitsubishi Airtrek twice because it had its own demo. About the only car I could imagine might have made it from GT6 to GTS is the Chevelle, and it maybe is the mildest of mild surprises that - given the Challenger, Charger, and Super Bee - it hasn't, but again, not quite worthy of total disbelief.

I mostly agree with the examples in the first post. Given their popularity in the previous titles, the lack of LFA, RX-8, and maybe S15 Silvia are a surprise. No Castrol Tom's Supra '97 - a car once featured in the main menu image of a GT game - is a big surprise, although one that might be explained by the way Gr2 is structured. Of course Lotus is a real surprise, because it was in the open Beta...

You put a Ford Pinto in there but forgot the Chevy Vega?

Had another browse through brand Central. If we negate the Zonda R'09, P1 GTR '16 and Vulcan '16 track day cars, left out the concept and race cars, we have 69 cars from 2009-2020. The reason being, the Lotus Evora was the oldest car before the game debuted. PD modelled the MY09.

Even though majority of those new cars are from 2015, we got many of those cars via DLC, from Abarth 500 '09 to S660 '15 to GR Supra RZ '20.
We could have been given anything. Guess we should be surprised we got cars older than 2009.

Really is a wonder how cars are chosen.

LOL funny thing is on my way to Lowes today I though not only of the Vega but the Germlin, Ventura and Duster

Fiat X1/9, Pontiac Fiero, Pontiac GTO, Toyota MR2, Toyota Celica or Triumph TR7 maybe?

As Famine pointed out, why are you surprised the X1/9, Fiero and TR7 have not made it in the game?
Granted, noone saw the Pantera coming to the game. That was totally out the blue. We got the same Maserati Gran Turismo, but not an updated one.

Why not the Fiat/Abarth 124, based on the ND MX-5/Roadster?

I'm not attacking you. Just wanting to know your reason why.
