Cars you've never driven.....

The biggest problem I have with GT4 is that I'm obsessed with working my way through all the races (I think I'm on about 70%). This means that I'm constantly winning cars but never driving them, I now have 151 cars and have only driven some of them once (to take a picture). I have some superb cars that I've only driven for half a lap.

I've almost completed all the manufacturer races and the most of the national halls so I've decided that once I've done that I shall start driving and tweaking the cars I have in my garage. The endurance races don't interest me so I might start hot-lapping the cars I have.

I'm sure I'm not the only obsessive out there who keeps a spreadsheet of all their cars.... I have a complete list of everything I own with all the mods done to them and their power and weight. I also have at least one "action" picture of every car I own which I use as my screensaver at work..... please tell me I'm not the only one who does this :)

It weird for me. I love the Z4, I've always admired it from afar. That long nose conceling a inline 6 cyclinder engine, that disfigured but loveable face and what a rump.

Alas I've never driven one, I've never even bought one. I'm starting to think I just don't want to be let down.

I like the idea of action shots for screensavers, nice touch.

It was watching my screensaver whilst I should have been working that made me write this post. I keep seeing nice cars appearing and thinking I really ought to drive that......

It is a good way of remembering all the cars you own, I have 216 pictures revolving all day, each time I win or buy a car I do a photo drive and take a picture or two. Most cars have one picture but my favourites have 2 or 3.

I was just thinking about starting a thread like this.

Lest see, I have never driven:

Mines Skyline or Lancer or many of the tuner cars for that matter.
Buick Special
Either Scion
Seat Ibeza
The Spyker
any Volvo
Panoz
Any Pagani - have only owned the LM version
Lister Storm
Any Hommel
Any Citroen <-- oops, I had to drive one of them in order to complete the game, Cross this one off the list.
Any Caterham

There are quite a few cars that I have not driven in the game.

Still haven't driven the Bentley Speed 8 yet. Mainly because it is so hard to win. Also still haven't driven the Toyota Starlet, both GT-R's, NSX-R Prototype Road Car and the Model T Tourer. Otherwise, I've driven a majority of the rest.

I've been playing for 2 years. There's still a huge number of cars I've never driven.

Perhaps I should have titled this thread "Cars you've never driven but want to...."

I was also thinking of cars you actually win or buy but then move on to other things before trying them. Some on my list to try are the Elise Type-72, Jag XJ220 LM, Renault 5 Turbo, Lancia Stratos, any DTM car (I have 4 or 5), Ford Escort Rally Car, 205 Turbo 16, etc, etc.....

I've driven one of every car in the game, won a race with most of them in stock form, except those that just couldn't manage it without a little tweaking. Drove all the special cars for a couple of laps of the Nurburgring (including the Auto Union ) except for the Model T Ford which did 3 laps of Trial Mountain and the 2 Benz Wagens which did 3 laps of Tsukuba (at about 8 mins per lap each! :scared:)
Some are good, some are bad. Only now that I've driven each one once am I going back to re-using cars to improve my A-spec tally. It took ages to collect them all as I've only earned the money in A-spec mode and haven't resorted to B-spec cash cows like running DTM, El Cap Enduro, etc., to earn easy money.

@ CamryFan: The Z4 is pretty nice, although a little heavy for it's power, it was still able to come straight from the dealer, have an oil change but nothing more, and go toe-to-toe with some much higher powered cars at El Capitan 200 miles and come away with the win. :D (Full report is here :))

Most of them; that's why I say that sometimes it doesn't matter how much cars can you found in a game, if 75% of them just plain annoy you. About the Z4, I did drove it, but the lack of power and the excess of weight... Was enough for me to sold it. But once in a while, I have the urge to buy one again. The NSX-R Road Car, that is one of the cars I have yet to drive. The Bentley Speed 8 is another one, looks cool, and why not? Sometimes a race car changes the mood in the garage. Other than those two, I have driven pretty much every car that I like.

There is a large number of cars I've never driven. Quite honestly because I've just got no interest in driving them. I especially dislike FF cars but that is only my personal view.

That's true. FF cars just plain suck in my book. If it wasn't because of their horrid tire wear, maybe I could give them a shot.

^But you have to buy one eventually for the FF Challenge. The Pontiac Sunfire is not a bad car, neither is the Honda Civic SiR-II '93, they're both good starter cars, for example. Sure, they suck later on, but they're vital at the beginning of the game! That's what they're needed for, beginners races! (Or maybe the rally races, if you're using a Xsara Rally Car, which is FF strangely.)

If I'm honest, the MR cars are some of the worst. They're home to some of the best cars in the game but the ones that aren't suck.

I rarely drive cars with less than 100 BHP stock.

Anything with more than 250 BHP I consider drive worthy.
(exeption while going for 200 a-spec points I use cars with 30 BHP + ..It is a challenge)

I just love MR cars Maxed out at Drag Strip since their engines give allmost allways enought ballast to launch perfectly.
Some MR cars require a little ballast , but not as mutch as FR drivetraing in general :D

A good example: Lotus Esprit 350 Sports.(maxed out) (with NOS it runs 8 seconds flat easy on drag strip)

Cars I've never driven in GT4 yet most of the manufacturer prize cars. And the Bentley is yet waiting to be won at the endurance race..

MadMax

I will just B-Spec the Sarthe Race, then maybe some day I will race it A-Spec with the Speed 8. I can't imagine myself racing there with other car :D
About the FFs: Well, yeah, the beginner hall and the manufacturer's race are the only ones that come in mind. But MR rules! I bet that when you meant "the best" you were talking about the race cars  There are some nice MRs out there, such as the Lotus Esprit and Elise, Toyota MR2, Ford GT, Pagani Zonda (:)), and many others I can't think of now 👍

Oh, there are numerous cars I haven't driven yet, mainly because I don't really like racing cars. I prefer racing cars I might even get to own myself one day. :)

That's what I like about the tuner garage I'm running with a couple of friends I met here on GTP, you constantly search for new cars, you try them out, find their weaknesses and remove them as good as you can. As a result: a huge list of setup sheets. :D Just check the link in my signature, or visit the tuning and settings subforum. Many people there are running their garages with all kinds of special setups. Maybe even one of the car you've always wanted to try but never got to actually drive it.

Oh and Smallhorses, big 👍 for your hard work, determination and self control! I could never go for a race for cash, fully A-Spec, if I knew I could just B-spec the DTM for easy cash... :P Maybe this tuning hobby of mine is just too expensive. :):D Lol.

And about the Z4, I'd say why don't you just try it out? If you don't like it being to weak and too fat, you can always do a weight reduction and slap on a racing chip or a (semi-)racing exhaust. Cheap and very good. :)

On the one hand I think it's great to see the same cars you see driving around you on the way to the office realized in such a detailed video game, but on the other, sometimes I think seeing 6 mid HP range cars on a high speed course looks kinda crazy! :dopey:

Indeed. I've been a member here since '05 but only recently have I spent time reading through many of these posts, and putting much of what folks like you have written into thoughtful consideration and practical application. So, thanks to you and everyone who has contributed good positive info!

I haven't driven a lot of cars in the game. I usually sell any prize cars that I don't need (please don't kill me, I don't have more than 2 pages of cars at any time), but I keep all the concepts because what's the point selling them if you don't get any money for them? So I have a lot of concepts but most of them I don't even bother driving. These include the Hyundai HCD-6, the Acura NSX-R Concept, and about 10 others. Plus I haven't driven pretty much all the LMP's, the Chaparral 2D, a LOT of touring cars, and many rally cars. Also, I don't even bother looking at worthless production cars.

On the topic of drivetrain, I too hate FF to death. They madly understeer, have bad weight distribution and generate a lot of tire wear (previously mentioned). MR is my personal favorite, because every MR I've driven has perfect weight balance for my driving style and handles like a dream, not including the ridiculous Saleen S7/Zonda/ZZII etc which all handle horribly and have the world's worst brakes. FR is my next favorite, followed by 4WD.

:-)

Yeah. FF drivetrain really limits your possibilities of winning. MR is definitely the ultimate drivetrain. For racing that is. But since this is a game, what else should I ask for? The two cars that I deem great, in very aspect (including looks) are MRs: the Lotus Elise, and the Honda NSX-R. The Honda S2000 also gets an especial mention here, since it has a close 50/50 weight distribution. All of them have one thing in common: they will kick every FF car 🤬 in their classes, and even higher.

Which Toyota's are the Scion's in GT4 Paragon?? I assume the boxy things near the start of the new car catelogue.

Which Toyota's are the Scion's . . . Thats kinda confusing.

The Scions in the game are the '03 xA and '03 xB.

Well, it's as I said a few months back, Lexus was created so rich people didn't think they were buying Toyota's. Scion's were created so that Gen-Y didn't think they were driving the same brand as their mum's Camry!! :P

Thanks mate, will check out soon. 👍

 so true ..so true...

Yeah. FF drivetrain really limits your possibilities of winning.

I beg to differ. Last nite I took a Ford Focus SVT to the Special Condition races at Cathedral Rocks and got a damn good race against various all-wheel drives there (Lancia Delta, Toyota Celica RC, etc). I thought this was just a fluke so I got a lightweight CR-X with full weight reductions and a full stage 1 turbo system. The races were much harder (the 1990 CR-X isn't as capable as the more-modern Focus) but I still managed some tight wins.

I guess the bottom line: true, FF is the least capable for racing, but sometimes I NEED to drive them, just to get the best challenge possible. :D

Yes, I agree that FF cars offer some challenge. I call it "fun". I made a tune today, using the Spoon Civic Type-R. Well, spend some hours tuning it, with a result I was happy with, pulling 2'09.500 constantly at Grand Valley Speedway, without power increases and even with extra weight. Then I went to Special Stage Route 5 with a +10 difficulty. It was a damn fun race.

Gotcha. I thought you meant driving a front-drive limits your possiblities so you should avoid it. My bad..

Anyways, I'm on a bit of a roll and just started the "Normal" race at Citta d'Aria in a Mazda RX-7 with about 290 horsepower. Afterwards, I thought "hmmm, I wonder if I can get this in my Integra! Tough win, but I did it! Had to get stage 1 weight and max turbo power, tho.

Just this past weekend hopped behind the wheel of the Nissan 240 RS, and the Audi Quattro. The (stock) Nissan suprisingly dusted all the other cars in that class. I didn't expect that. It was pretty nimble in the turns, not enough understeer as I expected. 👍

I need to give the Audi another go. It was too late and I was, ahem, falling asleep at the wheel!

I also purchased the RS4 Wagon in red. I could only manage 4th place in its class race. Need to tune that baby. 👍

The Bentley is a very nice car to drive. Putting a lot of time in it because of the recent online racing I'm doing.

^So have I.

A car I've never driven... Despite my love of Le Mans cars, I've never driven the Oreca Viper.
