Cars you've never driven.....

Yeah. FF drivetrain really limits your possibilities of winning. MR is definitely the ultimate drivetrain. For racing that is. But since this is a game, what else should I ask for? The two cars that I deem great, in very aspect (including looks) are MRs: the Lotus Elise, and the Honda NSX-R. The Honda S2000 also gets an especial mention here, since it has a close 50/50 weight distribution. All of them have one thing in common: they will kick every FF car 🤬 in their classes, and even higher.

FFs can be made very quick on the right track; however the cars that put the power down well do not have the torque to do well in terms of high speed acceleration and those that do don't have much tire underneath them and therefore handle like trash.

^So have I.

A car I've never driven... Despite my love of Le Mans cars, I've never driven the Oreca Viper.

Me neither. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever driven a Viper/SRT-10 or any race car variation of the two. :ill:

I might just have to load up the game and try them out now....

FFs can be made very quick

That. I can already be classified as an idiot, 🤬, and many things like that, because I have already proved I'm one on the Gran Turismo 5 forum. But I believe that the problem with FFs is that they have to be made very quick. But the NSX, the Elise (and many FR and MR cars for that matter) are naturally born fast cars. I remember the argument of the Evo VIII vs Impreza Spec-C, stock and tuned is an entirely different thing. But FFs cars lag behind in a lot of things when compared to FR and MR cars. Even when tuned, put against a FR car also tuned, they just don't compare. Just my opinion, though. I know you will come up rather fast with a reply that will turn it to dust.

Actually, I've got nothing to "turn it to dust" with.

You're entirely correct. And FF will never, ever be as good for putting power down (or for overall lap time) as RWD.

However, a good FF in a tuned state (EP Civic, RSX, DC5 Integra, to some extent the Foci) vs a mediocre FR in a tuned state (as in, tuned well but is still limited by the chassis' abilities) will be a close match with the FF in some cases coming out ahead.

As an example, the "good" FFs at Trial Mountain do right around 1:32-4. The excellent RWDs (NSX-R, RX-7 Spirit R, etc) do 1:28 to 1:30 dead with a bit more weight but also a bit more power.

The "decent" RWDs make it around in about the same time as the FWDs. The more understeery, older and less grippy RWDs make it around in 1:35 or in some cases slower.
