Really? I could only find 109008 as of now...
Go to the main forums page, and scroll to the very bottom of the page. Below the active users you'll see the current number of members joined, which is currently at 110,027

I suppose that they were added on the, 'view all users' list; I had checked that for my source. I see it now, though. So, I guess here's to 110,000 users.

Does it matter how many are active?

Yes, easy to achieve a ton of memebers, but a great achivement to get a ton of active members. Not that I'm bringing this site down. It has to be the biggest or second biggest site I am on. None of the other sites I am on other than LS1tech are close to how active this site is.

He's got a point. If you want a real measure of site activity, I would recommend a cleanup action be performed every few months. All zero-post accounts and all accounts that haven't had any activity in a year or so will get one email warning, then are deleted out of hand. Most mid-to-large forums I visit do this just to keep the database clean.

You might find the number of users dwindles rapidly at that point. I'd be surprised as hell if we have more than a thousand or so that could survive that kind of cleanup.

I wouldn't support that. Many people on GTP are drifters, in the sense, that they come back, and leave every few months. Doing something like that would wipe out those who do come back after a long break.

And if we delete those accounts, we would lose the posts? That wouldn't be very good at all.

I don't think that happens, there are certain banned members with deleted accounts, and their posts are still up there. And, if we did encourage more members to get active, what would they be really like? We could be getting members with really bad posts or bad posting quality, along with a couple of other difficulties. For now, it's hard to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Guys, this pretty much says it all about deleting accounts...

I don't see how you are helping yourself by deleting those accounts, Skyline, but not because it will 'make your website look better'. As I have said many times before, a community's user base is an extremely valuable asset, regardless of whether or not most of them are "active". Here, for example, I have the ability to directly contact more than 70,000 people via email. And these aren't just normal people - they are people who have already expressed enough interest in the GT games and in GTPlanet to complete the registration process. If my goal is to grow and encourage participation in my community, I would have to be crazy to remove those users from the site. Even if they have opted not to receive email from me, they still may receive forum digests or thread subscription updates, which brings them back to the site. Online communities have everything to lose and nothing to gain by deleting inactive accounts, and I don't understand why this is such a continually reoccurring topic both here and abroad.

...That's alot of members, but as previously said, not many of those is active, I would say we have about 1800 or a little more maybe active members( This is governed by what your definition of active is, Mine is, Member who signs in one a month). Just have a look at the most members online at once info at bottom of Forum Page.;)
Still when you thinkn about it, GTP has had 110000 people interested enough to signup, It's obvious that Gran Turismo has one incredibly large Fan Base.:D

that's quite a bit of people! good job GTP!

man, why didnt I just wait a couple weeks to sign up? :P

Quick!! someone get Jordan to send an email to get everyone to log on for 3 hours on the same day, same(or similar, depending on time zone)time, and we all log on!!

by the way, that was not a "bump", that was a "kink".

Then we'll have a ton of active members and a completely melted GTPlanet server :sly:.

Then, we'd have exactly 0 active members :).

By the way, there are 114897 registered members as of this post. Also, it's been three years to the day that I've been a member here :).
