Change the badge, options, etc

How about the ability to change the badge, options, grille, etc on your car? The Pontiac GTO, for example, could be changed to the following:

CADILLAC: El Dorado
BUICK: Gran Sport
OLDSMOBILE: 442
CHEVROLET: Chevelle

Another idea is upgrading the model name, like from base Chevy to SS. Let's say you get a Monaro, but it doesn't have the Corvette engine. Put the Vette engine in that baby, badge it as a Chevy and, BOOM! You've got yourself a Chevelle SS! The Cadillac El Dorado could also be upgraded to ETC in this manner.

One last idea is renaming the car. Sick of the boring, alphanumeric names they have today? Simple: just rename the cars. Rename the CTS the Catera and the RSX the Integra (or simply rebadge the Honda version). That way, you actually have a car with a decent name.

yeah! that way, just like in real life, people can have base model cars, and try to pass them off as better than they really are!
sorry dude, this has gotta be the worst idea Ive ever heard
I don't think GT is about posing - since, you have to race and people would see the crap anyway

I like the option Test Drive Unlimited has. The ability to change from base model to luxury, and change cetain aspects of the car such as adding real optional features.

For new cars? That sounds great. Goes with the automotive dictionary thing. It's very hard to find what the actual differences in the trim level are anywhere.

Rebadging? I donno, seems pretty pointless. Changing the licence plate would be good, and the ability to tack a nickname onto some of your favorate cars would be fine. You can't even see the badging in the game though. It just seems like asking for lamers to attempt to screw people around in online play.

Although I don't want to see posers (I've seen far too many Mustangs with slap-on R34-style GT-R badges where I live...), I think the idea has merit. The idea (at least in theory) is that this will eliminate the duplicate cars in the game.

So the new/used-car lineups will have less cars, and you can change the trim level, but essentially, you still have the same number of cars in the game. It's a good idea in theory, but I don't know how or why it will actually make the game any better, or eliminate one of the common pet peeves that "there's too many duplicate cars" (I won't mention any names) in the game.

I don't think it should work for used car lots, but say if you went to a Nissan dealer (yeah, easy examples here) and wanted a Skyline. You select Skyline from a list of some sort, and you see a changing image of different new Skylines. Then you have a list of options for what trim and stuff (GT-R, GT-R V-Spec, V-Spec II, GTS-t, etc.). Then you would select a manual or automatic transmission, auto costing more, and acting like a real auto.

combine the re-badging/naming idea, with a little online betting, and you have street racing, except you can't pop their hood! maybe NFS can do it in another underground game

You know what really bugs me is cars that have the correct badging on the trunk, yet it's in the wrong spot! Most of the ones I've seen are mounted higher than stock, on the opposite side of the license plate cutout, or some combination of the two. I can only assume that a) These cars were repaired by a blind or dyslexic bodyshop technician or b) the owners simply had waaaaaay too much free time. :irked:
/end rant

Only reason I see this as being okay is on muscle cars. For motor swaps.
Like how the Nova, Chevelle, Mustang, some vettes, Camaros etc all had the engine size badges.
things like SS...
uh more then jsut the tuning made them SS. Interior, suspension, appearence.
Plus every moron in thier mother would have GT-R everything.
I admit I have one on my winter car, but it's mroe or less a Joke since it's an Olds Cutlass. Tho it does have a 350.... and I can take down any moron who revs thier civic at me... :scared:
lol
