Chaparral 2X Power Limiter - PP Bug?

I was just messing around with the Power Limiter in my garage for several cars and I noticed when adjusting the Power Limiter on the Chaparral 2X, it actually gained Performance Points for a while.

100% Power Limiter 793 PP 905 HP
increase
88.6% Power Limiter 796 PP 801 HP
beyond this point decrease
88.5% Power Limiter 795 PP 801 HP
back to 793 PP
82.9% Power Limiter 793 PP 750 HP

Is this a bug? I don't believe it is, but I am curious as to what the reasoning behind the Performance Point increase could be.
