Is the Toyota [R] Chaser LM Edition in GT the same as the Toyota Chaser TRD Sport X30 in GT2?

Man, I don't know, don't think I ever raced the Chaser much in the 1st game.

I just tried to win the World Cup with a fully-modified Chaser X-30 in GT2 and was disappointed with it. All the numbers are there: it weighs 2,766 pounds and makes 687 horsepower (pretty close to a Viper, for instance) yet I found the Chaser to be simply too slow. I got it to handle beautifully, but it just couldn't keep up with the GT40, Audi TT LM, and Toyota GT-1. I only managed 2nd place at Apricot Hill and 4th or lower at all the other races. The Viper weighs more than the Chaser yet it'll clean house in the World Cup. Perhaps, it's cuz it's got more torque?

Also, I tried the Chaser at the All Stars races. I won at Super Speedway of course, but Laguna Seca and Red Rock just couldn't hack it. Again, it's just too slow. Sucks, man.

Just because a car has more torque, it doesn't mean it will be faster ...

It's the power curve that matters ... Ideally, you'd want a completely flat power curve over the largest amount of RPM possible ... However, this is practically impossible (only thing that comes close is the Suzuki Alto Works and Daihatsu Mira, but neither have the gearing to take advantage of their power curves for some insanely stupid reason) ...

Of course, more torque at a given RPM = more power at a given RPM, so it isn't worthless ...

well, win races with skill not power. just keep trying, dont give up the chaser!

I got the skills my man, but I'm telling you that car just wasn't cutting it...and as you know I'm all about giving the underdog a chance.

I just tried the Chaser at Red Rock (All Stars) and wasn't the easiest race, the car is too slow compared to the LM cars.
But with a decent setup and driving with no mistakes it's possible...

Here's my setup, if someone wants to try it:

Spring 11.5/5.2
Height 90/86
Dampers 5/2
Dampers 5/2
Camber 1.2/0.6
Toe 0.00/0.00
Stabilizer 1/7
Brakes 24/16
Downforce 0.47/0.76
LSD 56/56/56

Gears
1- 2.805
2- 1.820
3- 1.289
4- 0.967
5- 0.768
Final- 3.727

I haven't tried on other tracks but probably are harder than Red Rock

Anyone got a garage pic of that Chaser? You'd make an old fan of Chasers very happy!

i'd also try that specific setup. still can't get it quite right with the X30.
also. chaser spent time in the US under a Lexus badge...Lexus CS

Here's the Laguna Seca (All Stars) result, using the same setup:

As i expected this one was harder than Red Rock, even if i managed to get to the lead on the first lap, it's easy to make mistakes on this track and i made some. I think a softer LSD could help to put the power down on the first and last corners, but i didn't tried it.
While on Red Rock i won at first attempt with this setup, on Laguna Seca i only made it at 3rd.

I checked your X(30)-Files Pupik, nice one 👍 :)

I think all this shows that even if the Chaser isn't one of the top cars it can beat the best ones :)

I just checked the Chaser LM in GT1 and it's very different from the X30. Different look and different stats. For example, the Chaser LM has 6 gears, the X30 has 5 gears...

I think they aren't the same.

I am inclined to agree, although a lot of the cars that are the same in both games have different stats and even gear boxes. This is where my Hybrid skills come into play.

No Chaser was ever sold in the US with a Lexus nameplate. However, the Chaser was what we called the Toyota Cressida, until it was cut from the US import market after 1992.

There seemed to be no point in a rear-drive luxury "Toyota", when the Lexus name was being marketed in the US. The LS400 wasn't too much more expensive (at the time), and the GS300/Aristo was ready to fill the sport-sedan void a year later.

As it is, the Chaser's still fairly popular in Japan today.
