Cheating. Bad driving.

The game is ruined by cheating. Last night I entered A race and was hit 5 times deliberately by the same player who couldnt be bothered to find a safe place to overtake but rather wanted to smash me out of his way. This resulted in me going from 4th to 17th place in a race I should have comforably remained in top 5. And I spent over an hour doing practice and qualifying laps.. we should be able to kick players from a race with enough votes. And surely you could start implementing online suspensions for this type of driving like a yellow/red card system. Surely the threat of no online racing for a week/month would encourage these idiots to behave? The cheating makes the game a total waste of time.. I understand accidents can happen but 99% of the races I enter there is someone who has no interest in driving with skill and only want to follow a poor racing line and force good drivers out of their way...

I usually try to follow a driver like this. He will soon ram someone else who is not trying to be a good driver and they will take each other out. Don't bother trying to race someone like this. Don't try to get revenge. Be patient the universe will take care of this jerk. And with your S rating you will never have to see him again. Sorry that all your hard work was wasted hopefully you had time for another race.

I have had about 10 races today. 9 of them taken out on first corner. As well as other attempts to take me out throughout every race. People trying to pass in corners using a line they no is gonna force me off the track. I' starting to hate the game because my driver rating takes a hit. If I want to raise it I sit back and dont race. When my rating rises it is still as bad cheating is rife. It really defeats the competitive element and makes it about who is the best cheat. I think I give up. Love the gameplay but too many ****wits who dont understand racing, and whose only passion is pissing everyone else off. I don' understand why they play. Where is the glory in cheating ahead 1 or two places when you can't drive fast enough to win? And if you are fast enough to win you are just punished by envious dick heads wh run you off. Just watched two Germans on a straight trying to push each ther off track? Why not use the track and try to corner safely? Just wankers..

I agree with the OP - there are bad drivers out there, however, if you think about your races, the nasty drivers are in the minority. Most people racing are clean - at least by the time they get to AS or SS level. So IMO, there are a couple of options:

Join a Racing League
If you really want to race with people who are out to improve their race skill, try to find a race league. On GT6 I serendipitously found a Tues/Sat league called Car Of The Week (COTW) with great drivers, all looking to improve their driving skill. We'd pick a car to race that week and everyone would drive that car with the only modification allowed: an oil change ...and paint. The field equalized through the 2hrs of racing since the winner of a race was required to take on the next lower tire compound - and winners learned to run with the downgraded tires as a badge of honor :)

On GT Sport, I joined SNAIL Spec Racing - they have 4 divisions depending on your level of skill, and well outlined rules on what is and is not allowed, with moderators running each race (they race as well). I've only done one race night with SNAIL and so far it is great, epic, gloriously clean racing! Sure there are incidents, but from what I've seen people take responsibility for their errors and apologize when appropriate.

Race Steward System

I was on iracing for about a year, and the racing enjoyment was dramatically better. In addition iracing has an "incident report" type of mechanism where you can submit vid/pics of an incident and they can take some action. When I heard about FIA sanctioned races on GT-Sport, I really thought things were gonna be different, that people would take these races and treat them as FIA level events. But obviously FIA means nothing to these folks, and IMO frankly GT Sport is ruining the FIA image by allowing reckless racers to take part in those events. The FIA races really should have some reporting mechanism where a "race steward" is able to look at race footage, and take some action - eg. disqualify them from the race, suspend for some number of FIA events, drop in DR, etc. Is this a labor intensive job? yes - initially it would be a lot of work, but over time people would learn that these events are not for them, and the number of incidents should drop over time.

Hey GT Sport - implement a "race steward" system for FIA races!! it is badly needed!

I looked into the i-racing thing at one time but the cost between there and GTS was quite a bit higher for i-racing so for what you are spending to buy cars, buy tracks and then the subscription cost per month it would be reasonable to expect a better and higher level of racers implemation and enforcement of racing rules crafted from real life racing orgs.

Also on i-racing you are not getting the kids that got the game for x-mas and totally inexperienced racers for the most part like you get here for a one time cost of 30-60 dollars US.

Wanting or expecting only serious FIA level gamers on a console game made for the masses and sold in every big box store is about the same as expecting to walk out the door in the morning and expecting someone to gift you a totally restored 1966 Shelby Cobra just because you are such a nice guy.

In other words wish in one hand and **** in the other and see which one fills up first!;)

After an extremely disappointing weekend, where I got bumped multiple times in 3 consecutive races, I rage quit and took both the Dr and SR drop. Its come to the point that while I love the game I'm just not enjoying myself anymore.

I'm tired of being crowded off the track on straights by faster drivers. I hug the extreme edge of a track on the straight if I know there's a faster driver, giving ample room for a clean overtake. Not only do they overtake they make sure I won't pose a threat by crowding me off. It's especially pissing off when you know you're actually doing your utmost to avoid contact, and someone decides to use you as a brake or turning rails, or just bump you off.

It's also pissing off when you get 3 consecutive time penalties for passing ghosted cars that have just reappeared on track right in front of me under yellows. FFS these are the cars that the yellow was for. Am I supposed to slow down and wait for them to pick up speed? Happened last race where I was on the final lap and instead of finishing 1st I ended up 6th. Eventually I just deleted the game 2 days back. I'll probably redownload it at some point but for now I just can't bear it. There's a good game here but I'm just not having fun anymore. I'm going to tackle Yakuza 0 and Kiwami and then maybe I'll come back.

Totally agree. But I've been wondering: The FIA events all say something like "Test Season" or something, can't remember exactly. So, are we still in a sort of "let's see how this all works out before we implement the real deal" kind of thing? Just wondering.
