Dale Earnheart said it best. "The reason people love to watch nascar is because it hasn't beacme commercialized with ridiculous driver salaries that turn other sports into a soap opera."

He was right when he said this but let me tell you why he was right. The only reason nascar doesn't have ridiculous driver salaries is because if any driver doesn't like what he is being paid the team can very easily find another farmer who knows how to turn left. I've been considering becoming a nascar driver myself. I've been practicing my left turns and my hillbilly accent!

He has always been my fav. I just would like to see Dale Jr. pick up where Sr. left off. That would really be great.

I always knew nascar fans were stupid just for liking the sport, but being to dumb to realize sarcasm truely puts them in a league of their own.

Whats sarcasm?
I like stock car racing so much that my next car will be a Monte Carlo SS because they make great left turns, and I make a lot of left turns.

Congatulations buddy!

I love to watch souped-up sedans go around and around in at the same angle while choking on the noxious fumes of high-octane gasoline! YAY!

HEY NOW! I ran track in high school for four years. Turning left ain't so bad (:

Coach used to joke with one of the guys a year ahead of me, "Will, what are we going to do today?"

Will would respond, "Uhhh .... run hard and turn left?"

"Sounds good to me. What are you guys waiting on?"

That makes it sound like a mindless sport ... but nothing could be further from the truth. About 70% of athletics is in your mind. If you don't think you can win, you've got no chance.

Anyway, I'll get off of the preacher's podium now ...

I agree, NASCar is pretty lame. As Americans, we do a pretty good job of screwing up something that could be done in good taste, with class and style. Nah, jump in your `rod and burn up some tires. Woohoo!

Oh well ...

I am a big fan of f-1 and gt racing, nascar isnt my cup of tea,BUT!!! there is alot more then just turning left. On smaller ovals they brake and shift more then a f-1 car at spa. Plus there shifters are not on the steering wheel. They have to still press on stiff brakes and clutches, not to mention use a shifter that should be in a 18-wheeler.
So I tip my hat to a nascar driver. As always long live f-1.

I saw a Nascar race at Calder in Melbourne (they have an oval out there that is really struggling at present), and it was the first time I'd ever been to a race and wished for a crash.

I've been to F1, Touring Cars (2 & 5 litre), rallying, motorkana, historic meets, but I have never been so bored.

I remember hearing a description of one of the longer Nascar races at the 'Will It Ever End 600'.

I'm sure Nascar on ovals at high speed takes a very high degree of skill (and as has been demonstrated, extremely dangerous) but, sorry, it bores me to tears.

 Yeah, I know what you mean. I have respect for their skill & endurance, but I have no interest in watching....
