Well from the titlae you can tell what this thread is about, I need a racing cockpit, but I don't know which one to choose :nervous:

Here are my checklist sorta thing for it.

Price: ~£300

Size: It's gotta fit somebody that is 5"0' (Only in early Secondary School years)

Fitting: Gotta be compact, I don't have much room, so that rules out Obutto & GT Omega rigs.

Folding up: It's gotta be A: Easy to move or B: Fold up pretty small

So with that, I've come up with 2 solutions:

Hyperdrive Racing Frame Bundle 4

Virtual Racing Chassis

I seem to love to sit closer to the ground...... anyway, has anyone any experience with these rigs?

I have queries that the developers can't answer without a biased opinion.

VRC: The pedal angle looks slightly uncomfortable, can anyone see to answer that?

Hyperdrive: When you sit low, it looks like the wheel would be MUCH higher than you, and so would the shifter...... anything about that?

I would be truly grateful to anyone who can help.

BTW: I have a Fanatec Carrera Wheel, so the gearshift mount is a must

How about the Playseat line of cockpits, are they too big?
Here is a cheaper and comparable one to the ones you listed and they can be more expensive.

Here is the home page.

I can't say how well they fold up and to what size that will be, but others here have them and could give some feedback.

I know about the rookies but aparently they don't have gearshift holders?

And.... the bar is too fat for me.

But thanks.

Have you thought about making your own cockpit or even using a ironing table? Before spending $300 dollars? Just a thought.

Well I'm on a low desk and bean bag now :sly:

DIY is great but I just can't really be bothered because of time restraints.

I know the GT Omega Rig can be easily dismantle in half by unscrewing two screw knobs. for east storage.

But anyway for you budget your only option would be gameracer pro. but it seems you need a gearshifter.

GT Omega would be the best option overall for your budget to be honest.

oh how about rino seat?

I have thought about the Rinoseat be the way that thing is built, it looks like if you shift your weight to the side.... lets say your GT5 experience will go a bit.... sideways.

But I know about GT Omega but I dont want to have to assemble things before everytime I play maybe just unfold.

Does anyone have the Hyperdrive or VRC?

I really dobut it will go sideways. Your weight will be in the dead middle (with very low center of gravity, because seat is positioned that way). You would probably have to lean a lot to destabilize it. But let's wait and see.

I don´t own that rig or any rig but i once drove in it and it was really good. very stable and comfortable. the price is really good as well. if I buy a rig i would buy that rig.
I dont konw whether the company delivers to UK :? but i think so

Doesn't say that they ship to the UK on their website.....

But similar design to Obutto, GT Omega.... but just too big.

I am pretty much set on VRC or Hyperdrive but want some owners of them to answer:

For VRC: The pedal angle looks very steep and seems uncomfortable, is it really though?

For Hyperdrive: It looks like the shifter & wheel will be very high when sitting, is it really though?

oh wow,

vrc, absolutely too steep angle on the pedals.

hyperdrive: you're really a lucky guy if the geometry fits you good.

Just my opinion of course. Never tried either of those.

What is the allowed footprint for your racing rig?

You live in the UK, why not save up a bit more and go for the gamepod? It looks like a proper piece of kit and you can even go for the frame only version and get your own proper racing seat or a more comfier seat from a scrapyard? They also have the option for shifter mount and drinks holder which is always a bonus for those long stints?

I personally have the Playseat Evo with gearlever extension and cant be hapier...but I can understand that the centre bar might be too big

I had a Hyperdrive seat for a good few years, it gets the job done but I found my view of the TV wasn't the best. I also found the seat a bit too hard, I ended up sitting on a pillow but it didn't improve much. Recently I converted to the Playseat Evo and it is much better in every single way, it was a bit pricey but well worth it. Storage-wise, the Playseat Evo is still pretty good, it sits where I would put my Hyperdrive seat, taking up just tiny bit more room.

Did you have the extra seat padding?

I think I've come up with an idea.
I could buy the VRC then build around it with wood (in a little car shape) I've got a mini fridge for drinks/snacks, and got a nightstand that I got a pair for £10, put the subwoofer of a 5.1 there and mount a 5.1 around the whole project..... I'll see if I can design it in some format to put it up here.
