Chrome keeps crashing

Like the title says my Google Chrome keeps closing then re-opening again. I've found out that a virus or something has infected it and causes the program to annoy the heck out of me by doing the above mentioned. I've also found a few extra programs installed on my computer which were most likely put there by whatever is causing chrome it's problems which gives me a TON of adverts no matter which site I go to. The biggest concern is that uninstalling chrome and then reinstalling it fixes the problem temporarily but it comes back again after a few days. Now what I want to ask is do any of you know a possible fix or programs to solve this? I have Microsoft Security Essentials and Spybot but it seems to still be around even after I run both of them on my computer. I just want this thing gone so that I can have a peace of mind.

What are these programs?

Use Malwarebytes as @TenEightyOne says. It will detect and eliminate malware.

Follow these steps.

1. Delete all "Restore Points" on your PC. Because even if you eliminated all the virus and adwares etc. it will come back again because your restore points are infected.

2. Have your Anti-Virus scan your PC for viruses and use SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes for scanning adwares, trojans etc. SuperAntiSpyware catches more "wares" than Malwarebytes. Run them all.

3. Restart your PC.

This is how I got rid all those annoying adwares, viruses etc.

Sorry, I was rushing a little earlier...

Is one of the extra programs called "Strong Signal" and is one of the symptoms that your search engine keeps defaulting to Yahoo?

I fixed this problem on a friend's PC a while back. I used Malwarebytes and removed Chrome along with every Chrome and Strong Signal key in the registry while in Safe Mode. I haven't used SuperAntiSpyware but @ULTRAVIOLENZZ seems to like it, so give that a go too.

One warning; if it's in your browser then there's a chance it will corrupt downloads of software like that - download security software on a separate machine if you can and transfer it on a USB key (or hard CD-ROM) that you can either scrub or dispose of afterwards.

This is very important. As @TenEightyOne said "delete the registry" after you scanned "and" eliminated the virus etc. "before" you restart the PC or will be there again after you restarted it. You can use CCleaner or if you know what you're doing, delete it manually.

I don't really remember as I uninstalled them immediately. I think one was like "World Coupons" or something stupid like that.

No that program wasn't installed thank god and no it doesn't default to anything but those annoying sites that tell you to call a certain number blah, blah, blah or to do this or that to get your pc to run better.

Mind telling me more about the whole removing items from the registry thing? Sorry but I'm a bit of a computer novice so that stuff kinda flies over my head.

Also just to confirm do I need to uninstall chrome or should I be fine? Do I run these programs before or after I uninstall chrome? And I run CCleaner afterwards right?

Normally you'd go into Safe Mode, uninstall Chrome ENTIRELY, then remove any registry keys. Rather than tell you how to remove things from the registry (I'm guessing you haven't done it before ;) ) I'd recommend using Malware Bytes or SuperAntiSpyware first to see if that fixes the problem. If not, let us know.

If you do need to get into the registry I (or someone else replying in this thread) will find you a simple guide, I'm sure.

Would run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free, hopefully that does the job but if not lookup what comes up and find guides/tools to remove it. Also would install Avast Free and remove Spybot and turn off Microsoft Security Essentials real-time protection.

Good news! Seems like the problem has been solved as I don't have any more of those annoying ads and whatnot. Thanks a bunch everyone! Now we wait to see if any of it returns or not (hopefully no).

Well a bit of bad news: I'm still getting ads on chrome. The good news (I guess) is that I've found extensions on chrome that once I delete, the ads disappear. The problem is that they are getting added in the first place. Nothing else has shown up otherwise.

Hmm...can you provide a screencap of your Chrome? Also can you remember what program did you install before this happened? Maybe that another program that's still installed in your PC not related to Chrome causes the problem. It already happened to me. Did you followed the steps? Try scanning the PC first before uninstalling Chrome. Uninstalling it first might prevent the scanners from finding the folders where the virus and 'wares hides.

Malware Anti Bytes, a full removal of Chrome (including all extensions and application data).
I had been having issues with Chrome for months where it would crash randomly. I did exactly this and have had no issues since reinstalling. 👍

Also took the time to upgrade my Chrome installation to the beta version since it's 64-bit.

What are those extensions called? The reason I ask is that there may be a specific guide somewhere that tells you which regkeys/appdata need to be deleted.

I'll try to get a screencap if I can. Is there anything that you're looking for in particular? Like settings or something?
And yes I did scan with both SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, and CCleaner.

I got rid of them as soon as I noticed something was up, sorry. But I'll keep that in mind and let you know exactly which ones they are next time it happens.

Screencap of Chrome opened and the result of your scans if its ok. (Anti-Virus, Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware and CCleaner registries)

Even more bad news: After doing all of the scans and removing chrome afterwards like everyone suggested I cannot reinstall chrome at all. Every time I try it says the installer failed to start and closes. What's worse is that my laptop on which this problem is occuring has evolved a power issue in which I must keep the battery plugged in or it won't turn on at all even though the power cord is connected.

Can't get a screen right now but I always have google as my home page for chrome. Scans results are clean as well, nothing to report. The frustration. :banghead:

In addition to browser crack issue, I'm now suffering from obtrusive popups (as shown the thumbnail below). I found out some guides like this one that just recommended me to reset browser data. Well, I didn't think it can help me out. Then I saw that you guys said malwarebyts can remove adwares. I downloaded it and it really helped me remove certain suspicious programs. But the ads showed up a few minutes later. :( :(:( Reinstalling the system may be a good idea. But I don't know how to start.

Before you reinstall your windows try this.

1. Go to safe mode.

2. Delete all restore points even the latest restore point by "disabling system protection". Go to System>
System Protection>(choose drive where restore points are located)>Configure>Disable System Protection.

3. Scan for virus using your anti-virus, scan for adwares and malwares using Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware. SuperAntiSpyware catches more 'wares.

4. Remove the virus and 'wares.

5. Use CCleaner to delete the their registries.

6. Remove them furthermore by clicking "Cleaner" in CCleaner and choose "Run Cleaner"

7. Restart PC.
