I'm surprised this hadn't been posted. Former 3 time Nascar Grand National Championship winner (now called the Nascar Sprint Cup) Tim Flock with Nascar's only race winning monkey (insert jokes here). Jocko Flocko rode along with Flock during his May 16, 1953 win at Hickory Motor Speedway. Jocko Flocko rode along with Flock for a grand total of 8 races before an incident involving the monkey being hit with a rock between the eyes forced Flock to pull of the track and lose a comfortable lead to have a monkey removed from his car.

Incredibly, Donnelly survived such an accident but he suffered brain and lung contusions as well as severe leg fractures, the latter of which almost necessitated the amputation of his right leg.
That really is the gearstick from his H-box sticking out from the car.

While not photographs, the motorsport photographer and artist Jayson Fong created 24 drawings/paintings for last years 24hrs Le Mans. Some of my favorites were:
1976 Daytona 500. David Hobbs (73) in his first of 2 NASCAR Winston Cup Series starts. The 52 was his teammate for the race, Earl Ross. Both would fail to finish the race. Ross blew an engine on lap 35 and Hobbs crashed on lap 68.
