CLASSIC RACING Sundays 17:00-19:00 GMT: "Ford Ferrari Wars" LEX CHAMP by 1 Point!Finished

Race Report - Grand Valley East & Grand Valley Speedway

Historic BSCC - Grand valley East

Some very close racing and good battles throughout the field. Ryan Racer came off at turn one, but then fought back through the field for the win

1st - Lex Lathor -
2nd - Ryan Racer - Renault 8
3rd - IfAndOr - Renault 8
4th - Smiley -

Ford Ferrari Wars - Grand Valley Speedway
The Chaparrals made their usual slow start. Makovics (Jaguar) led into turn one followed by Whispercrew and Sick Cylinder in their Ferraris. It was very difficult to pass and Sick only gained a place when Whisper made a slight error. There was extreme pressure from behind from Lex Lathor (Ford Mark 4) and Smiley (Jaguar). The slow starting Chaparral of Ryan Racer was expertly piloted through the leading group to the front eventually overhauling Makovics who had opened up a big gap on Sick. At the pitstop Sick gambled on 40 litres which enabled him to leave the pits ahead of Lex and pass the finish tape with just fumes remaining!

1st - Ryan Racer - Chaparral
2nd - Makovics - Jaguar XJ13
3rd - Sick Cylinder - Ferrari 330 P4
4th - Lex Lathor - Ford Mark 4
9th - Rehdogg - 1st in Category 2
10th - Maximusmonster - 2nd in Category 2

Caterham Cup - Grand Valley East

Another action packed Caterham Cup event - the car seemed very suited to this track. The action was unfortunately marred for Whispercrew by a first corner racing incident with Sick.

1st - Makovics
2nd - Lex Lathor
3rd - Flaco
4th - Rehdogg
5th Smiley

I enjoyed the racing last night and I've enjoyed watching the replays today.
I usually watch them from the Rear view. My opinion on the Caterham incident between Whisper and Sick is that Whisper was turning in whilst Sick was straightening up. They clashed and then clashed again, probably as they both tried to correct the steering and straightenup. It's tricky to know without seeing the steering input of both drivers. So I'll take the same view as Charlie Whiting (Race Director of F1) and say that incidents at the first corner are just racing incidents. Unfortunately, Whisper came of worse.
Regarding improving race awareness, I'm no expert but I try to check the side view before pulling across in front of people and keep an eye on my mirror and the blind spot indicators. I've found that doing the S class events and the Sierra events are good because they actively penalise you for bumping into other cars.
That said I still didn't get out of Makovics' way quickly enough again on the last lap when he was lapping me, because I thought he was Maximusmonster.
If you do watch the race again, I'd recommend watching the close racing between Smiley, Makovics and Flaco for the first few laps. At times you could throw a blanket over all three of them.

I actually really liked driving the 2D in the FFW's race. I did spin it once, but I managed not to roll it like I had been in practice. I even actually finished the race with the 3rd fastest lap. So the podium beckons for the next race! :)

The BSCC race was difficult in the Renault. Thank you all for you kind help with the set-ups, most were very similar. I used IfAndOr's in the end and it's much more drivable. I just need extra practice. I certainly can't blame the car or set-up as IfAndOr finished 3rd.

Does anyone have a decent tune for the Mini? I had a hard time getting that around the track.

Also, some of you guys are a lot faster than I remember. I was struggling to keep up with people I used to lap!

Could someone send me the replay files for the three races? I would really like to have them but I couldn´t save any due to the constant disconnects that plagued me in the last meeting. I really hope these disconnects will not become routine now. :(

Sut's seems to have had problems since the last update. I wonder if the increased load of the new community features is having an effect.

The trouble with the replay files Flaco, is that they are quite large - 40mb or so. Therefore can't be uploaded to GTP. I did try to send one to Smiley once by Email but it was still to large. Have you got a drop box type of file transfer account I could put them in? I was going to create one but haven't got around to it yet! :indiff:
Or if you (or others) have any other suggestions to send them.

I'm using this tune which is based on one by FergusMik - Flaco uses a different type of setup - there are different theories on this car.

Suspension
65 / 63
6.00 / 4.80
4 / 4
5 / 5
3 / 4
0.5 / 0.2
0.02 / -0.04

Racing Brake 1 / 3

Transmission - according to track and preference
LSD 16 / 10 / 6

Power - everything 262bhp and 530PP
Body - as light as possible 640kg

I´m no expert in this but if you can just zip them up I can un-zip them and put it onto my PS3?

Indeed, completely different. I put the mid-range Turbo on and long gears to shift very early at 6000 rpm max., it now drives like a Diesel powered Mini! :D

I wasn´t very happy with my performance, I was so upset because of the disconnects that I just couldn´t find a rythm with the Caterham. On top of that I was in constant fear of getting another disconnect again, at least it lasted until I reached the finish line as third, but a few seconds after the time table popped up, baam ... dc'd again.

I'm still upset, how often did I use the word "disconnect" in the last posts? Yeah, it´s like a nightmare! A "Human Drama" I guess? har har Kaz :grumpy:

@Flaco13 - Click on this link and then click on download to get the 3 replay files from this weeks meeting. 97.6mb in total!

They are zipped files containing the folders and files that GT6 outputs.
Unzip them, then via your memory stick put them into the PS3's Saved Data Utility (PS3) directory. From there I think you can load them via GT6.
Well I think that's how you do it. I haven't tried that bit.

Let me know if it works. And if successful I can use this method again if ever required.

*Anyone who'd like them can also use the link. You have 7 days before it expires and the files are deleted.

*Including Manny - Sick?

I can't download 3 replay files... :(

Try again Harsk. I originally had the incorrect link. (That was a test file I used to see if it worked.)
I'm downloading this replay now. Can it be converted to the video? Is because I haven't been in GT6 due to PS3 problems and I would like to put some highlights.

Great idea - hopefully he can edit it down into something short and exciting.

Congratulations to Lewis Hamilton on his second F1 title

Enjoy this magnificent Film "9 Days in Summer" from my favourite period of F1 - when the cars were unspoilt by wings and sponsorship logos and there was genuine variety in the engineering (Lotus Ford V8, BRM H16, Ferrari, Honda and Gurney Eagle V12).

John, I believe you are included in the next series. He's including all the regular drivers from this one. You're in the list of drivers along with our "Sick's Race Room Licence Grade"

Sick, for the next 3 weeks I may be late starting as I'm away each weekend. So please don't wait as I may be stuck in traffic or something and end up very late or missing the meeting entirely.

WHY U NO LIKE GORDINI???

It's not that I don't like it. I just can't drive it well. Yet... :)
When I joined this series I was using automatic gears and soon found that I couldn't drive many cars at all and was very slow. I'm improving though, so I'm sure I'll get it. Just need more practice.
When we have a classics race in all wheel drive Impreza's I'll be fine. Still slow, but I won't be spinning as much. :)

Not all of us are young, but today I came across this great trailer for "The Young Racers" which is so cheesy that I just had to share it with you all!

As Tony said in his post everyone currently racing with us will automatically be signed up for the next race series. I will hopefully be recruiting one or two more racers because it is always nice to start a new series with a full grid

Well, I couldn't seem to stay out of Ryan's way today.

I spun out on the starting line, and probably took out people with me. Then it just got worse.

When Ryan lapped me for the first time, I saw him coming down the little corkscrew, so I tried to move to the outside and give him the inside line for the left turn. Bam!

Later, I saw him about to lap me again on a straight, so I pulled off the track completely. But then I lost control, shot back onto the track, and completely took him out.

Another time, I was completely off the track and saw him and someone else spin out. At least I wasn't involved in that one.

Sorry, Ryan, but I was trying to stay out of the way!

I'm afraid to watch the replay.

EDIT: I watched the replay and it turns out I didn't cause the incident when I bounced back onto the track. Turns out Ryan had L tires of 4&3, and he lost control exiting the previous turn and spun past me. I feel better now, because I thought I was responsible. (21:28 on replay)
