Clean Sub-1-Minute Lap At Apricot Hill

I'm searching,but found none.So....
I always wonder,is it possible to do a clean lap at Apricot Hill under 1 minute?
If the answer is yes,how to do it?

I guess the Escudo should do it. This had shown the fastest cars in GT2, and I struggled to get a TS020 Race Car round the track faster than 1:01. Maybe this is possible though, I'm not sure. As far as I can see, the Escudo should definetely crack the 1-minute barrier (with proper settings obviously).

Yeah,i know about that.
But,it's still hard to tame it.Perhaps i should practicing on my tuning skill(lately i only mess around the suspension, gearbox, aerodynamical parts, and LSD setting on every car i have)
what is your fastest time,by the way?

Cool, another sub-minute lap challenge 👍.

I did some runs with the Escudo, and could only manage 1.00.438 at best. I'm 100% sure this time isn't the fastest though, as I only played with the settings a bit, and I'm not that good about tuning. If you can get to 1.01.xxx with a GT-One that's an amazing feat AAZ .

So here's my settings, maybe someone could help me improve it (where's sucahyo when you need him :banghead:?).
Racing SS Tires, FC LSD, No ASC/TCS
Spring Rate 20 20
Ride Height 95 95
Bound 7 7
Rebound 7 7
Camber 2.2 1.0
Toe 0 0
Stabilizer 3 3
Gear: Tranny trick, final drive at 3.000
Downforce 0.78 0.99
LSD In/Acc/Dec Default

Generally the car feels comfortable enough to drive, but I'm still having power-understeer during corner exit which caused me to lose fractions of seconds per corner. If these understeer can be eliminated then I'm sure 59 seconds or even 58 seconds laps are possible.

Hey,that is fast lap time there,LeGeNd-1
i'm troubled to break the 1:05 minute here.My best is 1:05.638.
The problem is the last chicane before the last turn(yup, that small chicane),i should be careful there because one little mistake,i could "out of course" & spinning around like a twister

EDIT:whoa!Just check your setting recently,it's fast like a big red rocket & seems like it need more attention from the driver.New personal record:1:03.215,let's do it again.
EDIT:whoa! Now it's 1:02.175,just by raise auto setup to 25 before final gear to 3.000.Your settings are quick LeGeNd-1,you know. That's help me a lot

Nice to know my settings are helping out to improve your times :). At least it tells me I'm not a complete failure in tuning cars . Keep trying 👍.

It's not what you drive, it's how you drive, that's so true... I can't even beat my TS020 time with the Excuseo  I'm so bad at driving it, no matter what settings do I use

Actually I'll maybe put my hands on it some later, now I have no Windows, and emulating the emulator here really does affect the performance sometimes :) So I hope this will help a bit...

Just out of curiosity, which TS020 did you use AAZ? The fully-tuned Road Version or the 98/99 Racing Version?

The problem with the Escudo is, there is no other car that has such raw speed that after driving a lot of other cars your reflexes can't keep up with what's going on. That may explain why you're driving the Escudo so badly.

I'm using the '98 Race Car.

About the Escudo -- yes, I agree with you. I can manage to complete the track, but the time will be horrific :) That's the problem -- I can't race it. Unless I decrease the FPS limit by 2 times :P

If you drive a car more often, eventually you will know how to gain total control of the car.
I can say this because it's happen to me oftenly(that's why my time here is faster when i'm using S2000 rather than using GT40 road car)

Yup, it's all about practice and getting used to. But some people just can't drive road rockets as well as they drive 'normal' cars. I'm sort of halfway between, I drive LMs, GTs and Special Models really well, not so good at driving the Escudo/Cultus and bone-stock vehicles.

With the Escudo keeping it on track is no problem, the problem I have is when I start pushing it to its limit. One second you have grip then the next you're sliding off the racing line. It's hard to judge where the 'mark' is because everything happens so quickly.

That's what happens to me now!

I'm get a good racing line, suddenly i enter a corner to fast and out of course in a blink!

Lap Time:1:00.472,but invalid:grumpy::mad::banghead:

better i try it again.

EDIT:lap time:1:02.048,new personal record after change the final gear to 3.215.
Hey,it's worth the try

If the answer is yes,how to do it?

I'm proud to be the 1st to crack the one minute barrier at Apricot Hill.
I did it with [R]Escudo Pikes Peak Version in 6 hour session of tuning.

Sector times:

S1 13.045
S2 16.708
S3 13.103
S4 16.940

Total 59.796 seconds
:D

Theoretically possible = 58.9xx seconds

The setup I used:

Suspension F R
Spring Rate 18.4 18.4
Ride Height 110 95
Bound 8 8
Rebound 1 1
Camber 0.0 0.0
Toe 0.10 -0.20
Stabilizer 4 4

Gearing
1st 6.285
2nd 5.356
3rd 3.515
4th 2.507
5th 1.888
6th 1.502
Final 2.000
Auto 25

Aerodynamics F R
Downforce 0.78 0.99

Others F R
LSD Initial 1 1
LSD Accel 56 1
LSD Decel 11 28
ASCC 26
TCSC 1

Tyre and Wheel
Tyre/Front Super Soft
Tyre/Rear Super Soft

Now is your turn to do it.

Damn, you've just set a historical record 👍. PD and Kaz Yamauchi must be proud of you now . Now it's my turn :mischievous:.

MadMax86,congratulations on breaking the one minute barrier!
Now it's my turn to try some.Perhaps i can come closer to possible time of 58.xxx
Your Friendly Neighbor,

Blazing Escudo

This is an interesting thread, shows i havent been around for a while...if i had id have been on here like a madman, even though i cant tune for (bleep) :)

yeah,try it!
Test both your driving & tuning skill!
Try beat the 1 minute barrier!
(off-line to try it once again)

I beat the record just now, but passing into the grass in the chicane before the last turn. For clean lap you mean "without cutting corners", right? Because if it is so, my lap certainly isn't valid.

P.S. 0.59.746

"without cutting corners" basicly means that you have atleast 2 wheels on the track, so that at finishline it doesn't say Invalid Lap.

I also had few Invalid Laps with actually better time than the clean lap, but
it's not shown at after race sector times :ouch:

By the way, did you use my setup on the escudo? :D

P.S. nice time

At the end, I didn't get any message such as "invalid lap", so, for the game, the lap would be valid...:)

Of course I used your settings... without them, I never got any laptime better than 1.03.xxx...

Here is a screenshot of the game just after completing the record lap...

Well done, that picture shows you have the lead.. 👍
This means that I shall return to tune the car even more.
But for now it would seem like I have created a sub minute runner where all should be able to start with.
As for me, my next goal is low 59's or high 58's :D

YESSSSSS!!!!!!! Finally I got under a minute!!!! I'm back in the game lads .

59.493

Theoretical time as shown by records screen is around 58.9xx

I used the same settings as yours MadMax, but with a few modifications:
Springs: 17.8 18.4
Gear: Tranny Trick, Final @ 2.800
No ASC
TCS 51

BTW, when I try to input your gear settings (from 2nd to 6th gear), the gear values are out of range ? Are you sure you didn't mistype it or something?

Anyway, try out my settings, maybe you guys could get it under 59 secs 👍.

Congrats LeGeNd-1 incredible time 👍

Nope, they are correct. I've checked this.

here's my latest statement :

escudobackinbusinessyl8.jpg

The 1st secror was weak, but all after that was strong
Looking at my best 1st sector you can tell for sure that a low 59's is more than a theory :D

escudoback2businesseq5.jpg

Only changes I did to original setup is : TCSC to 9 and Final Gear ratio to 2.400

I bet Patruck GT2 will be able to improve his time with these adjustments.

And you can propably tell that I do this on tv/ps2 , not emulator :sly:

The game is on!

So this is becoming a two (or three) horse race eh? I'll see if I can go even faster.

From the sector times it looks like the last sector is the deciding one isn't it? Even if you're slow everywhere else but you have a fast last sector you'll still get a good time. Problem is, it's my weakest sector in terms of consistency :ouch:, until now I still don't have a reliable line through the chicane (as indicated by my many 'out of course' times).

:scared: I think my lap isn't valid. This, because when I made that record I used epsxe 1.7.0 in GT mode.
I entered the race and run in the practice mode, and then I made the record. I also had to use a gameshark code, because there isn't any race the Escudo can enter at Aprico Hill.
Now, I tried beating the record on an original PSX console, with arcade disc, and it says Invalid lap!

I'm sorry for this, I'll try to make a clean lap with the PSX and arcade disc now...

Kudos to you for admitting your invalid lap 👍. GT2 should really be more consistent with their 'out of course' range on tracks.
