Would be a shame to let it get to waste. If you make this into something graphic, an advertisment, announcement, poster, whatever, it can become a legit entry anyway. And if you're capable of creating this, then I'm sure turning it into a graphic item won't be a problem.

Hmm, well I'm not averse to trying it, next big-ish theme we get I'll make it a two week-er. It won't be next week (... as I think I'll be picking the theme ;)) but maybe the week after. I'll close this current week off on Tuesday afternoon my time, that should give everybody here the full weekend to hopefully knock out an entry.

Any objections?

I think the reason people don't enter is definitely because of the theme and not because of the lack of time. Sometimes it could be because of time, but most likely it's because of the theme. So I don't think making a certain theme 2 weeks long is going to increase the number of entries. You might get one or two more, but that's it. I think we would all enjoy it more when we get a new theme every week. Then we don't have to wait as long for the next theme! And we are all excited when a new theme is about to open up, am I right?

Well, you are only partial right. The thing is that multiple people state that they want to enter (or some even already working on something), but can't enter due to lack of time. GPR and Fido Le Muet both started working on their entry in the Movie Poster comp, but couldnt enter. This competition again we had people stating they liked the theme, but aren't sure of competing due time.

The people that just don't like the theme usually read and ignore the thread. Why would anyone who doesnt want to enter because of the theme reply in a topic where they say they would like to enter, but can't due to time?

So I get your message as well, but its clear due to multiple posts that time is an issue. And in this competition having those 2 or 3 people more entering, makes a difference, because the amount of competitors is low.

I don't think the theme (this week anyway) is the issue, i think its a great theme! its very 'open' so there are loads of possible ideas on how you can take this into making it a poster or whatever, so anyone with half a creative brain should be able to come up with something....but you also need skills/talent of some level with photoshop etc to really enter this comp (like 440 Charger mentioned)

but maybe it being too 'open' of a theme is the problem? but i can't see it.

time is my problem on this, a week is too short...if some turn around now and said you have exact 2 weeks from today i would enter, as i know that work give me a bigger chance of enter something worthy of entering, with a week...sure i could prob enter something but is would look a bit crap/rubbish and a hal attempt at it, so i would save myself the bother of even entering it
 
Time and some themes are both issues.

I think we should do as Rev said, just move the deadline up to monday evening or tuesday morning so people have a full weekend to work on their entries. It's obvious that people are more available during weekends so why not just shift the comp by a day or two ? The deadline would come on tuesdays instead of sundays and the voting could just shift as well by a day or 2.
At the moment, we have the PMC 2.0 and Photoshop comp ending on sundays, I say we shift the Photoshop one to tuesdays.

I hope everyone understand my point, english isn't my native tongue :P
 
i agree about both needing more time and good themes. tho i look forward to next week for a new theme. i have an idea 4 this weeks theme but dont know if i can be done by sunday. so i like the full weekend idea 2 :)
 
As I said before, I love Bonkmeister's theme and would like to participate.
Deadlines on Monday or Tuesday would generally fit my time schedules best.

Alright, well we will see what happens then I guess! I'm not trying to argue or anything, just some formal discussion. But I, personally, don't think it's going to make a difference. In my opinion, if someone wants to enter then they are going to enter, despite how much time is allotted. If they aren't so excited about the theme (like myself) there is a possibility they might enter, but probably not. And then if they do, it might not have a whole lot of thought put into it and it might not have even been worth it. I guess I only speak for myself, but the quality and quantity of the entries varies quite a bit depending on how accessible the theme is. Therefore I don't think the amount of time is going to make a difference.

I propose this idea. You can extend the deadline of some of the competitions depending on the theme. Great. But maybe still offer a new competition each week, and when there is an extended competition, make the theme "Open". The winner of the open theme will not get to pick the next theme, rather the winner of the extended theme will choose. Just an idea. That way some of us (especially those who enter in the first couple of days) don't have to wait two weeks for a new theme.

Just a thought. Take from it what you like. :)
 
Thanks Bonkmeister, I will have to see where else I can find time. The end of my week is more than a little insane.
 
i would like to see longer deadlines too. I have a good idea for this comp but i dont have photoshop. i've found some comparable programs but this is thursday night and im still trying to figure out how to make the programs do what i want.

p.s. I don't know how to work photoshop either.
 
I think Gtuned should win this by default by virtue of the fact he got his entry out so fast and used Paint.net to do it!!! Not to mention it's still the only entry!
 
screw it! no real plans for the weekend so will spend a few hours with photoshop tomorrow and come up with an entry of some sort for this :)
 
I'd like to thank Bonkmeister für this inspiring theme.
I spent a lot of time researching the subject and had fun galore watching those great youtube videos about Gumball 3000.
As a result I created this co-driver ticket which – I'm sure – everyone of you would like to own :)​

deadline is tomorrow 27.3.2011 any specific deadline time? like 5:00pm GMT? just mine is half done atm and i'll prob need to spend time finishing it tomorrow
 
Deadline is tuesday as far as I understood Revolution, since we're trying out to let the comp run from tuesday to tuesday.
 
Ooh yeah thanks for the reminder, I'll go update that now :)
I'll be closing it Tuesday Adelaide time (GMT+10:30) probably around midday so depending on where you are it might be Monday. Either way everybody should have the entire weekend to do an entry. I'll put the closing date as the Monday so that people in a time zone many hours behind my own won't be confused when I close the comp before Tuesday their time!
 
Alright guys, roughly 24 hours remaining... prove to me that pushing the comp forwards by 24 hours was worth it :P
 
Finally got my entry finished, tried to put as much detail as i can into this, hope you all like it. All 3 of the cars were like doing an entry for the Race Mod comp lol

my entry, noting special..i know that myself that with more time i could improve, i didn't spend any time on sunday on it which now i realise i should maybe have done but anyway, regards of that and my average photoshop skills I hope you guys at least liek my idea/concept or take on the Gumball 3000 theme. What i did was blend it with the historic cannonball run, yes you know what i'm taking about...you all seen the movies!
