6th Image isn't a Straight and Come on.
Neither did I nor Jamie make the Poll which is strange .But anyway congrats to those who did
Answer is below ...
i didnt make it either
and yeah whats up with the 6th?
Aidan, your pic was excellent with the backfire and I can understand how hard it was to capture it, but in close up shots I always get distracted by the circles not being circles but polygonals with slightly defined sides. If it's any consolation, you were one of the last to drop out.
Sorry
Any thoughts on why I didn't make it ?
While your pic is good, it is a little dark and didn't jump at me right away. I guess it's a matter of preference.

RE: #6
As far as I know (though obviously it's JediRage's call, not mine), it was chosen because while the car in the image is rounding a turn, the highlight of the image, the focal point, is the straight?
Eh, my interpretation, though I'll even admit, it's a long stretch of one
Yes, that is correct. This is one of the grey areas I was worried about. And at first I wasn't going to consider this. But take for example some of the shots in the curves poll. They have just exited or are entering a curve but not actually on it. But they still count as curves photos. I chose this photo because the primary focus was the long straight (and he's managed to get the pits too) and the lighting is just about right.
I have a question, why didn't my shot make the poll:
Good shot overall. Just like Aidan's you were perhaps the last one to drop out. The thing that decided against you were the lighting (I know you were going for a certain effect) but I had to strain my eyes to see the car and the road lines ahead. I like the idea but the execution was just a tad off. Maybe in 2.0 you might have been able to pull off what you wanted to do .
Wow, surprise i didn't make into the poll. Thought i could get a ago on this PMC.
Mind share your thought on
this?
I might sound like a broken record here, but you were also one of the last to drop out. I just felt that it lacked a certain character, something to differentiate it from a regular high speed photo. In some ways it was harder to judge the straight lines because the margin between the entries was much closer.
I see B&W is a common trend in the straight bunch
Bugatti and straight line go hand in hand.
Haha, yeah. I was aware that was the case, but what could I do? They were excellent all of them.
Man, I thought I had a good chance at making this poll. Oh well, I'll have to cross my fingers for the CCCL poll
Some really great pics here, good job to everyone that made it!
The brightness put me off a bit. Maybe if you had changed dimensions to a narrower image, it would have also helped to draw attention tot he straight behind it.
Hope this answers any lingering questions (and the confusion around #6). I'd like to point out that the theme was paramount to me and if your photo didn't make it, ask yourself if you were concentrating on the shape of the track and if the photo actually showed it. I saw some close ups of cars and close ups of rumble strips but I didn't think they fit the theme well.
Anymore questions, post them here or PM me.
