That's an awesome poll guys! Glad I didn't entered PMC again. I somehow unlearned to shoot good pics like that without editing:P

small review

match6 - sar593 vs. Apperosio
Not an easy theme. Sar593 though did it perfect! The F1's were the right choice for it.👍
Also the atmosphere and focus worked well in it. I somehow feel the heat and intensity of a F1 start.
All this is missing in Apperosio's shot. It feels a bit to static and uneventful. Also that there's only the same car in it destroyed it a bit for me:indiff:
But the sky, street and building looks great in it! Looks beautiful when viewed full-size. But as I said, it's the atmosphere that gave sar593 my vote.

Well, you stated it nicely. When I look at my shot again it totally lacks soul/feeling/emotion or whatever you can call it. Nothing happens in it. I tried, but it isn't my best work. Sar593 did a very nice job. It has that exciting feeling of an F1 start in it. This one didn't work out for me. Better shot next time! 👍

Haha – you are kidding!
I loved to read your review: most of that fits my MHO.
And above that you did a lot of work and a good job, too. I appreciate that though not being entrant of this PMC tour.
Maybe because I somehow unlearned to shoot good pics like that without editing

I think if used multiple cars it would've gotten many more votes.

Also the best thing I figured out is to take multiple shots 100+ of different locations, cars, weather, etc. Take those 100 or how ever many and move the 10 best into a new folder and just keep narrowing them down. I stare at 3 pictures for over an hour just rotating back and forth before I send mine in usually. Don't be afraid to experiment.

Hang on.. Murcie_LP640's preview is cropped.. :indiff: It's shorter than it should be.. Not trying to get him disqualified (if that happens, which it shouldn't), just thought I would say as I noticed it.

Review Time!

Match 1: ijkhk4 vs Soloracer3 - Nobody decided to take a chance with a real 4x4?! ;). Already off to a tough start for PMC; the composition of the first image is superior, but the car is slightly out of focus, whereas the Evo is sharp, but the composition is a bit flat in comparison. I realize the blur will always come out that way since it's drifting, but in this instance, it's more distracting to me than normal, since the road texture takes up such a large portion of the image. Hemming and hawwing, I finally gave my vote to the RUF.

Match 2: Murcie_LP640 vs Boabdulrahman - Ah, such a good theme ;). I only see a hint of black wheels in both, though! While the second shot is more atmospheric, and the Eiger tunnel is one of this sections most-seen locations, it's hard to argue with the crispness of the Evora. Similar compositions (one just leaning "down", the other leaning "up"), but the greater colour depth, crispness, and increased detail gave it to the Evora for me :)

Match 3: Jason_B vs Ph1lmar - The hardest decision of the division for me. Both images, to me, highlight the "Soul", while Jason's showcases the literal "Heart", and Ph1l's, the "Passion" associated with driving a thoroughbred Italian. The F40 isn't lacking passion either, though; it feels like a slow-motion crawl down the F40's flanks, that typical car-pr0n stuff we see on Top Gear and the like. Both suffer from some slight over-exposure, but that angle and the clever use of depth of field in the F40 shot just gave it the edge. I can't stress enough how tough the decision was for this one.

Match 4: Mudklipz vs tonilleshusband - Heh, I should've called you both using that car! It's a good one, and is shown off well in Mudklipz' photo, its Standard-ness not being too apparent. What's impressive is the lack of artifacting and pixelization in the snow-wake of the car. Tonilleshusband's suffers a slight problem with that on the trailing edge, but the evocative tone makes up for it for me. Not quite as hard as the previous match when it came time to vote, but very nearly.

Match 5: ziggedzag vs GOTMAXPOWER - Old vs new, solo vs duel, these are two very different shots. Ziggedzag's seems too... simplified, to me, like it's running from a different LOD model of the 330 than normal. The reflections/shadows look simpler than normal. The background is distracting as well. It's a bit jarring, to be honest. The LMP duel has an odd problem of seeming to be out-of-focus, and suffers from a relatively small resolution. That said, it had more "feeling" to me, like two competitors duking it out as they start the night portion of the 24h, so it got the vote for me.

Match 6: sar593 vs Apperosio - Hey! These are way too similar! :P. While Apperosio's nearly got the vote for me thanks to a nicely defined sky and asphalt in the preview, the latter suffered in full-size. It also felt very strange to see a grid of Vettes, as opposed to sar's entry, where a grid of Formula cars seems absolutely normal. The nice depth of field sealed it for me!

Match 7: 725 vs Lellep - Oh, another tough one! I'm not typically a fan of the dark shots, and it's arguable which image follows the theme more; 725's shows more smoke, but Lellep's painted two lines down. Very interesting they both picked G's! I guess I ended up with 725's on the basis it's darkness helped me focus on the subject at hand; just a bit of the G's backside, and a big puff of smoke front and centre.

Match 8: ashes619 vs Gtuned - The nail-biter! Both go about their goal differently, but both produced some stunning images. The Audi for it's sharpness, close-up, bright colours (if, even as Mitch said, they seem an odd match for Audi), and vertical orientation, which makes the partial cropping of the car more acceptable. Or the M3 GTS replica, with a seriously smooth, almost surreal blur with the narrow DoF, leaving the car in perfect focus. I voted for the Audi, but they both deserve votes as the BMW image is definitely a grower. The most exciting matchup, for sure!

I guess my attempt fell flat. Props and congrats to GOTMAXPOWER, I really like his shot. I was hoping that showing the P4 in a darker, more muted coloring would better convey the race. Seriously, the shiny doesn't last too many laps at Le Mans. I thought the bottom of the Dunlop Bridge was a sharp comparison to the headlights and worked well with the bokeh of the road. Oh well, another good qualifier, another first round exit.:(

Best of luck to everyone going forward. Looking forward to seeing what's to come!

Congratulations Jason, I guess you took it :)
Nice shot, didn't expect our match to be that close!

Thanks for the tip. No excuses, but didn't have the time to do that. I had my shots taken, but they were all of a rolling start :dunce: Then I read the rules again: no movement allowed :grumpy:. I couldn't figure out how to take a grid start :odd:. When I found out that it could be done in practice mode, I tried the DTM start again..... but then you get all the same cars :dopey: All Alfa Romeo's or Audi's. The pressure was building at that point, cause I had to go to work . Then: brainwave! Corvette's starting at Le Mans 👍 They all had different colours. I experimented a bit at the starting grid and liked this angle with the filled tribunes and the buildings, clouds etc. Took a couple of shots with different lightning and filters and uploaded then on Flickr. Took my pick and jumped on my iron horse and raced off to work. Stressfull it is, these Tournaments :D

You guys know this still has several hours left before the poll closes. That's too long to predict a winner in my match and the first match. :nervous:

Congratulations to Murcie_Lp640
You deserve it man !
I felt like i achieved something by going to the next round and losing to a great opponent as it is only my second week here in gtplanet
I would like to thank the judges and organisers for this fantastic tournament
And at last i would like to say, that hopefully i'll be back =)

Agreed anything under 5 is definitely going to be a nail biter. Especially since the article is up on the front page.

COMEBACK BABY
I was down by like 5 last night and now i'm behind only 1...

Oh shoot  I'd almost lost hope when I'd dropped like 6 votes behind now its a tie. Thanks a load everyone whos voted for me so far :D I really appreciate it. May the best man win ijkhk4 👍

Hey guys, just informing I changed a rule about ties, since in case of a tie and if I create another 24h poll to untie, the same person will vote in the same picture and would end in another tie (unless some don't vote) and since I am the host, my vote will be the deciding factor.

So does this mean I go through ahead of ijkhk4 as I got your vote?

Ijkhk4, your shot was brilliant 👍 the use of the RUF was really good as it wasn't the expected car at all unlike mine and you made the standard look great 👍 It has been a great match 👍

I also had some trouble getting the right cars, I wanted to make something with Super GT or DTM cars, but wasn't possible. Ended working with Formula GT, kart and Ferrari F1. I liked your pictures, the sky and building works very good, but it is a shame you didn't have more time to work on the competition. But better luck for the next tournament, and the weekly competitions! 👍
