Review Time!
Match 1: ijkhk4 vs Soloracer3 - Nobody decided to take a chance with a
real 4x4?!

. Already off to a tough start for PMC; the composition of the first image is superior, but the car is slightly out of focus, whereas the Evo is sharp, but the composition is a bit flat in comparison. I realize the blur will always come out that way since it's drifting, but in this instance, it's more distracting to me than normal, since the road texture takes up such a large portion of the image. Hemming and hawwing, I finally gave my vote to the RUF.
Match 2: Murcie_LP640 vs Boabdulrahman - Ah, such a good theme

. I only see a hint of black wheels in both, though! While the second shot is more atmospheric, and the Eiger tunnel is one of this sections most-seen locations, it's hard to argue with the crispness of the Evora. Similar compositions (one just leaning "down", the other leaning "up"), but the greater colour depth, crispness, and increased detail gave it to the Evora for me
Match 3: Jason_B vs Ph1lmar - The hardest decision of the division for me. Both images, to me, highlight the "Soul", while Jason's showcases the literal "Heart", and Ph1l's, the "Passion" associated with driving a thoroughbred Italian. The F40 isn't lacking passion either, though; it feels like a slow-motion crawl down the F40's flanks, that typical car-pr0n stuff we see on Top Gear and the like. Both suffer from some slight over-exposure, but that angle and the clever use of depth of field in the F40 shot
just gave it the edge. I can't stress enough how tough the decision was for this one.
Match 4: Mudklipz vs tonilleshusband - Heh, I should've called you both using that car! It's a good one, and is shown off well in Mudklipz' photo, its Standard-ness not being too apparent. What's impressive is the lack of artifacting and pixelization in the snow-wake of the car. Tonilleshusband's suffers a slight problem with that on the trailing edge, but the evocative tone makes up for it for me. Not quite as hard as the previous match when it came time to vote, but very nearly.
Match 5: ziggedzag vs GOTMAXPOWER - Old vs new, solo vs duel, these are two very different shots. Ziggedzag's seems too... simplified, to me, like it's running from a different LOD model of the 330 than normal. The reflections/shadows look simpler than normal. The background is distracting as well. It's a bit jarring, to be honest. The LMP duel has an odd problem of seeming to be out-of-focus, and suffers from a relatively small resolution. That said, it had more "feeling" to me, like two competitors duking it out as they start the night portion of the 24h, so it got the vote for me.
Match 6: sar593 vs Apperosio - Hey! These are way too similar!

. While Apperosio's nearly got the vote for me thanks to a nicely defined sky and asphalt in the preview, the latter suffered in full-size. It also felt very strange to see a grid of Vettes, as opposed to sar's entry, where a grid of Formula cars seems absolutely normal. The nice depth of field sealed it for me!
Match 7: 725 vs Lellep - Oh, another tough one! I'm not typically a fan of the dark shots, and it's arguable which image follows the theme more; 725's shows more smoke, but Lellep's painted two lines down. Very interesting they both picked G's! I guess I ended up with 725's on the basis it's darkness helped me focus on the subject at hand; just a bit of the G's backside, and a big puff of smoke front and centre.
Match 8: ashes619 vs Gtuned - The nail-biter! Both go about their goal differently, but both produced some stunning images. The Audi for it's sharpness, close-up, bright colours (if, even as Mitch said, they seem an odd match for Audi), and vertical orientation, which makes the partial cropping of the car more acceptable. Or the M3 GTS replica, with a seriously smooth, almost surreal blur with the narrow DoF, leaving the car in perfect focus. I voted for the Audi, but they both deserve votes as the BMW image is definitely a grower. The most exciting matchup, for sure!
