My PS3 died yesterday.

R.I.P. Sal's PS3

November 12th 2010 - Feb 15th 2014
I have however been watching djwhetzel's videos on YouTube, and I highly recommend that whoever is having YLOD problems do the same. I can't carry out the process due to a lack of key tools, specifically a Heat Gun and Thermal Paste. I will revive my PS3, like Jesus, in a few months when I go back home.

I request that I be taken off the member list @Ameer67 and @ProjectWHaT.

See you guys. It's been a short ride, but a fun one nonetheless.

Four years. What games do you guys play? :odd: I'm surprised that some PS3's are dying like this. :(
Mine is 6 years old. :boggled:

The current Superslim is still going strong. :D

ANy lobbies today anyone?

I found out that my two cats were fighting around and they wrestled towards my modem and knocked the plug out, so I was trying to figure out where the plug went. That is why I left early during the COTW.

I saw my PS3 on so I thought it was on all night by accident.

Well, when I went on this morning at around 9am/10am my time, you were on. And by the time I got off (12pm?), you were still on.

I'm guessing that it was probably on all night. ;p

RIP WHaT's new PS3.

Pfft... My 40 GB, is still kicking back home. Running 8 years now. Unfortunately I don't have it with me, so I'm going to temporarily fix my 160 GB fat boy. A friend of mine said he might have what I need, so I might - emphasis on might - be able to run GT6 and have my triumphant return....

:( I think my PS3's disc reader is about retired now. The system still works though. I may not be on for a bit until I get a new PS3 because the rest of the system is wrapping up. So, I might have to say...
R.I.P
"Fat" PS3

2008-2014

MAYBE.

This makes me have a question. If my PS3 does die (:(), is it possible that I can transfer the data or hard drive from this one to the new one??

NOPE! I got it working this morning!!!

I'm pretty sure you can via Ethernet cable.

IT MAY NOT BE DISK DRIVE!!! Tell me, what does your PS3 do except not reading disks? Does it make an ejecting noise when you insert a disk?

At first I would put the disc in and the PS3 pulled it in. Nothing happens. The blue light was on but not reading. When I put GT6 in this morning, it made a soft whirring sound and stopped. Happened again and stopped. Finally, it started to run and stay on. It has done this for quite a while with the "cranking" of the disc drive. I think it's normal because it reads the disc still. :D:D

I think I might have to start thinking about a new PS3 because it's been freezing, making three beeps and restarting itself. :(
