Clutch and mis-shifts in GT5

The clutch seems to be even more sensitive in GT5 than it was in GT5P.

With the clutch, I really have to slow down my shifts to not miss a gear. The worst is the 1st to 2nd upshift...if I'm even slightly back on the gas it's jammed in neutral.

I then noticed after I bought an used Subaru STi Ver. 6, I could bang through all the gears very fast without mis-shifting. I thought maybe it was related to leveling up, but nope, my other cars still have to granny shift. I was testing the clutch engagement point, and it seems like with this car it engages relatively high...while my other cars where engaging really low.

Anyone else notice certain cars easier to shift than others? Does upgrading the clutch and/or transmission boxes help with more aggressive gear changes?

I purchased the '71 Mustang Mach1 last night and took it through its paces at Laguna Seca. I too noticed that I was missing the gears, seemed extremely sensitive. I did upgrade to a Dual Plate Clutch and semi-racing Fly wheel and it seemed to have helped with my shifting or at least I thought. I am curious if it gets better when I upgrade the transmission all together? I also noticed that if I spun in the curve and went into the grass or gravel that I had a heck of time getting the car to go. It seemed like the car died, stalled, or shut off completely. It didn't matter what gear I was in whether it be Reverse, 1st or even second. After a few seconds in gear and gas pressed the RPM's would rev and car would start moving again.

Anyways its a Ford, Its an old Muscle Car, the Transmissions and shifters back in the 60's and 70's were sloppy anyways. I think this is baseline for this Car! 👍

yeah, i bought better clutch/flywheel to see if it would help. i am not sure if it did or if it was just placebo, since I was still getting used to the game when i was miss shifting... guess I'll take the parts off and see if i can discern anything.

I think most people complaining about the game having a bug for shifting from 1st to 2nd need to realise that in real life shifting up into second takes longer than for other gears. Just try holding the clutch in a touch longer and letting the revs drop slightly and you will find the mis-shifts magically disappear!

All you need to in GT to have perfect changes is to not have any throttle on at all when changing gears. Has been the way since GT5P.

Not true at all bluecat. I drive a wrx and can shift way faster in it than gt5. Believe me i do not need to be completely off throttle for it to go into second.

Wow this sounds like a blast from the past from NFS Shift! You are correct about holding the clutch a touch longer which is 99% of the issue with missing a shift. We are talking about missing the shift all together not about the timing between shifting 1st and 2nd gears. I guess the real question here is if upgrading the Transmission, clutch, etc will help with the mis-shifts? The revs should not have to drop to shift, that is what power shifting is all about.
