AC Cobra 427 '66 Supercharger
Based on: Shelby Cobra 427 '66

Price of Stock Car: 530,550 cr.
Price of Tuning: 222,000 cr. (Roughly)

Power: 764bhp
Weight: 918kg
Power to Weight Ratio: Approx 832.24bhp
0-62 Time: 2.8 secs
Top Speed: 192mph
0 - 192 Time: 15.1 secs

Recommended settings:
All driving aids off
ABS = 1

The Cobra's 7 Liter V8 packs a painful punch, propelling the lightweight alluminium roadster to speeds in excess of 180 in short spaces. The car has been lowered by a considerable amount, the suspension has been tweaked for optimum performance, and the engine has been tuned beyond recognition. This beast has been drag raced by me vs an untouched Zonda R '09, and the Cobra left it for dead. When you take this car onto a track, it cannot be stressed enough to be careful. Do not accelerate until you know it's safe to, as you WILL spin. The car handles well but the rear wheels are coping with a lot of power. This is one hell of a car, with next to no downforce to keep you on the track. Skill required.

PARTS TO PURCHASE:
Body/Chassis: Stage 3 Weight Reduction
Rigidity Improvement

Engine: Sports ECU
Stage 1, 2 and 3 Engine Tuning

Intake System: Sports Intake Manifold
Racing Air Filter

Exhaust: Sports Exhaust Manifold
Catalytic Converter: Sports
Titanium Racing Exhaust

Turbo Kits: Supercharger

Transmission: 5 Speed Close-Ratio Transmission

Drivetrain: Clutch: Twin-Plate
Flywheel: Semi-Racing
Fully Customisable LSD
Carbon Propeller Shaft

Suspension: Fully Customisable Kit

Tyres: Racing Soft

Drivetrain Settings:
LSD:
Initial Torque: 10
Acceleration Sensitivity: 35
Braking Sensitivity: 20

Suspension Settings: Front Rear
Suspension:
Ride Height Adjustment (mm) -25 -16
Spring Rate (kgf/mm): 8.5 7.6
Dampers (Extension): 4 4
Dampers (Compression): 5 5
Anti-Roll Bars: 6 6

Wheel Alignment:
Camber Angle (-): -1.5 -1.0
Toe Angle: 0.05 0.30

If the car is producing too much power for you to handle, just uninstall all of the Air Intake parts and the Supercharger. The setup is still great for that.

Uhmm I was only in the Cobra yesterday... It may have been a team mate... TeamLotus_Seven or Esprit maybe?

I like B spec. Its fun to see how fast Bob completes a track and then test my skills. Plus when I need easy money and need to take care of something around the house, I enjoy seeing what he can do in cars he has no business racing. Right now my highest rated bob is 38 and will be 39 after completing the first 24 hour race at 2 pm tomorrow.

Did you keep the brake balance at 5/5?

try 7/3 or 6/4

I didnt really put one down due to the fact i forgot, but I could lie and say it depends which track you are on...

It depends which track you are on.

I went with 7/3 and so far Bob is holding his own in the Historic Cup..3rd place after two laps..

Thats brilliant considering the cobra is not an aerodynamic machine compared to those ferrari's etc.

Lol, yeah..really pushing bob hard the last few laps ended up spinning..he was in 3rd/4th for the first 4 ish laps, so the set up was fantastic. Just wanted to see if I could do it with out buying another car for Bob. Thank you.

I'm going to take it around the NBR and see how it stacks..

Tried it out at my own online lobby. For "me" its to instable in fast corners (+ bit slower than it could be!!) and it doen't cover the problem at corner exit. BUT! Its very direct in slow passages.

Sure, a direct handling is very welcome, but what do you wanna do with it when there are other big problems? Corner exit is a very important part and this setup can't solve this problem. I know you could solve it very easy with very small changes here and there. The best result would come from LSD!

Sorry when I'm to critical, its just because I made my own setup a week ago and because I know how good this car can drive. Work a lil bit more on the corner exit problem and it will be a good one!

I tuned this car so it does still bite out of the corners. I do two types of tunes: Pure racers and Fun road/track cars. This Cobra is the latter. If you want a tune where the car is perfect, sure go ahead and make one, but it then turns the car into something that is nothing like the cobras of old.

A Cobra will always bite you. The question is, should it be controllable when it happens, or will it hinder you to smoke the tire.. A controlled drift is much funnier than a 360 ;)

Meh, wheres the realism there. The whole point of the Cobra is to scare you into not making a mistake. I never have problems with this car, just ease the throttle out of corners. If you take it by the scruff of the neck and floor it, its controllable to a point. I done a 1.27.1xx around Trial Mt, and that rivals a lot of supercars. All I'm saying is that if you can control the slide, It's no longer a Cobra.

:)

Great setup! Well, im not the best driver... But I'm close to winning the Historic Racing Car Cup. Cote de Azur is history :) That track is good for practicing when to brake. I'm still practicing, but the car is defenitly controllable, if you just apply the brakes right.

Thanks for the feedback ;)

I'm just curious, how do you measure the acceleration times of the cars you tune? Do you use the lap timer from a standing start, or is there some way to do it in the game?

i used a much lower rear spring rate and had the lsd set to 55 on accel. anti roll bar in rear to 1 front 4 and it seams to hook up good on throttle. whats weired is i can get the car to handle awsome in pratice then i go online and the rear end bottoms out constantly? (on the ring anyway)

Yes I definetly have trouble keeping this car ('66 cobra) on the pavement. darn thing wants to spin and get sideways on me everytime! Yes I am using racing soft tires to get the maximum grip but it still is a hard car to keep steady. I will try your set-up and I hope it works...I love the cobra and have already put alot of money into it so i want to keep it.:)

Please share, or GTFO.

WHEN I'm going to share, than not at this place anyway.. Just keep your eyes open and maybe you will see it someday, but not yet and not here.

@Fastphil96
In practice mode there is something that is called "datalog". Find a track with a long straight, accelerate from 0 to X, complete this one lap and look at datalog.

@zodicus
When you wanna drive in online mode, than forget practice and start your own lobby. GT-Mode and Online-Mode differ on some points.

Few questions,
Can you put a turbo charger on this car? I heard someone online say he got 900Hp out of his cobra. I have 2 of these cars, but I'm away from the PS3 at the moment to check.
Does this tune work with the AC Cobra too?
