Cockpit/HUD... wtf.

So the one thing I liked about FM3 was that you could clear the HUD when using the cockpit view, and even though the models and textures were terrible it added to the immersion.

Now I start up the latest GT5 demo and it feels no different than Prologue first of all. But what I don't understand is why almost nothing works correctly in the cockpit view. Clock doesn't work, speedometer is inaccurate, I can't move the driver's head, but most importantly I can't unclutter the HUD.

Does PD just not care about this? I refused to buy FM2 for it's terrible replays and won't think twice about skipping GT5 if they're not going to take cockpit view seriously... It's about more than nice looking textures.

Haven't you heard, the demo only is there to showcase PD's work on physics. The demo wasn't made to show what PD had done to the HUD.

Cockpit view is ok to me.
But the clock could work properly, while i'm playing GT PSP and i don't have to press the PS button to see the time is so good, and it make the game looks better, really, such a little thing, but i loved it. =]

PD are taking it more seriously than you have it seems, as G.T.Ace has explained.

Mate, say what you want...you will still buy it even if the cockpit view is a little off. We all know you will.

It's all getting a bit ridiculous what sort of reasons some posters give on this site to skip the game. "I don't like the HUD in cockpit view, I'll skip the game" (ironically it's easily the most beautiful cockpit view in any game to date), "No skidmarks, I'll skip the game", "Not being able to do donuts, skip the game". It's unreal. And all of that based off a time trial demo.

Give it time mate, we are all eager to see what they had done to the cockpit & HUD. You have many options for track map preference on the HUD in the demo, which is a good sign. I think its highly likely you will be able to switch it off.

No word on a working clock in cars that have them, but we'll see.

wtf wtf wtf, someone else has something else to say about a demo that everyone knows is extremely limited, wtf wtf wtf NO NASCAR, wtf NO DAMAGE.

I'm away to play Forza 3 on my 360. GT5 will be rubbish.

Don't get me wrong i love GT and all, but i'm a new member and on my computer i don't see a search button, wtf.

:dunce:

Yeah, and wtf, you're not even able to rewind when you're playing! That totally blows and is very unrealistic, because when you're a n00b like me that's a must in almost every corner! :grumpy:

God bless Forza Motorsport 3 and Microsoft!

Oh, don't get me started on that... That's the reason why I rarely come back here any more. Seemingly thousands of immature posts by people who have either confused speculation with fact or believe that GT5 will be 100% perfect with no room for improvement, claiming that they will boycott the game over the most pedantic little detail.

Seriously, it got old when people were complaining about the lack of damage but that was a halfway legitimate concern (though I didn't personally care either way, I play the game for the driving physics and the hundreds of cars), but skidmarks? Are these people really going to drive around looking through the rear view mirror or something?

Do all these people look like Brad Pitt and drive around in Lamborghinis? I really doubt it.

If the in car clock doesnt work in the final version I am going to nuke my PS3...

On a more serious note how much do people expect on a 200mb demo?

Oh god! I am so annoyed that the A/C buttons in the 370z aren't 100% accurate, I think PD need to get a grip and up their standards, seriously, oh yeah and you can move the camera ;)

Meh you should see the Forza forum, they are much better at it. They have real things to complain about in their game.

2nd best post of 2009!

:sly:👍

I at least expected reverse lights, skidmarks, real time dynamic deformation, rollover, destructible cockpit view, head tracking, dust clouds, dynamic weather, officials waving flags with cloth physics on them, rain on the windshield simulated through advanced fluid physics, 4D spectators (which the PS3 is of course capable of according to Ken Kutaragi), an advanced replay editor, a between the wheels camera and a freaking car horn.

That car horn really did it for me. As a result I kicked my cat. PD owe me big time. :yuck:

GT4 never had any of these things and it managed to sell a few more than a couple of copies. So here comes GT5, with improvements across the board, more features, amazing graphics, a sublime physics engine, and people are still complaining and threatening to boycott the game. Its hilarious, because 10 to 1 you will still buy it, and enjoy it, and in effect eat your words. Which will make me laugh, then others laugh, then you cry. Then I'll laugh some more.

Don't listen to these noobs KY, just keep kicking ass and chewing bubblegum. Oh, sorry to see that KY - you're all out of gum

Heh, if you won't buy GT5 because there's a HUD in Cockpit mode and you don't know what ur talking about, then please go ahead. U really aren't important enough that we'd actually spend time to console you. Having you not buy GT5 might actually be a good thing since less stupid posts will be made here complaining about stuff because of your own lack of competence.
