GTPlanet, the way I will talk about games each week will be in the form of conversation. If I can get some scores together, I will try to update threads like this daily. Now, as you take a look at the title, you will note the week of action. This is a format I've chosen so that it doesn't seem like one team plays twice in the same week. You may see a story, may see a title associated with a story, or just a score. So consider this as sort of a service from me to you to talk college basketball. I'll try to update these threads daily with college hoops scores. So here goes.

MEN'S BASKETBALL (all divisions)

* IPFW at #12 Michigan State
Whereas Michigan rules the gridiron, their rivals Michigan State can rule the hardwood. Certainly the Spartans will give 100% and then some. Some project Michigan State as a Final Four contender. Not National Champions, but Final Four, which is certainly good news. Before they leave their competition in Neutral, they must play a few games. This Sunday, they met IPFW. No, I didn't press any random keys. The school is IPFW, or Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne. The Mastodons are one of 13 teams who are indeed Independents. Michigan State seems to play like they control their own destiny against these Mastodons. The Spartans got their feathers rustled, by not by the Mastodons. (83-74; MICHIGAN STATE)

* Nicholls State at #20 Maryland
Nicholls State is a university in the state of Louisiana. In fact, the Colonels call Thibodeaux, LA home. Thibodeaux, LA is about 30 or 40 miles west southwest of New Orleans, and maybe 40-50 miles south southeast of Baton Rouge. If you know your colleges and universities, it is also home to Southeastern Louisiana. Now, the Colonels must head to Comcast Arena to meet the Maryland boys. Maryland was National Champions not too long ago (2002 maybe?). The Terrapins would love nothing more but to continue making NCAA tourney after NCAA tourney. As this game winded down, this was about as ugly as ugly can get. (88-56; MARYLAND)

"I Taught I Taw a Wildcat!" Lehigh at Villanova
Villanova is part of the Atlantic 10 in football, but in one of the two best conferences in college basketball today- the Big East. The Wildcats are looking to claw their way up the leaderboard and give a cute little meow while they're at it. Now for a little game of Sylvester and Tweety. Sylvester would be the Wildcats, and their objective is to take apart their Tweety- Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks aren't a cupcake, but they aren't part of a dominant conference (Patriot League). Let's see who'll win- the kittens or the birds? Them kitties, of course! (84-47; VILLANOVA)

* Virginia at #9 Arizona
Let's visit the McKale Center in Tuscon, AZ. The University of Arizona is a factory of future NBA talent. You seen the Villanova Wildcats, now meet the Arizona Wildcats. Arizona State really underacheived against Arizona in football. But in basketball, UA beating ASU isn't really a big deal. Virginia looks to play spoiler against the Wilcats. The Virginia Cavaliers are a talented bunch even considering their infamous defeat to the Chaminade Silverswords back in the 1980s. Arizona embarassed the Cavs bigtime. (8?-5?; ARIZONA)

* Miami at Temple
Since Temple sucks at football, let's see how they do in basketball. Miami is a so-so ACC team in basketball. Hurricanes' basketball isn't as dominant and/or as popular as 'Canes football. Temple is one of the worst basketball teams, but are projected to be an NIT entrant by Athlon Sports' College Basketball Preview. (73-56; TEMPLE)

OTHER MEN'S SCORES AND WINNERS:
NORTH CAROLINA def. California-Saint Barara
(68-41; North Carolina State)
(100-51; LONG BEACH def. San Francisco State (Div. 2))
Toledo
NEBRASKA def. Southeast Missouri State
MONTANA STATE def. Wayland
Lafayette
BOISE STATE
ALABAMA-BIRMINGHAM def. South Carolina State

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (all divisions)
* Western Illinois at Ohio state
Illinois has a university or college in any direction just for you. There's Northern Illinois of the MAC, Eastern Illinois of the Ohio Valley Conference, Southern Illinois of the Missouri Valley Conference, and for this game- the Western Illinois Leathernecks of the Mid-Continent. With over 9 members strong in the M-C, they met a team that isn't as dominant in basketball as they are in football- Ohio State. The Lady Buckeyes are looking to have Western Illinois fall victim to the girl power of THE Ohio State University. Ohio State is projected to go pretty far in Women's Hoops, so let's see what happens here. (??-??; OHIO STATE)

* Connecticut at Clevland State
To say the Lady Huskies of UConn think one title is enough is like saying Dale Earnhardt should have stopped at winning his first (then) Winston Cup title. And as much as Earnhardt Sr. didn't stop at one title, neither do the Lady Huskies. The Big East basketball power met up against the Lady Vikings of Clevland State. Clevland State is a middle-of-the-road team in the Horizon Leauge. For you football types, only two Horizon Leauge teams have football programs- Youngstown State and Butler. (??-??; Connecticut)

"Everyone Loves an Irish Girl..." USoCal at Notre Dame
When you think USoCal, you think about Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, Lendale White, and not to mention Pete Caroll at the helm. What do you think of in USoCal basketball? Well, they do have a stud named Gabe Pruitt. Other than that, USC isn't a basketball program. The Lady Trojans, however, hope to change that. The Los Angeles, CA brand went up to South Bend, IN. Notre Dame's Lady Fighting Irish are looking to stay fresh in the Big East. Follow college football? You know that USC and Notre Dame are a unique rivalry on the gridiron. This one seemed like a rivalry. Heh. In the end, the Lady Fighting Irish got it done against USC unlike their football team. (??-??; NOTRE DAME)

* Marshall at Baylor
Did you know that ladies can make a great stampede? Well, the Marshall Thundering Herd hope to stampede their way from Huntington, WV to Waco, TX. It would be major if the Baylor Lady Bears fall to Marshall. Kim Mulkey-Robinson is the head coach as she leads the defending Women's National Champions to another successful season. (7?-4?; BAYLOR)

* #15 Stanford at #14 Texas Tech
Let's holler at some ladies who like red. First, Stanford. The Stanford football team played a tight game against Notre Dame in their final game in Palo Alto, CA. Now, the Lady Cardinal met some other red ladies, Texas Tech. The Texas Tech Red Lady Red Raiders are ranked one higher than the Cardinal. Does that mean they should blow away Stanford? This is basketball, so anything can happen at any given time. Texas Tech's Lady Red Raiders hasn't been National Champions since 1993, and the road to Boston would be wonderful. This was a great game especially heading into two minutes left. Texas Tech trailed by about 2, make it 4. The Red Raiders were fouled with 2.2 seconds left in the game. Free throws were missed as Texas Tech had the chance to tie at least. One baller for Texas Tech fouled out as Stanford pulled away down the stretch. Great game in this upset (in terms of ranks). (66-63; Stanford)

OTHER WINNERS:
Temple def. Hampton

Well, not a lot of scores for me to provide, but just enough to start this week. So after each report, you may reply with your own scores, comments, questions, and more. You up for this? Well, that does it for the Sunday report. I won't update this about EVERY DAY, but I will try to update my college hoops threads daily. Having said that, the next report is forthcoming.

MONDAY'S GAMES
Note: No women's games in this report

* Lamar at Memphis
Being a former Lamar student, I sort of have to feel for my former university. The Lamar Cardinals may not have a football team anymore, but this Southland Conference team met up against a talented Conference USA bunch. The Memphis Tigers are probably the toughest ticket in Conference USA this year. The prognosticators of Athlon Sports has the Memphis Tigers making the NCAA Tourney, and advancing as high as the Sweet 16. But in this match, the Cardinals... Can the redbirds draw blood to the Tigers? A snowball's chance in Hell. The Memphis Tigers had Cardinals for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and midnight snack in this game. (108-83 MEMPHIS)

"Alabama Slamma Jammas" Alabama State at Florida
Alabama State is one of two of the SWAC's best talent in Alabama. All 10 SWAC teams have a football program (87-60; FLORIDA)

"Back in Black" Providence at Fairfield
Black is a sexy color, isn't it? A girl's best friend may be diamonds, but a sexy black dress is always hot. Tuxedos are black and can be stylish for work, weddings, or whatever. But make black a uniform color in basketball and throw in some silver for nice balance. What do you get? Providence College. The Providence Friars are looking to rise again as a Big East talent. They play against the Fairfield Stags of the Metro-Atlantic Athetic Conference (MAAC). The game was close, but the black and silver pulled through. (81-78, Providence)

* Central Connecticut State at Binghampton
The Binghampton Wildcats couldn't exorcise the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils. (69-66 Central Connecticut State)

Furman at Campbell
The Furman Paladins extended their dominance in football to the hardwood with ease against the Campbell Camels. (79-78, OT; Furman)

Holy Cross at Vermont
The state of Vermont is only one of two states without a known college football program (the other is Alaska). The Vermont Catamounts aren't a so-so team, having made it to the NCAA tournament and knocking off Syracuse 60-57. They also got 25 wins and a third-straight conference (68-64; VERMONT)

IUPUI at Elon
IUPUI is home to the Jaguars. IUPUI represents the Mid-Continent and taking on the Elon Phoenix of the SOCON. The Phoenix didn't finish off the Jaguars in this one. (70-62, OT; Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis)

* Morgan State at Towson
The Morgan State Bears are now 0-6 after losing yet another game. This time, to the Towson Tigers. (71-66; TOWSON)

* Gardner-Webb at Minnesota
I guess you can call this an upset. The Gardner-Webb Running Bulldogs played a close game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Atlantic Sun brand defeated the Big Ten's Minnesota in a very close fight. (73-72; Gardner-Webb)

"It's You I See!" Illinois-Chicago at Georgia Southern
Georgia Southern represents the Southern Conference (SOCON). The Eagles' football team fell to the higher-ranked Texas State Bobcats. But the GS Eagles were ready to hit it off in The Windy City against the Flames of UIC. The Liberty Flames stink, so do the Illinois-Chicago Flames. (89-69; GEORGIA SOUTHERN)

* Maine at Robert Morris
I bet you don't know what city the University of Maine calls home. You don't really hear about Maine a lot. But if you follow college sports, you may know that America's northeasternmost state calls home is in the city of Orono, Maine. The Black Bears made their way into Moon Township, PA. In this cleverly-named city, you'll find the Colonials of Robert Morris. You'll also find bits and pieces of Maine left over as the Colonials cleaned house. (62-53; ROBERT MORRIS)

* Appalachian State at James Madison
The Appalachian State Mountaineers met up against the James Madison Dukes. Neither team wanted to lose, so this game went into double overtime. In 2OT, JMU pulled away, leaving the Mountaineers falling right a ravine they couldn't climb out of. (81-79, 2OT; JAMES MADISON)

* Cal Poly at Stanford
Stanford is a basketball school. This Pac-10 bunch are just 30 or so miles southeast of the beautiful city of San Francisco. Athlon Sports has Stanford ranked as beautifully as a Final Four selection. The Cardinal had to prove their worth against the Mustangs of California Polytechnical. Well, they are on a good start so far. Smooth sailing ahead for the Palo Alto outfit. (82-58; STANFORD)

* Auburn at Colorado State
The Auburn Tigers are amazing in football. Too bad their basketball team needs improvement after losing to the Colorado State Rams. (77-67; COLORADO STATE)

* California State-Fullerton at South Dakota State
The Titans of California State-Fullerton made sure the South Dakota State Jackrabbits stay firmly rooted to the ground. (82-70; California State-Fullerton)

* DePaul at Northern Illinois
The DePaul Blue Demons of Chicago, IL faced a roadblock in the form of the Northern Illinois Huskies. Hey, could have been worse- like maybe the Washington or Connecticut Huskies. (77-68; NORTHERN ILLINOIS)

* Indiana-South Bend at Valparaiso
The Valparaiso Crusaders make a better basketball team than their dismal football unit. The spread was a devastating 70 as they beat down Indiana SB... whomever they are. At week's end, you can be damn sure this may be an OWNAGE OF THE WEEK candidate. (111-41; VALPARAISO)

* Marshall at East Tennessee State
Conference USA's Marshall went up against a non conference opponent in East Tennessee State. The Buccaneers of ETSU beat Marshall really bad. The Thundering Herd got stampeded pretty damn bad by ETSU. (91-63; EAST TENNESSEE STATE)

* South Alabama at Loyola Marymount
Mobile, AL is home to two things. WWE star Hardcore Holly, and USA. Yes, we're living in the USA, but the USA in question here is the University of South Alabama. This Sun Belt team doesn't have a football program, but the USA Jaguars are looking to make some noise against tough opposition... like the team they faced in this matchup. Let's go to LMU... Loyola Marymount University in the movie capital of the world- Los Angeles, CA. The Loyola Marymount Lions may not have celebrities in their starting 5, but they know how to wow crowds. They don't need stunt doubles, fancy 3D effects, or editing to win games... they can handle themselves quite well. But could they down the Jaguars in this feline battle? You can call this a big win as South Alabama got it done in Overtime on the road. (81-80, OT; South Alabama)

* St. Peters at Seton Hall
South Orange, NJ. Are you from South Orange, NJ? If so, you know you'll find Seton Hall University, one of the 16 teams in the Big East. It's a shame to have this many teams, but everyone wants a piece of the pie. Seton Hall's Pirates have been around. Don't think they are the suspects of a realigned Big East. They met the MAAC's St. Peter's College. Two New Jersey schools went at it here, but the Peacocks have their hands full. The Pirates scooped up the win and sailed the high seas to victory. (66-57; SETON HALL)

"Lancers' Evolution" William and Mary at Longwood
The College of William and Mary met up with one of Division 1's newest teams, Longwood. The Tribe were looking to climb up the ranks in its conference by welcoming the Longwood boys into Division 1... the hard way. There's nothing Mitsubishi about Longwood, but the Lancers know this isn't going to be easy. The spread was 13 points as the Tribe cleaned up the Lancers. Both of these schools are Virginia schools as W&M was from Willamsburg, and Longwood is in Farmville. (88-75 William and Mary)

"The Highlander Life" Sovoir at Radford
Never heard of Sovoir? I haven't either. Don't feel bad. The Radford Highlanders wanted to help us remember Sovoir... in a beatdown, of course. (91-62 RADFORD)

* Virginia Tech at Ohio State
What happens when two football powers collide in basketball? You get to see if the teams have as good of a basketball team as their respective football teams. The Buckeyes are still hungry after the Thanksgiving holiday. They can really feast on some Hokie birds to go with the turkeys in their bellies. The Hokies of Virginia Tech got served by the Buckeyes. Talk about fine dining! (69-56 OHIO STATE)

* Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Tennessee Tech
The Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers are a great Horizon Leauge team, but they fell to a great Ohio Valley Conference team with the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles. (70-67; TENNESSEE TECH)

* Samford at Southern Miss
The Southern Miss Golden Eagles are a great gridiron bunch. They played against an Alabama-based school with Samford. The Samford Bulldogs of Birmingham, AL challenged the Golden Eagles AT Southern Miss. The Bulldogs delivered big. (52-33; Samford)

* Portland at Charlotte
Now let's look at the state of North Carolina, which is chock full of NCAA basketball talent. Among one of them is former Conference USA school, The University of North Carolina-Charlotte. Or let's simply call them Charlotte. The Charlotte 49ers sport green and gold. These Niners are going to cash in on a bigtime Gold Rush. They're getting a Purple Rush as Portland came to town. Don't confuse the two Portlands in Oregon. Portland State has a basketball and football team and are known as the Vikings, but these are the Portland Pilots of the West Coast Conference. (59-46, CHARLOTTE)

* Texas Weslayan at Texas-Arlington
Deep in my home state of Texas, the Texas-Arlington Mavericks shown little or no mercy against Texas Weslayan in a win. (78-64 TEXAS-ARLINGTON)

"Cruel and Usual Punishment" Kentucky Weslayan at Eastern Kentucky
The Governors of EKU laid down the law, beating down Kentucky Weslayan. Not even close. (86-44; EASTERN KENTUCKY)

* Southeast Louisiana at Mississippi State
The Mississippi State Bulldogs were looking for an easy win. They got denied that when they met Thibodeaux, LA's Southeast Louisiana Lions. (57-46; Southeast Louisiana)

* Erskine at Charleston Southern
Charleston Southern defeated Erskine in this matchup. The Buccaneers add a "W" to their win-loss column with this win. (??-??; CHARLESTON SOUTHERN)

* Sacred Heart at Yale
It doesn't take anyone with a 1200+ SAT grade to know that Yale can play basketball. The Bulldogs proved their point by downing the Pioneers of Sacred Heart University. (72-63; YALE)

* Florida Christian(?) at The Citadel
This is humoungous OWNAGE as The Citadel's Bulldogs murdered Florida Christian. (126-43; CITADEL)

* UCSB at Arizona State
Arizona State is not known very well for their basketball program. The Sun Devils, however, look to get a big win against the Gauchos of California-Saint Barbara. I'm not talking about the gaucho pants girls usually wear that have wide pant legs and usually worn with heeled boots. But the UCSB Gauchos. Then, it didn't matter. ASU was too much. (73-54; ARIZONA STATE)

* Fordham at Siena
The Fordham Rams from New York City, NY fell to the Siena Saints by about 10. (64-54; SIENA)

And that covers Monday action. I know the ACC/Big Ten Challenge is underway. Many more games in this deal will take place Tuesday on out. So, while I'm adding scores, feel free to comment or add your own scores.

TUESDAY GAMES

MEN'S DIVISION:
* #12 llinois at North Carolina ---Big Ten/ACC Challenge---
Surprising that North Carolina is unranked. Out the gates, this one was a fight. This one remained a fight... oh, that's right. This is a rematch of last year's National Championship game! The game was deadlocked at 35 at the Half. First half solved nothing. The second half was a hole shot for the Fighting Illini. (68-64; Illinois)

* Wisconsin at Wake Forest ---Big Ten/ACC Challenge---
The game had an exciting finish as Wake Forest held on to win by three. Wisconsin had the shot of connecting a long-range bomb to send the game into Overtime. The bomb didn't connect as the Demon Deacons sent the Badgers getting the hell out of Winston-Salem, NC. (91-88; WAKE FOREST)

* Clemson at Penn State ---Big Ten/ACC Challenge---
The ACC wins this battle as the Clemson Tigers took the fight to the Penn State Nittany Lions. Not even Joe Paterno could help THESE Nittany Lions. (9?-8?; Clemson)

* Miami at Michigan ---Big Ten/ACC Challenge---
Miami must go from the sun and sexy ladies of Miami all the way up to Ann Arbor, MI. Both schools have established football programs, both teams with impressive talent on the gridiron. On the hardwood, this is also a great match, just not Duke/North Carolina. Michigan led 31-26 at the half. (74-53; MICHIGAN)

* Purdue at Florida State ---Big Ten/ACC Challenge---
The Big Ten/ACC Challenge continues on as Purdue met Florida State. I didn't know Florida State had a great basketball program, much like Seminoles Football. The Boilermakers had a few train lines head right into Tallahassee, FL. Whatever chance the Boilermakers had of freight training the 'Noles was quickly and efficiently derailed. A Seminole BLOWOUT. (97-57; FLORIDA STATE)

"I'm Still Jenny From the Broncs" Texas Pan-American at Texas
Ah, my home state of Texas. We have big talent here. Some worthy of NCAA consideration, but some looking for consolation in the NIT. Texas would hate to not be in the NCAA tourney, so what are they going to do about it? Hook them horns! The Longhorns welcomed a Division 1 Independent, the University of Texas-Pan American. Most Independents aren't exactly teams worthy of major upsets. The UTPA Broncs are from Edinburgh, TX, which is about 70-80 miles west northwest of Texas' southernmost city of Brownsville. Edinburgh is about 30 miles north of the Rio Grande and the Mexico border. A spread of 9 was the difference as it was 32-23 at the half. (82-54; TEXAS)

* Houston at LSU
Houston and Baton Rouge. Baton Rouge was in Houston for the Grambling State/Southern game at Reliant Stadium. Now, Houston's brand is coming to Baton Rouge. Players, meet the Houston Cougars. Tom Penders is the head man for the UH Cougars in an effort to bring them back to the Final Four. Houston has been to the Final Four five times, but never a championship. This is even with "Phi Slamma Jamma" back in the 1980s when Houston was part of the now-defunct Southwestern Conference. Now the Baton Rouge team. The LSU Tigers had a famous alum. You may know him as... Shaquille O' Neal. They may not have The Diesel, but they do have big talent. So much talent, that Louisiana State blew out the Coogs by double the margin. It was 42-21 at the Half in favor of the LSU Tigers. Give Houston the benefit of the doubt. They fought back from a huge deficit to upset the #25 Tigers. BIG win for the Houston Cougars! (84-83; Houston)

Army at Connecticut
Army is a Division 1-A Independent in football, but a participant of the Patriot Leauge in most other NCAA sports. West Point, NY is actually a scenic place. If you want to train to be a soldier, the United States Army Academy has what you need to know to serve your nation. Surely, the Black Knights are ready to take the fight to a school in one of New York's next door neighbors- Connecticut. The UConn Huskies are ready for the Black Knights as Storrs, CT is home to this battle. The Huskies enjoyed a comfortable lead by game's end to win. (68-54; CONNECTICUT)

* High Point at Kentucky
With college basketball, is there any place grander or more popular than Rupp Arena? Well, the Carrier Dome and Cameron Indoor Stadium may have something to say about that. The blue of Kentucky is something to fear in college basketball. While the Wildcats passionately disappointed in football, the wild kittens want to claw right into anything that isn't wearing Kentucky blue and white. Meet High Point. High Point, NC can be found southeast of Winston-Salem, NC. The Panthers of the Big South Conference want to whack the Wildcats with all they got. All Panthers got was a blowout of 20 all over them. (75-55; KENTUCKY)

* Albany at UCLA
East meets west. The capital of New York visits Movie City America. This ain't no movie, so can the paparazzi, the red carpet, magazines like Star and stuff, and just lace 'em up to the hardwood. The Great Danes took my advice and did just that meeting multi-time National Champions UCLA. While the UCLA football team is gearing up to meet Southern Cal, the Bruins are gearing up to make a postseason appearance. (73-65; CALIFORNIA-LOS ANGELES)

* Louisiana Tech at Alabama
Roll tide roll! Bring out Big Al! Or can elephants play b-ball? Whatever the case, the Crimson Tide are a ranked squad looking to go far not only in the SEC, but into the field of 65 in March. To get there, they need to worry about Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs carry the pride of Ruston, LA right into Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide washed away the Bulldogs like last week's garbage. Okay, bad thought. Take out the garbage EARLY so that the place don't think up like crazy. (73-63; ALABAMA)

* Bethune Cookman at Central Florida
The Atlantic Sun is the home team as Central Florida looked to tame Bethune-Cookman's Wildcats. The UCF Golden Knights met an in-state opponent, hoping to beat them, and did just that. (61-48; CENTRAL FLORIDA)

"All For One, and One For All!" Coppin State at Xavier
Welcome to Cincinatti, Ohio. Welcome to the only Division 1 school which starts with the letter "X." Meet Cincinatti's biggest rival, Xavier. The big X is looking to, uh... X out their opponents. You can surely bet the Xavier Musketeers will rule the hardwood. These Musketeers needed some air support to down a pack of Eagles flying into the Cintas Center. Those Eagles would be the Coppin State Eagles. They are one of only two MEAC teams without a football program. (81-56; XAVIER)

"Laugh-a-yetting All the Way to the Bank" Cornell at Lafayette
The Lafayette Leopards of the Patriot Leauge defeated their opponents from Ithaca, NY, Cornell University. (57-43; LAFAYETTE)

* Dayton at Cincinatti
Poor Cincinatti. Bob Huggins was the head coach for Cincinatti, but thanks to the University of Cincinatti president Nancy Zimpher, the Bearcats need some other form of sideline inspiration. Huggins will remain there for about two more years, hoping to make a few more Final Fours before giving it all up. They met an in-state opponent, the Dayton Flyers of the Atlantic 10. No question that sparks will fly higher than the Flyers say they can fly. (75-66; Dayton)

* Colorado at Pennsylvania
The Colorado Buffaloes made oatmeal out of the Pennsylvania Quakers. Breakfast, anyone? (78-60 Colorado)

"Remember the Titans" Detroit at Eastern Michigan
UDM time, GTPlanet. This is a battle of Michigan. Eastern Michigan is home to the EMU Eagles. They are a MAC unit trying to take the honor of Michigan in this match. Now, let's look at a university you may not know about unless you're in metropolitan Detroit. I'll label the university as Detroit, but the official name is The University of Detroit Mercy. And have mercy for this game. Detroit is a Horizon Leauge team whose primary color is blue. They are known as the Detroit Titans. If you can dominate the boards and full court the opposition with the best of them, you deserve to be called a Titan. (64-60; Detroit)

* Eastern Illinois at Western Illinois
The Western Illinois Leathernecks whipped the Eastern Illinois Panthers real good... with high quality leather, that is. 👍 (78-66; WESTERN ILLINOIS)

* Eastern at LeHigh
Eastern College didn't stand a chance against the Lehigh Mountain Hawks. (??-??; LEHIGH)

* Grambling State at Illinois State
The Illinois State Redbirds (yes, that's what they are called) took down the Grambling State Tigers of the SWAC. Covered the black and gold with red. (62-50; ILLINOIS STATE)

"The Kings of Queens" Hofstra at St. John's
It's time to welcome St. John's University, GTPlanet. Where is St. John's? Officially, it is in Jamaica, NY. Jamaica, NY is in the vincinity of New York City, so it's obvious they are part of the city so nice, they named it twice. Their football program was discontinued around 2002 or 2003, but the school was better known for their basketball anyways. Bring your umbrellas because the Red Storm are hovering over their opponents each day or night they have a game going on. This team which resides in the NYC burrow of Queens welcomed the Hofstra Pride from Hempstead, NY. In the end though, the Jamaica, NY crew lost this game. (64-51; Hofstra)

* UMKC at Missouri
Mid-Continent team UMKC is one of the many teams which consist of probably Division 1's lowest-level talent. What does UMKC stand for? Well, it stands for the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The Kangaroos are what they want to be known as, and if you're playing basketball, you have to love that nickname because you need hops when on the hardwood. The Tigers of Missouri are slowly fading having lost to Houston last year, and some other team this year. Could they get it together against these marsupials? You bet'cha. (??-??; MISSOURI)

* Northern Iowa at Iowa State
This could be an upset, GTPlanet. The pride of Iowa is on the line, but it isn't for the Cy-Hawk Trophy like Iowa State did earlier this year in football. The ISU Cyclones have a problem with lesser teams trying to take them down. Northern Iowa is projected to being a Sweet Sixteen team, but the Panthers need to prove to the prognosticators that NIU can be a Sweet 16 contender... maybe higher. They didn't do that tonight, however. Cyclones blown away the Panthers. (68-61; IOWA STATE)

"The Year of the Hawk" St. Joseph's at Drexel
The Drexel Dragons didn't look too regal against Philadelphia's Saint Joseph's University. The St. Joseph's Hawks of the Atlantic 10 held their composure and shown nothing less than the best against the Dragons. (69-59; Saint Joseph's)

"Black and Proud" Long Island at SMU
GTPlanet, let's look to the Northeastern Conference for a moment. In this game, the Fighting Blackbirds of Long Island University met the Sotuhern Methodist Mustangs. Whereas they stink in football, the Mustangs gave Long Island the short end of the stick. (-; SOUTHERN METHODIST)

"Net Gain" Saint Francis College at Pittsburgh
Here is a note. There are two St. Francis schools in Division 1 basketball. St. Francis is in Pennsylvania and normally shown up in my college football reports. This is St. Francis College in the state of New York. The St. Francis Seawolves are not the kinds of animals you want to mess with. Unless you're a Panther. Having said this, the Pittsburgh Panthers had something to prove. So I'll let these boys prove their point. And they did, all the way to the bank, all the way to the house, all the way to the rim. Nothing but net. (79-58 PITTSBURGH)

* WKU at UAB
Western Kentucky's Hilltoppers didn't have a big hill to climb as they quickly took care of the Alabama-Birmingham Blazers. Make a mountain out of a molehill? Heh. UAB couldn't climb the hills Western Kentucky were making. (96-78; Western Kentucky)

* American at Loyola College
If you don't know anything about American University, you know one thing at least. It is American. It's so American, it's called American University. It's America's university of NCAA Division 1 basketball. The American Eagles want to soar high, higher, and highest against any and all offenders. Their opponents were all buses. Wait... a 5 on 5 battle between Eagles and buses? The arena was big enough because their opponents are the Greyhounds of Loyola College. These puppies from Baltimore crashed right into Washington D.C.'s American University, and who won? America! Actually, Loyola College did. I was just trying to be cool. American falls to 0-4 on the season. Not good for this Patriot Leauge bunch. (68-60; LOYOLA COLLEGE)

* North Dakota State at Wisconsin-Green Bay
While the Green Bay Packers are having more woes than the sale of Ashlee Simpson's albums, let's talk about a Green Bay school that doesn't have a football team. Green Bay doesn't really have any known professional talent except for the NFL program that calls Lambeau Field home. The Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix are second only to their other Wisconsin program, the Wisconsin-Milwaukee. This Horizon League school want to show that while they may not have a football program, they can still prove to be the Brett Favres of basketball. They wanted to prove that to those North Dakota State Lumberjacks. Job well done. (60-55; WISCONSIN-GREEN BAY)

* Florida Christian College at College of Charleston
Florida Christian College fell at the hands of the Cougars. The Cougars of the College of Charleston. Do the Charleston, player! (??-??; COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON)

* Quinnipiac at FDU
Hamden, CT's Quinnipiac Bobcats fell to the Knights of FDU. The boys from Florham, NJ took care of business. (76-70; FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON)

* Florida A&M at Georgia
Can you believe that with a win here, the Georgia Bulldogs will complete their first five games with a 4-1 start? Last year, they finished 8-20, going to nobody's tourney. Losers don't make the postseason, unless you were Oakland University last season who finished 13-19. Florida A&M crossed the Florida-Georgia border to play hoops with the dismal Georgia Bulldogs (in basketball at least). They didn't look so dismal at night's end, though. Bulldogs took a bite out of the Rattlers. (95-74; GEORGIA)

* South Florida at Florida International
Double Overtime, Baby! It's awesome, baby! Golden Panthers pulled out the W against Big East newcomers South Florida. Welcome to the party, players! (69-64, 2OT; FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL)

* Newberry at Winthrop
The winning Winthrop Eagles win this game against Newberry. And oh, did I mention that they won? (79-77; WINTHROP)

"Ladies and Gents..." Northwestern State at Centenary
The Northwestern State Demons of the Southland Conference hit it off against the Gents of Centenary College. These two Louisiana schools finished in a nail-biter as the spread was two between the Southland program at the Mid-Continent's program. Shrevport, LA is the home site for this game. The Gents got iced in this one by 2. (76-74; Northwestern State)

* Utah Valley State at Montana
Move over Michigan, you're not the only Wolverines in town anymore! That's right. While the Michigan Wolverines devoured Miami, the Utah Valley State Wolverines took on the Montana Grizzlies. All that happened was that Montana feasted on the poor Wolverines from Utah Valley State. Big Sky, bigger blowout. (75-59; MONTANA)

* Houston Baptist at Stephen F. Austin
I learned that Houston Baptist University is home to the HBU Huskies. Didn't matter because the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks cleaned house in Nacodoches, TX. (91-66; STEPHEN F. AUSTIN)

* Chattanooga at Middle Tennessee State
The Volunteer State is up now. The Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee State defeat the Chattanooga Mocs by a dime. (81-71; MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE)

* Dartmouth at Colgate
Hanover, New Hampshire is where you'll find Dartmouth College of the Ivy Leauge. It's also a place where you'll see dejected and exhausted Big Green basketballers. The Colgate Raiders won this one in Double Overtime. (65-64, OT; COLGATE)

* Jarvis Christian at Southern
While losing to rivals Grambling State in football, the Southern Jaguars took the fight to Jarvis Christian. (71-58; SOUTHERN)

* Rhode Island at Boston University
GTPlanet, new to college hoops? There are two Bostons, and you hear of Boston College for a reason. Boston College is a school in Chestnut Hill, MA. There used to be a Boston University in football, but now, the Terriers are hardwood heroes. So because of two Bostons, you see Boston College and Boston University for a reason. The Boston University Terriers met the Rhode Island Rams. Boston U couldn't dodge these Rams as they get a big road victory. It was also a defensive strangehold. (48-38; Rhode Island)

* Texas College at Sam Houston State
Texas College isn't exactly known very well, but you MAY have heard of Sam Houston State. The name Sam Houston is influential in Texas history, as he was the founder of Houston, TX. He was the founder of a city that was once the captial of Texas. But this isn't about Houston, it's about Sam Houston University in Huntsville, TX. The Bearkats won this game in a blowout. Thanks for coming, Texas College! (85-49; SAM HOUSTON STATE)

* California State-Stainislaus at California-Irvine
No joking, but the UC Irvine Anteaters tried to take a bite out of the (insert nickname here)s of California State-Stainislaus. Try pronouncing the Away Team's school while you look at who won the game. (??-??; California State-Stainislaus)

WOMEN'S DIVISION
* Temple at Mideastern
(60-53; Temple)

* North Carolina-Asheville at North Carolina
Some of you may have seen commercials of Asheville, NC. The University of North Carolina-Asheville is home to the Bulldogs. This Big South(?) unit took on the state's (arguably) greatest team, North Carolina. The Tar Heels are surely the pride of the state of North Carolina, and these ladies are here to make sure it REMAINS the crown jewel of college basketball in North Carolina. By the end of this game, beautiful Asheville will see the a bus going home with badly-beaten Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Tar Heels are getting it done like their male counterparts. (83-43; NORTH CAROLINA)

"Scarlet Roses" Bethune-Cookman at Rutgers
We stay on the East Coast and take a look at Bethune-Cookman and Rutgers. Are there a such thing as female knights? Well, the Lady Scarlet Knights aren't exactly damsels in distress. They dole out distress among their competition. The pride of New Jersey took on a starting five from Florida. Bethune-Cookman College is home to the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats. The Lady Wildcats of this HBCU (Historically-Black Colleges and Universities) lost in a blowout. Bad kittens! (73-48; RUTGERS)

"Dames of Notre Dame" Iona at Notre Dame
The Lady Gaels of Iona College met some Fighting Irish in South Bend, IN. Once this 40-minute cat fight was done, Notre Dame won big. (74-55; NOTRE DAME)

"Boiled Blood" Arkansas State at Purdue
The Lady Boilermakers gave Arkansas State a clinic in playing basketball. The girls from West Lafayette, IN took down the Lady Indians of Arkansas State. Now keep in mind. Hostile and abusive Native American Indian nicknames will be banned, so I'll likely not use any. (95-58; PURDUE)

As a result of me sleeping during early Thursday morning (Central Standard Time), I will quickly go through the winners. For any scores missing from the Men's and Women's sides, I encourage you to look at these two websites courtesy of Yahoo:

WEDNESDAY GAMES

MEN'S BASKETBALL

* Northwestern at Virginia
(-; VIRGINIA)

* Georgia Tech at Michigan State
The Michigan State Spartans had spartan manners beating the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Both teams may be Final Four favorites way down the road, but let's see if I'm right. (88-86; MICHIGAN STATE)

* Minnesota at Maryland
(88-63; MARYLAND)

* Jackson State at Memphis
Memphis is arguably the best college basketball team in Conference USA. Now that Louisville went to the Big East, the only real talent left is Memphis. The Tigers didn't want to disappoint. They welcomed a pack of wannabe Tigers from Jackson State. Piece of cake for the Tigers. (90-77; MEMPHIS)

* New Hampshire at Harvard
New Hampshire is still #1 in 1-AA football at this point. The Wildcats aren't #1 in basketball, sadly. Getting high SAT's and great grades on term papers can help you in a basketball game. Just ask the academic b-ballers for the Harvard Crimson. (-; )

* Texas A&M Corpus Christi at Texas-San Antonio
The Islanders of Corpus Christi defeated their Roadrunner counterparts from San Antonio. (77-59; Texas A&M Corpus Christi)

* #21 North Carolina State at #15 Iowa
Iowa Hawkeyes rule the court in this game. As Iowa's slightly disappointing football season (compared to last year's noise making) happened, the Hawkeyes were looking to take down the NC State Wolfpack. In a low-scoring game, Iowa is good in football AND basketball, and this game proves it. (45-42; IOWA)

* Portland State at Gonzaga
The Gonzaga Bulldogs from Spokane, WA defeated a pack of ruthless Vikings from Portland State. (89-80; GONZAGA)

* California State-Fullerton at Kansas State
(84-59; KANSAS STATE)

* Marquette at Nebraska
Marquette University is a Catholic university cradled in Bucks country- Milwaukee, WI. Sadly for the Golden Eagles, they crashed and burned to the Cornhuskers(84-7?; NEBRASKA)

* George Mason at Miami
Hurricanes may stick to football, but Miami did try their best against the George Mason Colonials. (-; George Mason)

* Liberty at Longwood
The Longwood Lancers extinguished whatever fire the Liberty Flames had left. (88-75; LONGWOOD)

* Mount St. Mary at La Salle
(-; LA SALLE)

89-80 GONZAGA

* Manhattan at Syracuse
This is a New York battle brewing here. One is part of New York City, the other is part of upstate New York. You may know about Manhattan, but do you know who the Manhattan boys are called? Well, meet the Manhattan Jaspers. The Syracuse Orange weren't too impressed, so they fought it out in Overtime and the home side won in what would have been a major upset. (87-82, OT, SYRACUSE)

* TCU at Texas Tech
Texas Christian University didn't have to travel too far in Texas to go to Lubbock. This is a battle of two north Texas schools. The TCU Horned Frogs had an amazing football season in their Mountain West debut. Had they not lost to SMU of all teams, they would have been a BCS buster. No need for BCS here, this is college hoops, where championships are earned in tournaments and playoffs. Texas Tech wants to return to the Big Dance. The Red Raiders look ready to cover the indigo and black in red. The horned amphibians got blown out and sent back to Fort Worth. (81-54, TEXAS TECH)

* Pacific at San Francisco
The closest you will come to a San Francisco-based football team are the boys of Stanford. But if it's basketball, you actually have two choices. The first choice is a Division 2 school, San Francisco State. Or in this case, San Francisco. Back in the 1950s (maybe 1953 or 1956), the San Francisco Dons made a lot of noise to all of America. Of course back then, shorts were real short. But not like a hot babe at the beach or in the mall wearing Billabong shorts. Fast forward to 2005, and they are a so-so team. Coming into beautiful San Francisco is a program with a campus in San Francisco, but based in Stockton, CA. And that would be the University of the Pacific. And let me tell you. If not Pepperdine University, the University of the Pacific is one of Calfornia's most beautiful campuses. Looking to be equally beautiful is the Pacific Tigers. And they did, even if it took Overtime. (75-71, OT; Pacific)

Creighton at DePaul
The Blue Jays of Creighton fell to the DePaul Blue Demons. (??-??; DEPAUL)

Fresno State at Buffalo
(-; BUFFALO)

Kent State at Youngstown State
(??-??; Kent State)

* Saint Francis at George Washington
The Colonials of Washington D.C.'s George Washington took on the Red Flash of St. Francis. Apparentely, the game was over... in a flash. Nice win for the university named after America's first President of the United States. (??-??; GEORGE WASHINGTON)

* Oregon at Vanderbilt
The Oregon Ducks aren't playing in The Pit, but they play in Nashville for this b-ball match. In the end, a last-minute long-range J gave the Vanderbilt Commodores the win against their opponents from the American Northwest. (76-75; VANDERBILT)

* Providence at Wichita State
We got a shocker, players! The Wichita State Shockers pulled a big one by knocking off the Friars of Providence College. (82-74; WICHITA STATE)

"" San Diego State at San Diego
Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? Not in San Diego. This game is all about California's biggest city that's closest to the Mexican border, San Diego. Or as Tokyopop/G4 TV show "Street Fury" calls the city, "Day-Go." The pride of San Diego is on the line between San Diego and San Diego State. Both teams are in football with SDSU playing in the major leauges of college football. The San Diego State Aztecs probably didn't have to go very far to meet crosstown rivals, San Diego. Or is this a rivalry? Close enough, since both schools are in the same city. San Diego doesn't have Aztecs, but there are plenty of Toreos there. What is a Torero? It's a kind of bullfighter. California has two types of bullfighter masctos- San Diego and California State-Northridge's Matadors. This isn't about Northridge. It's about San Diego, players. Speaking of players, San Diego's boys got it done tonight. (90-80; SAN DIEGO)

Davidson at Charlotte
You want North Carolina-Charlotte? You got them. The Charlotte 49ers defeated the Davidson Wildcats. The game MIGHT have been into Overtime, so the score result will be classified. (??-??, OT(?); CHARLOTTE)

* West Virginia at St. Bonaventure
The West Virginia Mountaineers won the Big East title in football, and they could be on their way to a great basketball season by downing the St. Bonaventure Bonnies. (66-61 West Virginia)

* UNLV at Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State performed absolutely horrible in football, but their basketball team is still one of the tighest-knit units in all of Division 1 basketball. The Cowboys of Stillwater, OK sent the Rebels of UNLV all the way back to Las Vegas. (80-68; OKLAHOMA STATE)

* Bradley at Loyola UC
Three Loyolas in Division 1 basketball, and this one is in Illinois. The Loyola Ramblers took down the Bradley Braves. (??-??; LOYOLA)

* Loyola Marymount at Long Beach State
Long Beach should be familiar if you follow the American racing set. Long Beach is home to the annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. When the green flag was waved, the Long Beach State 49ers wanted to take down their opponents out of Los Angeles. It was SoCal basketball at its best as the Loyola Marymount Lions looked to bomb on Long Beach State. Didn't happen. LB got the W-I-N. You heard me? (95-83; LONG BEACH STATE)

THURSDAY'S GAMES

MEN'S DIVISION

* Nevada at Kansas
GTPlanet, it's time to welcome the Coach K Arena of the Big XII- James Naismith Court at Allen Fieldhouse. You normally see me rag on Kansas football not being good. Well, here is where I'll show love to Kansas. Jayhawk fans stood tall did their popular chant as they seen someone who wasn't Kansas. The University of Nevada can be found in the world's biggest little city of Reno, NV. These two have something in common. In football, both Nevada and Kansas upset Fresno State and Iowa State respectively. Can Nevada pull a big one against a big team? Never count out the Wolfpack. It's said the WAC will be strong this year, so let's see if it stays this way all season. They trailed at the Half, made a game out of it, had a chance to tie the game or win it, but Nevada upsets the Jayhawks. With this loss, Kansas is now 2-3 for the first time since circa the 1970s. (72-70; Nevada)

* McNeese State at Auburn
Auburn, AL is home to one of the SEC's best football teams and more importantly, one of the most talented units in all of college football today. Now look into basketball and what do you see? If you answered "a bunch of guys that can't be at least a sleeper," then you're right. The Auburn Tigers clearly aren't the flagship university of SEC basketball (Kentucky, anyone?), but they meet a team who finished 13-15 last year. McNeese State is in Louisiana. The Louisiana Cowboys are ready to ride tall on their horses to Auburn, AL and show the Tigers who's boss. Did they, though? (91-76; AUBURN)

* Mideastern at Marshall
The Thundering Herd thundered their way to victory over Mideastern. (66-55; MARSHALL)

* Pepperdine at Dayton
Malibu. Malibu is a variation of a Barbie Doll, an ugly car from Chevrolet, and the home of Pepperdine University. I visited Pepperdine's home page not too long ago. If you look at the pictures for this Catholic school, I swear. Judging from the pictures, the university is beautiful. The Pepperdine Waves had their problems on the road to Ohio. California to Ohio is a long drive, maybe a shorter flight. Regardless, Dayton was the city they need to go to for this game. They met Dayton, home of the Dayton Flyers. The Flyers flown so high over Pepperdine that it was raining buckets on Pepperdine. (63-45; DAYTON)

"Have Mercer On Me!" Savannah State at Mercer
Savannah State is on the right trail compared to last year. Savannah State was one of the first teams in quite a while to finish winless. The Tigers of Savannah State already bombed football, so they aren't winless in basketball as of right now. The Tigers are ready to square off in their own state against Mercer. You can find Mercer in two places. The first is Macon, GA. The other place you can find them is in the Atlantic Sun conference. The Mercer Bears are projected as being a Middle-of-the-Road Atlantic Sun team. They can change all that with a win here. They did just that as the Bears came through again. (88-63; MERCER)

* SMU at Texas State
Texas State is ready and raring to go at home. Home is where the hoop is, so in this case, it's San Marcos, TX. Texas State University is part of the Southland Conference and home to a cuddly bunch of Bobcats. The Bobcats are winless so far, and they got a little scared when a bunch of Ford Mustangs came into San Marcos from Dallas. No, not the cars, but the SMU Mustangs. As it turns out, Texas State makes a great football team, but their basketball effort was less than stellar against the Dallas brand. (78-67; Southern Methodist)

* St. Peter's at Lafayette
GTPlanet, the Patriot League is hosting the MAAC (Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference). St. Peter's College in New Jersey took the trip to Pennsylvania. That's right. Lafayette of Pennsylvania, not Louisiana (as I initially thought). The Peacocks didn't fare well in football, but Lafayette did pretty well, sharing the Patriot League title on the gridiron. Question is, can Lafayette get her done to the Patriot League title? The Leopards are quite confident in their abilities and want to make an impact in Patriot Leauge basketball. Lafayette's biggest competition in-conference would be Bucknell. Even their basketball team stinks, but St. Peter's pulled it out. The Peacocks go to 1-3 on the season as Lafayette saw some unhappy Leopards in Easton, PA. (79-76; St. Peters)

"Thursday Night Lights?" Texas Permian at Texas-Arlington
This isn't football, and this isn't 1988. Whomever Texas Permian is, they lost to a bunch of Mavericks. No, not Dallas (NBA), but Texas-Arlington's Mavericks. (79-65; TEXAS-ARLINGTON)

* Holy Cross at Siena
The Siena Saints took their game to a higher power and a higher calling by defeating the Crusaders of Holy Cross. Siena represents the MAAC in this victory of the Patriot Leauge's Holy Cross. (68-63; SIENA)

* Austin Peay at Tennessee Tech
The Golden Eagles were nothing short of 24 karats as they soared to victory over the Austin Peay Governors. (78-61; TENNESSEE TECH)

* Florida Tech at Florida International
Florida International is known the world over. Okay, maybe not. You know that when a school carries "International" in its name, you know that you can expect to see the world in every classroom of FIU. Florida International calls beautiful Miami, FL home. On top of that, the Golden Panthers are ready to make some noise in the Sun Belt East Division. Looking to stop them is Florida Tech from the Sunshine State Conference. Never heard of Florida Tech or the Sunshine Conference? That's because it is a Division 2 unit and conference. (72-54; FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL)

* Delaware at UMBC
First off, let me word out an acronym for you. UMBC stands for The University of Maryland-Baltimore County. Now on to the game. Delaware may have a funny choice for a nickname, but that's only because nobody else is going for it. GTP, meet Delaware. Not just Delaware, but the Delaware Fighting Blue Hens. In football, their uniforms look too much like Michigan, only with a brighter blue. Hey, I dropped this. Can you retrive it for me? It's no problem if you are UMBC, because you are (85-84; MARYLAND-BALTIMORE COUNTY)

* Seton Hall at Richmond
The Big East is the largest conference in Division 1 basketball. With over 16 teams playing, they must have a lot of talent. Was that talent enough to win a ball game? The Seton Hall Pirates didn't deliver against Richmond of the Atlantic 10. Here's a secret. In this game at least, Pirates are afraid of Spiders. (60-47; RICHMOND)

* Stetson at Campbell
The Campbell Camels improve to 1-3 after defeating the Stetson Hatters from Florida. (84-70; CAMPBELL)

"Everything at Belmont Stake" Belmont at East Tennessee State
It was a close one for this game. It took Overtime to declare a winner, and at night's end, Belmont's Bruins got it done against the East Tennessee State Buccaneers. (88-85, OT; Belmont)

* Tennessee-Temple at Jacksonville State
Jacksonville State is in Alabama. The Jacksonville State Gamecocks of the Ohio Valley Conference defeated Tennessee-Temple. (97-70; JACKSONVILLE STATE)

* Lipscomb at Kennessaw State
Kennesaw State is one of the newcomers to Division 1 basketball, coming from the Division 2 ranks. The Kennessaw State Owls are doing quite well so far. Keep up the good work. (65-64; KENNESSAW STATE)

* Spring Hill at Southeast Louisiana
Spring? On the heels of Winter? Doesn't sound right. Since I don't know most teams under Division 1 (yet) or who is a member of the NAIA, let's leave as little info as possible on Spring Hill. Thibodeaux, Louisiana is more familiar to me as Southeast Louisiana can be found there. The Lions want to spring Spring Hill right back to where they came from. And they did just that. (79-65; SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA)

* Northern Arizona at Denver
GTPlanet, this is my first chance at welcoming Denver to my reports. But first, let me talk about thier opponents. Northern Arizona is from Flagstaff, AZ. They are pretty bad in football, but finished 11-17 in basketball and are expected to be on the rise in the Big Sky. But if you're one of the Lumberjacks, don't let prognosticators direct your team, let your basketball skill lead the way. They made their way into Denver, CO. Now, let's meet Denver. Denver are the boys from the Mile High City. There is no known college football power in Denver, but Denver is so well put together. The lowest they may go is the NIT, but a trip to the NCAA would be a huge compiment for the Pioneers. They are well on their way by laying the lumber against the Lumberjacks. (78-63; DENVER)

* Alcorn State at Sam Houston State
Bearkats bruised the Braves of Alcorn State. Sam Houston State picks up another win on the season. (51-50; SAM HOUSTON STATE)

* Binghamton at Hofstra
New York pride was on the line. If you ESPN fans watch the show "Pardon the Interruption," you may hear of Binghamton. Why so? It is said because co-host Tony Kornheiser is an alum of Binghamton. The Binghamton Wildcats of Binghamton, NY met Hempstead, NY's Hofstra. The Hofstra Pride knows pride so well that they called it their nickname. Much like how New York City is "the city so nice they named it twice," Hofstra has "the pride so nice, they named it..." well, that doesn't rhyme, but you get the idea. Oh, and get this idea- The Wildcats got tamed by the Pride. Almost a no-contest in terms of New York pride, eh? (69-55; HOFSTRA)

* Charleston Southern at The Citadel
The Charleston Southern Buccaneers spayed and neutered The Citadel's Bulldogs. (74-5?; Charleston Southern)

* Iona at Fordham
Iona College stepped into New York City to take down the Fordham Rams and succeded. (71-70; Iona)

* Methodist at Appalachian State
Methodist ran out of methods for trying to beat Appalachia State's Mountaineers. (87-69; APPALACHIAN STATE)

* Arkansas State at Tennessee-Martin
The Skyhawks of Tennessee-Martin took the ball straight to the rack and used their wings to get to the basket easier. Afterwards, Arkansas State's Indians took the long ride home. (78-70; TENNESSEE-MARTIN)

* Hope International at California State-Northridge
Lot of basketball teams in California, not to mention many California State Universities. This California State is California State-Northridge. The California State-Northridge Matadors welcomed Hope International. (117-55; CALIFORNIA STATE-NORTHRIDGE)

* Asbury at Chattanooga
"Hey John, we need to chat." About what? "Chatt." Oh. Go on. "Yeah, but the Chattanooga Mocs were taking on Asbury right? So, they just blown them out like it was nothing." Wow! Big blowout there! I'll be sure to type in the score and the winner. Send my congrats to Chattanooga for me, alright? "You got it!" Cool. (97-60; CHATTANOOGA)

* Boise State at Idaho State
The Idaho State Bengals from Pocatello, ID defeated their Bronco counterparts of Boise State. (88-79; IDAHO STATE)

* Montana State at Northern Colorado
The Northern Colorado Bears fell hard to the Montana State Fighting Bobcats. (83-69; Montana State)

WOMEN'S DIVISION

"Freshly Crushed" Texas at Tennessee
If you like the color orange, do I have a game for you! Syracuse may not be one of the two opponents in this game, but these are two great schools with great football talent. The Tennessee Lady Volunteers are led by Hall of Famer Pat Summit. There are a great number of banners with "Women's National Champion" on them. Their most recent trip to the Promised Land was 1998. They would have made the National Title game against Baylor had Michigan State not ruin the Lady Vols' hopes. Here's a question. If Vince Young had a sister who could play basketball, could she be as dominant in basketball as Vince Young is in football? Regardless, the Texas Lady Longhorns are going to have their hands full with the Vols. There's an X-Factor for Tennessee... well, maybe more like trump card. Anyhow, they have a girl that can dunk as well as the guys- Candace Parker. Tennessee's Orange crushed the burnt orange of Texas. I hate to say this to Texas' Lady Longhorns but... OWN3D! (102-61; TENNESSEE)

"Cute Utes" Oregon State at Utah
The Utah Lady Utes did a c-Ute job against the Oregon State Lady Beavers. (62-53; UTAH)

* Hartford at Connecticut
The Connecticut Lady Huskies shown their Girl Power over the Hawks of Hartford. That girl power paid off very well. (72-47; CONNECTICUT)

* Purdue at Western Michigan
Western Michigan's Lady Broncos didn't stand a chance against the Girl Power freight train known as the Purdue Lady Boilermakers. (98-65; Purdue)

* Sacromento State at Texas Tech
After a loss to the Stanford Cardinal, Texas Tech's Lady Red Raiders were impressive against the Sacromento State Lady Hornets. (63-53; TEXAS TECH)

* Charleston Southern at North Carolina
Get your NC Blue on, people! It's Tar Heel basketball! The Lady Tar Heels sported the baby blue as these ladies took on some Lady Buccaneers from Charleston Southern. In the end, this was a no contest. (92-38; NORTH CAROLINA)

* Appalachian State at Maryland
GTPlanet, get ready for back-to-back women's ownages. First off, the Lady Terrapins of Maryland whooped Appalachian State's Lady Mountaineers pretty good. (118-59; )

* Stanford at Pacific
When you think of Malibu, CA, some think of maybe surfing. If that's the case, Stanford brought plenty of sunscreen because they surfed their way to a victory. The Lady Cardinal is proving to be every bit as dominating as their male counterparts. As for Pacific, they accept a huge loss. (109-58; Stanford)

FRIDAY'S GAMES

MEN'S DIVISION

* Texas Southern at Connecticut
It's obvious I think Texas Southern University is the sorriest Houston team in football. They're worse than Rice. That doesn't mean that though the football team was lucky to win one game after losing EVERY game the season before, The TSU Tigers know basketball. Texas Southern put on their maroon uniforms and likely took a bus ride or hit Hobby or Bust Intercontinental Airport to Connecticut. Now, let's look at the 2004 National Champions. The Connecticut Huskies are looking to teach these cats a lesson. And boy, did they ever! Hellacious ownage. Thanks for coming, Texas Southern! Did Connecticut have a bad day and took it out on TSU, or did TSU sense upset and overpursued? UConn won by 64! If that's not ownage, I don't know what is. (113-49; CONNECTICUT)

* Navy at Pennsylvania
Man over board! The Midshipmen felt like they were riding a boat into a hurricane as they lost to the Pennsylvania Quakers of the Ivy Leauge. (86-73; PENNSYLVANIA)

* Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at South Florida
Corpus Christi and Tampa have sort of a tropical feel to them. Both cities are along the Gulf of Mexico. My parents have been to Corpus Christi, but not me. And I've never travelled outside of Texas. But if you want to talk basketball, let's talk about these two schools. As you may know, the Big East is 16 teams strong, with South Florida among them. South Florida and the NBA's Chicago share the same nickname- Bulls. Not too many teams call themselves as Islanders, but Texas A&M-Corpus Christi won't be left on an island ALL ALONE. They proved they could beat ANYONE from the Big East if they could. Texas A&M has all sorts of different TAMU's, like West Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas A&M-Galveston, but Texas A&M-Corpus Christi took care of business. Islanders washed away the Bulls. As a small note, did the South Florida football team upset West Virginia? Find out in my next college football report. (59-47; Texas A&M-Corpus Christi)

* Valparaiso at Tulane
Tulane had plenty of heart in college football, and their basketball program won't be any different. To many, Tulane plays for much more than postseason play. In fact, the Green Wave have sort of been a source of inspiration and courage for New Orleans. Valparaiso is looking to rise up in the nation. The Crusaders represent the Mid-Continent and come from Indiana. They played with heart, honor, determination, and courage, but fall short to the Crusaders. The spread isn't huge, but still a tough loss to take for any team. (79-71; Valparaiso)

"Jacksonville of all Trades" North Florida at Jackonsville
GTPlanet, let's vacation in northern Florida. On top of that, let's meet the newest team on the block in Division 1 basketball- North Florida. This is all about the city of Jacksonville. If you're an NFL fan, you obviously know about and/or love your Jacksonville Jaguars. But do you love your North Florida basketball? Well, the North Florida Ospreys hope to steer your interest, even if only for one day. Well, one team is from Jacksonville, FL. Let's meet the Division 1 veterans. The Jacksonville Dolphins are (I guess) cross-town rivals with their new opponents. Who's the king of northern Florida in this game? Give the "W" to the Dolphins, baby! (88-71; JACKSONVILLE)

* Army at Columbia
It looks like a battle between two New York schools. This is West Point at New York City. The Army Black Knights hope to prove their worth against the baby blue boys of Columbia. Columbia's Lions welcomed the troops as Columbia had its own Lion's Den of basketball talent. In the end, the Black Knights defeated the undefeated Lions in this upset. (67-66; Army)

* Fairleigh Dickinson at Canisius
Florham, New Jersey is where you can find Fairleigh Dickinson. They have a Division 1 basketball program, and a Division 3 football school with the FDU College at Florham. But we're not talking about the FDU College of Florham Devils, we are talking about Friday night Knights. FDU's Knights are brave fighters. The Knights had a big monster to slay when breaking up from the Knights of the Round Table, all out to Canisius armed with a powerful weapon- their basketballs. Legend has it that a ferocious pack of Golden Griffins that rule Canisius. They threaten the skies of the MAAC and much like the Siren of Greek Mythology, enchanted FDU with their song. The fight was long and fierce until the Knights came through to slay the almighty Golden Griffins. Fourty minutes was not enough, but the heroes from Florham, NJ crushed the Golden Griffins, and lived happily ever after. Tell this to your kids in school or a bedtime story. (-, 2OT; Fairleigh Dickinson)

* Boston University at #19 George Washington
George Washington would be proud. Can you imagine if America's first President was still alive and had a chance to adjust to the 21st Century and watching basketball in the school named for him? George Washington (the basketball team) finished 22-8 last year and lost to Georgia Tech in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Now, the Colonials want to return this season as well. The Terriers, however, were ready to deny their path to the NCAA. At the end of the game, they still went through them like a hot night through butter. The Terriers got tamed by 13. Play dead, doggie! (75-62; GEORGE WASHINGTON)

* Lynchburg at Liberty
Okay, I have no idea who the hell Lynchburg is. Only Lynchburg I know of is the Lynchburg Ferry in Galveston. I know of the Lench Mob with Ice Cube back in the day. I do know, Liberty, though. The Flames of Liberty, that is. Give me Liberty, or give me death! The Liberty Flames burned Lynchburg into defeat. (-; LIBERTY)

* Quinnipiac at Cornell
Hamden, Connecticut is the home of Quinnipiac. You may have heard of Quinnipiac if you follow NCAA Hockey, as they are a ranked unit, I believe. The Bobcats can rule not only the rink, but also the hardwood. Ready to take the ball up the (55-45; Quinnipiac)

* Virginia-Wise at VMI
The Keydets of the Virginia Military Institute whips Virginia-Wise. The scores are so easy because the scores and margin are all multiples of 10. Isn't math fun? (80-50; VMI)

* Louisiana-Monroe at Florida State
Texas thrashed Louisiana-Monroe earlier this season, so now they play against another football power with an equally intimidating basketball program- Florida State. The Seminoles call Tallahassee, FL home. It is also the home to Florida A&M and this matchup. The Louisiana-Monroe Indians were ready to make Florida State tap out on the hardwood. While this isn't college wrestling, you can bet this game is going to be like a wrestling match. No steel chairs or outside intereference, of course. (-; )

* Georgia Southern at Missouri State
Missouri State used to be known as Southwest Missouri State. (-; Georgia Southern)

* Missouri at Arkansas (ARKANSAS)
* Fairfield at Iowa (???-???; IOWA)
* Stanford at Montana (???-???; MONTANA)

WOMEN'S DIVISION

Now it's time how the ladies do b-ball. If this is true, Girls Night Out is Friday night hoops as many more teams are in action on the ladies' side.

* Texas Pan-American at Kansas State
Meow! (=^o^=) Let's go to America's Little Apple in Manhattan, KS. Why did I bring up the cute kitty in my story? That's because we have a bunch of kittens ready to play basketball. Yes, cats can play basketball... especially wildcats. These Lady Wildcats don't like horses who think they can play hoops. Of course, cats vs. dogs is overrated, so why not some horsepower? The Texas Pan-American Broncs certainly know about that. (-; )

* South Florida at #7 North Carolina
(71-47; NORTH CAROLINA)

* Washington at #5 Baylor
(81-74; BAYLOR)

SATURDAY GAMES
Now, I'll normally take a break from games with Sunday, so you're able to discuss the week in college basketball. I'll even bring on my typical weekly specials. Here's how I do things:

-----
(This is a sample report. Don't think this is an actual report.)

BIGGEST WIN(S) OF THE WEEK Hawaii Defeats Michigan State in Honolulu Usually, the BIGGEST WIN(S) OF THE WEEK is a win for a program which either gives a team confidence in future games, ends a losing streak, or comes from behind to win. If there are other notable wins, I'll note other wins in this field.

MOST DISAPPOINTING LOSS(ES) OF THE WEEK Seattle Disgraced by Southern California The MOST DISAPPOINTING LOSS(ES) OF THE WEEK is characterized by a team who loses to a team they can easily beat, committed too many errors to eventually lose, a great team continues a losing streak, that sort of thing.

UPSET(S) OF THE WEEK (if any) Villanova Disgraces #2 Kansas by At Least 30 Points This speaks for itself. If a team was a pure underdog but wins under pressure, an unranked team defeating a higher-ranked team, perhaps a lower-ranked team defeating a higher-ranked team. I count these as upsets. If you're higher-ranked and you lose to a lower-ranked team, you qualify as an UPSET specialist.

OWNAGES OF THE WEEK (Men) North Carolina crushes North Carolina-Wilimington and (Women) Minnesota Roots Wisconsin-Green Bay to the Ground Unlike football, basketball is a men's AND women's sport. So I want to cover the experience as much as I can. This is my personal favorite segment because I like saying "OWNED!" with some teams who lose big.

SATURDAY'S GAMES, MEN's SCORES
Well, I have mostly scores than stories, so let's do this.

* Memphis at Cincinatti
Can we go through one day without the controversial ultimatum Cincinatti president Nancy Zimpher gave to Bob Huggins? Well, the road doesn't get any tougher for the Cincinatti Bearcats. (91-81; Memphis)

* #15 Arizona at Houston
This is a chance to see the great Arizona team crash into my hometown of Houston, TX. It is very interesting to see a game like this with both teams getting on-air publicity. Hoffheinz Pavillion may not look like the Carrier Dome, the Kennel, Coack K Arena, or whatever, but when a Houston home game is on tap, you know it's going to be as loud as when the Houston football team play at Robetson Stadium. The Arizona Wildcats are ready for an easy game on their hands. Or will it be an easy game? The Cougars want to show some new life with their amazing gamebreaker Lafayette. They led 29-27, and when the game finally ended, the spread was 4. "Turnaround" Tom Penders got it done BIG. For the Cougar's sake, "a little more respect, please?" Cougars are 3-1 with this victory. MASSIVE win. (69-65; HOUSTON)

* North Carolina at #10 Kentucky
(83-79; North Carolina)

* Central Florida at Florida
Orlando and Gainesville meet up in this matchup. (80-47; FLORIDA)

* Prairie View A&M at #6 Louisville
Prairie View, TX is a good place for basketball, but you have to hit the road sometimes. As long as that road isn't to Freedom Hall, then it's all good, player. (90-65; LOUISVILLE)

* Michigan at Notre Dame
In football, Michigan lost to Notre Dame which would be the start of a disappointing season for Big Blue. Michigan basketball likely isn't the king of Michigan, but the Wolverines aren't afraid to give it all they got on the hardwood. The hardwood of choice is their football rivals, Notre Dame. (71-67; Michigan)

"Fur Will Fly" San Diego at Furman
(80-73; San Diego)

* Saint Louis at Wisconsin-Milwaukee
(82-71; WISCONSIN-MILWAUKEE)

* Texas Southern at UTEP
(82-59; TEXAS-EL PASO)

* UAB at Nebraska
(73-72; Alabama-Birmingham)

* Utah at Rice
Triple Overtime is more exciting than one overtime. Certainly Rice and Utah proved that. Putting Houston's pride intact, this game was a thriller as the boys from Salt Lake City couldn't stop the Owls. Utes lose in Houston. (96-94, 3OT; RICE)

* Washington and Jefferson at West Virginia
(83-33; WEST VIRGINIA

* Xavier vs. #12 Illinois (Chicago, IL)
(65-62; Illinois)

* Arkansas-Little Rock at Michigan State
(72-67; MICHIGAN STATE)

* Wake Forest at Elon
(78-59; Wake Forest)

* Oklahoma at Villanova
(85-74; VILLANOVA)

* Texas-Arlington at Texas
(93-55; TEXAS)

* Sacred Heart at Boston College
(77-66; BOSTON COLLEGE)

* Eastern Michigan at Indiana
(79-63; INDIANA)

* Winthrop at #21 Alabama
(60-57; ALABAMA)

* Valparaiso at #14 Iowa
(72-59; IOWA)

* #20 Nevada at Pacific
(77-70; Nevada)

* Texas Tech at San Francisco
(90-72; SAN FRANCISCO)

SATURDAY'S GAMES, WOMEN's SCORES

* Oral Roberts at Oklahoma
(107-76; OKLAHOMA)

* Texas Pan-American at Houston
(63-51; HOUSTON)

* Rutgers at San Jose State
(74-66; Rutgers)

* Ohio State at Boston College
(66-61, OT; Ohio State)

* Loyola Marymount at Utah
(63-47; UTAH)

* Nebraska at Minnesota
(78-70; MINNESOTA)

* UCLA at Clemson
(76-63; California-Los Angeles)

* Florida at #18 Temple
(58-55; Florida)

* #22 Purdue at #14 DePaul
(64-55; DePAUL)

* Western Kentucky at #15 Arizona State
(78-64; ARIZONA STATE)

Since I got lazy with my coverage, Yahoo Sports is my source for most of these scores.

Where's this week's games? Don't tell me that this has failed already?

Anyway, UK plays twice this week and they have a lot to make up for after already losing twice this year.

Sorry, FoolKiller. The pace is slow. Plus, this is my first crack at covering college hoops games. Have to do football and basketball.

Having said that, notable scores will be in the next thread.
