So you had your Finals at GTPlanet University. The Fall Semester of college football is all or mostly over for the regular season. This is the first of two "mini-semesters" where this one is about the regular season in review, Heisman winners, All-American stars, and more.

Here is the final BCS rankings.

01 - Ohio State
02 - Louisiana State
03 - Virginia Tech
04 - Oklahoma
05 - Georgia

06 - Missouri
07 - Southern California
08 - Kansas
09 - West Virginia
10 - Hawaii/Hawai'i!

11 - Arizona State
12 - Florida
13 - Illinois
14 - Boston College
15 - Clemson
16 - Tennessee
17 - Brigham Young
18 - Wisconsin
19 - Texas
20 - Virginia
21 - South Florida
22 - Cincinnati
23 - Auburn
24 - Boise State
25 - Connecticut

As predicted by me and some others in sports media, I predicted this would be Ohio State vs. LSU. So for the second-successive season, it's Ohio State vs. an SEC team for the National Championship. Ohio State got the crap beat out of them by the Florida Gators. Florida has been a non-factor this season, but it still means that LSU may pick up an outright title if they shut down Ohio State.

So why are you here? You're here to discuss the regular season Talk about your favorite moments, least favorite moments, your own evaluations of your favorite team, best players and coaches... that sort of thing. It's postseason time for FBS, but we're nearing champions in Divisions FCS through 3. ANY collegiate team is fair game. I don't want it being just FBS schools. I want your North Dakota State, your Grand Valley State, your West Texas A&M, your Mount Union, your Western Kentucky... so let me hear it!

I hope OSU gets their asses kicked by LSU because a.) they are a better team and b.) they deserve the title more. I didn't even see what bowl game (if any) U of M is going to.

Here are your Heisman finalists:

Colt Brennan (QB, Hawaii)
Chase Daniel (QB, Missouri)
Darren McFadden (RB, Arkansas)
Tim Tebow (QB, Florida)

A lot of poeple picked Tim Tebow to win the Heisman. I have him as my favorite to win after hearing of all his stats this season. 20+ TD's in passing and rushing respectively. Pretty awesome all-around guy. Colt Brennan may not get as much love because he plays out in Hawaii, away from most audiences. Then too, ESPN talked about how Andre Ware won the Heisman by playing for a school that didn't get any air time on the networks- Houston. I think my short list is between Colt Brennan and Tim Tebow. What about you guys?

This Saturday, we'll see who will become the Heisman winner. I think it will come down to Tim Tebow and Colt Brennan. I want to say Brennan will win, but I think people are just going to be swooning to Tim Tebow much like how Elvis or Sinatra was swooning ladies with their music. So I think Tim Tebow is pretty likely going to win the Heisman unless the rest of the nation bought into Colt Brennan.

This is not a week of action (outside of playoff action). So we have the big one.

Hello Heisman! The Reason to Go to New York City if You are a College Football Fan
* Tim Tebow {QB, Florida} vs. Darren McFadden {RB, Arkansas} vs. Colt Brennan {QB, Hawaii} vs. Chase Daniels {QB, Missouri}
It's time for a little Saturday Night Football... in suits and ties. I'm not talking about tackling the crap out of your boss and some of your co-workers. I'm not talking about heaving your dress shoes down the hallway for a janitor to somehow pick you off. I'm not talking about getting a Personal Foul for unecessarily roughing the cute secretary or receptionist up front. I'm talking about a different kind of game, where only a select few can win the highest honor of college football recognition. Football is a team sport, but one man outshines an entire pack of players. The battlefield for this game is the Downtown Athletic Club in New York City, NY. Piscataway, NJ is told to be the home region for college football in the metropolitan area of New York City. However, four players are tackling each other to win the respect of a nation. Someone's name will be enshrined among the best in all of college football history. It's named after the legendary John Heisman. It is a chance to be regarded as one of the best-ever in college football. Tim Tebow was the odds-on favorite to win... and he's your 2007 Heisman winner. (Tim Tebow; QB, Florida - 2007 Heisman winner)

John's Personal Comments[/B}
I didn't read into the stories too much. All I do know is that Tim Tebow outdone himself to acheive this great honor. Having 20+ touchdowns in passing and rushing respectively make his numbers incredible. On top of that, FINALLY... the first sophomore to win the Heisman. I always thought Larry Fitzgerald should have won the Heisman over Jason White back in the 2004(?) Heisman race. I think he was a sophomore before being drafted to the Arizona Cardinals. Some say the Heisman deal is overrated. For some other people, it's a chance for other teams to pound the crap out of the Heisman winner's team, especially if they play in a BCS Bowl game. Think of Texas taking on Reggie Bush in the classic 2006 Rose Bowl. I think Reggie Bush could lose his Heisman if these investigations and such have their way with Reggie Bush. Anyhow, congratulations to Tim Tebow. I was thinking about FoolKiller when ESPN shown Tim Tebow taking care of business when they played at Kentucky. Probably thinking, "why did ESPN have to show Tebow beating down my Wildcats?" Well, it's the same question I ask when ESPN show my Houston Texans getting beat.

So there you have it. In a future post, I'll link you information regarding this year's All-Americans. Tim Tebow is part of the 2007 All-Americans as is Darren McFadden.

I have a few news notes ranging from ESPNEWS to collegesportsinfo.com. Check these out:

College Football News and Notes
Bobby Petrino Resigns from NFL and Going Back to School
Earlier today, Bobby Petrino left his 3-10 Atlanta Falcons to return to school. He's negotiating to become the head coach of Arkansas. Before jumping to the NFL, he was the former head football coach of the University of Louisville. He had success in Louisville, so I wonder what he could pull in Arkansas.

South Alabama Reintroduces Talk of Football
I checked my feeds on Opera and noted some collegesportsinfo.com entries. South Alabama is usually a basketball school. USA has a gret basketball program. I always say the Sun Belt will come down to Western Kentucky and South Alabama in men's basketball. Could that also hold true if the Jaguars have football? Anyone who know their college football know that Mobile, Alabama has Ladd-Peebles Stadium. It's usually there to rot from the perspective of South Alabama ever having any aspirations to host football. If the deal pulls through from all the experimental phases, then South Alabama will have football. They will likely play in the Sun Belt. Getting these deals finalized could take about 3 to 5 years. I'll still be interested in Jaguars football at USA.

North Alabama to FCS?
South Alabama's been in Division 1 athletics all along. North Alabama wants to upgrade to Division 1. Imagine what would happen if North Alabama were to join South Alabama. That would INSTANTLY spark a rivalry. Two schools are usually rivals if they bear some direction. For example, Central Michigan and Western Michigan are rivals. Southeastern Oklahoma State and Southwestern Oklahoma State are Division 2 rivals. The Lions of UNA are a pretty tough opponent in Division 2 football. Lions and Jaguars... when USA gets football and if UNA goes to FCS, just to get into FBS, then we're going to have a cat fight in Alabama! More information on the North Alabama Lions can be found here: < http://www.roarlions.com/ >.

There was also talk that Les Miles will remain at LSU. I was watching ESPN's "Pardon the Interruption" when I heard this story. The tandem of Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon noted that the Les Miles story is this year's edition of the Nick Saban story last year. Locally, I think we've narrowed down our search for a new head coach for my hometown's Houston Cougars. I don't know who they are.

I'll provide some limited commentary in this thread. I know I have to make more touches to my college football postseason thread because playoffs are about ready to end this weekend. It begins with the matchup of Appalachian State vs. Delaware this Friday. Then on Saturday, the Division 2 and Division 3 National Championships are up for grabs. So stay tuned for that.

Did any of you see College Football Live today? Bob Griese offered his comments about Bobby Petrino leaving. His first words: "makes me sick." He thought this was a bad day for coaching because of a lack of commitment, and in lacking character. He mentioned, "when the tough get going... we quit?" Griese was pretty vocal about him leaving the Atlanta Falcons to return to college.

Now for Lou Holtz's two cents. He mentioned something along the lines of not honoring commitments when this happens. This also includes screwing over Atlanta.

Do you all see things the way Bob Griese sees Petrino? Do you think there is a sort of problem concerning commitments?

Away from this issue, the ACC plans to move the ACC Championship game to two different venues the next four years. Next season's ACC Championship game will be in Tampa Bay in 2008 and 2009. The ACC Championship game will move to Charlotte, NC in 2010 and 2011.

Michigan, meet your new head coach:

Rich Rodriguez!

That's right. West Virginia's Rich Rodriguez has been hired to coach at the University of Michigan. Rich has taken West Virginia to some of their most successful seasons including a lot of Bowl berths. Now he'll try to carry the winning tradition at Michigan. Can he do it? We'll see next August or next September.
