Welcome to another season of college football on GTPlanet! All the collegiate action had their Summer break. But now, it's time to lace up, pad up, and hit up the competition! There's only one game this week- a Division 2 showdown on Saturday night. In case you may be new to my threads, let me give you a little review.

It begins with a bold header, showcasing the city and a headline. The two teams playing will be shown on a line with an asterisk (*) in the layout of AwayTeam at HomeTeam or Team-A vs. Team-B. Nicknames (if I know them) will be placed in brackets {}. In the case of ranked teams, a #?? will be placed before the school's name. The final result has been easy to find with bolding the report. But this season, I'm going to underline the result. Then, in parentheses (), the score and winning team will be featured. A win by the Home team will be in CAPITAL LETTERS. The school name will be spelled out. So rather than (for example) a win by UCLA, it will appear as "University of California-Los Angeles." If a game goes into overtime, then I will note "OT." Multiple overtimes will go down as "#OT" depending upon however many overtimes were played. The "OT" namesake will go after the score.

This is a sample report I make for my posts:

Houston, Texas - Cougars and Owls Clash for Hometown Pride
* Rice {Owls} at Houston {Cougars}
Once again, it's time to settle the score between two schools seperated by less than five miles. Nothing like taking on a crosstown rival in a game like this. The Cougars are looking to finish this regular season on a high while taking their rivals from across town to the woodshed. The Rice Owls, however, can only play spoiler in taking on (and maybe taking down) the Cougars. City pride is on the line. Let's get it on. The Houston Cougars got their revenge after a great game between these two last year. (35-28; HOUSTON)

Now let's talk colors. Blue scores are either for extras or big wins. Red scores are for disappointing losses or announcements. Magenta is for upsets (determined by rankings). And finally, orange denotes blowout wins. The largest margin of victory will win "OWNAGE OF THE WEEK."

This season, I don't think I'm going to do "Biggest Win" and "Most Disappointing Loss." Instead, I'd like to get all of you to decide what you think is the biggest win and most disappointing loss. I'm doing this so that I can actually get some more involvement in my discussions.

So, uh... welcome to a new season!

NCAA FBS begins: Sep. 3
NCAA FCS begins: Sep. 3
NCAA Division 2 begins: Aug. 22
NCAA Division 3 begins: Sep. 3(?)

The game tomorrow night involves two historically-black institutions as Tuskegee will play at Benedict. I'll have the results from this game tomorrow night. In the meanwhile, anything college football is fair game. Something on your mind in college football, post some replies. Don't be scared!

Wow it feels like NCAA football just ended, I'm excited for another year and I look forward to your weekly reports 👍!

Thank you, kind sir! I'll do my best in my... fourth or fifth time covering collegiate football here on GTPlanet!

College football is back! Division 2 gets ready to hit it off tonight.

Columbia, SC - How Do You Like Your Tigers?
* #16 Tuskegee {Golden Tigers} at Benedict {Tigers}
Two historically-Black institutions are ready to kick off the new season proper. It's time to see what Tigers will roar loudest in this match. The Tuskegee Golden Tigers are perhaps the best HBCU team in Division 2 college football. They look to show this by going to South Carolina. The Tigers of Benedict College, however, want to start the year off right as much as Tuskegee wants to start the year off right. So let's get this started, ya? Tuskegee's off on the right foot with a big win. (27-7; #16 Tuskegee)

Divisions FBS, FCS, and Division 3 all start September 3rd. For now, this thread is all about Division 2 kicking off the new season. Just because D2 is in action doesn't mean we still can't talk about the other divisions of NCAA football. I may even talk NAIA and maybe NJCAA football. But still, it's all about NCAA football for the most part.

Today on "College Football Live" on ESPN, there was mentioning of two rule changes for this year. One of the changes relates to the quarterback pass/fumble. This involves two issues: (1) did the QB pass the ball forward prior to a fumble, and (2) if the ball was knocked out of the QB's hands, who receives the football on a fumble... or is it a fumble? These are really tough to determine, so I'll have to see how this affects play, if at all.

The other issue involves head targeting. If a player leads with his helmet to force helmet-to-helmet contact, penalties could range from disqualifications to ejections. There are still several gray areas to determine what helmet-to-helmet contact is actually punishable.

Other than that, more Division 2 action coming your way tomorrow!

Did the season start already? LOTS of games to talk about from Thursday! They chose Division 2, and here are how the D2 footballers threw down this Thursday:

To demonstrate RAPID FIRE, I've come along with this report. You may have noticed for scores that I'm now citing my sources. Just not in the MLA format like for most papers I did back in college. So check my source for more scores, and in the meanwhile, check out this report of a few games that took place.

Way back on August 27th in FCS, Quincy (non-NCAA school) beat Indiana State at Indiana State in Overtime. Quincy won 26-20 in Overtime. Then again... Indiana State is one of the worst football teams in the nation.
