A new week has begun, GTPlanet! Playoffs are underway in Division 2. Get ready for another wild week of college football action where many others are playing for positioning.

This is the week where crucial matches happen. This is the week where intensity gets kicked up a notch. This is the week where teams try to keep a straight face and move forward. This is the week where we continue to find contenders from pretenders, both with teams and in the Heisman race.

A new week has kicked off! Time to carry the rock down the field into the other end zone.

This Week's Schedule
FBS: Sun, Wed-Sat
FCS: Thu and Sat
D2: (playoffs - see postseason thread)
D3: (playoffs - see postseason thread)

Division FBS Scores

Tulsa, Oklahoma - Golden Hurricane Seeks to Throw Around Some Pirates
* East Carolina {Pirates} at Tulsa {Golden Hurricane}
The only thing that got thrown around was Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane was no match for the ECU Pirates. (44-17; East Carolina)

For Thursday, I'll have the results of Colorado at Oklahoma State (this one shouldn't even be close) and the FCS match. Enjoy your football, folks!

Love your football on Thursday? You may have seen Miami at Carolina in the NFL. But... don't forget the college boys!

--- Division FBS Scores ---

Stillwater, Oklahoma - Cowboys Seek to Brand Some Buffalo
* Colorado {Buffaloes} at #12 Oklahoma State {Cowboys}
Okay. I initially thought this would be a whitewashing by the Cowboys. However, the Cowboys barely took down the Colorado Buffaloes. (31-28; #12 OKLAHOMA STATE)

--- Division FCS (RAPID FIRE) Scores ---
* Tennessee State at #13 Eastern Illinois (21-10; Tennessee State)
* Nicholls State at Southeastern Louisiana (45-30; Nicholls State)

More action to come in future reports! Stay tuned to your boy here on GTPlanet for more college football action!

* #6 Boise State at Utah State (52-21; #6 Boise State)
* Akron at Bowling Green State (36-20; BOWLING GREEN STATE)

Full report to come in the future. Thanks for reading, people!

UGA VII, the Georgia Bulldog mascot, passed away recently. I'm sure he'll be enjoying doggie Heaven. Are you ready for some intense college football action? We got a little of everything this week- cupcakes, rivalries, crucial matches for placement in BCS bowls, teams fighting for their lives to finish with a winning record... all this and more. You came to the right place as I'll be doing college football for all of you.

There will be no Division 2 or Division 3 highlights here. For those, check my Postseason Thread ( https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=122699 ). Now let's begin!

--- Division FBS Scores ---
I decided to choose #10 Ohio State at Michigan as my GAME OF THE WEEK, though a MUCH better game was played elsewhere. You may have seen the results already if you saw my earlier post. But for now, let's talk college football!

Ann Arbor, Michigan - Wolverines Leaking Oil Trying to Reach the Finish Line of a Winning Season
* #10 Ohio State {Buckeyes} at Michigan {Wolverines} --- GAME OF THE WEEK ---
These are not like old times. Usually, both teams would be guaranteed a Bowl game, let alone a BCS Bowl game. Michigan looked promising from the start with a 4-0 record. Since? The Wolverines went 1-6 heading into this match. They are now 5-6. And their only hope of getting six wins is to beat their best friends (please!) from Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes want to pack up and head to Pasadena, California to play in the Rose Bowl. It's back-to-back losing seasons since Michigan went 30+ years of making Bowl Games. How much more patience in Rich Rodriguez to Michigan fans have? We'll see between now and next season[/U].

FINAL SCORE:
#10 - Ohio State - 21

Michigan - 10

OFF-TOPIC:
I was really disappointed at how some Wolverines' fans gave up on Michigan. I could see more scarlet and gray than blue and maize. It's almost as if some fans thought Michigan were already done and didn't stand a snowball's chance in Hell (not Hell, Michigan; mind you) of beating Ohio State. This, to me, was more disappointing than Michigan enduring back-to-back losing seasons. I even said they'd make a 7-5 record or something. But wow... this was tough to take.

Tuscon, Arizona - Wildcats Seek Relevance if They Can Cook Some Ducks
* #11 Oregon {Ducks} at Arizona {Wildcats}
Remember when the University of Arizona would constantly fail on the football field? While not a 2007 Kansas turnaround, the Arizona Wildcats still were a pack of kittens reborn. Oregon is not a bunch of lame Ducks. These are green and yellow boys that have their eyes fixated on a Rose Bowl bid. I wasn't able to see this because the game in my region was Kansas at #3 Texas. Results of that game later in this report. It took Double Overtime for Oregon to stay strong and stay alive for any chance to meet Ohio State in January. (44-41, 2OT; #11 Oregon)

South Bend, Indiana - Two Teams Need in Need of a Win Settle Their Differences to Find Solace
* Connecticut {Huskies} at Notre Dame {Fighting Irish}
You can't help but feel sad for both teams. I especially feel sad for UConn since the stabbing death of one of their players. The Huskies have lost very close games. They now tussle against Notre Dame, and if you read the title, they are also in need of a win. Just to save Charlie Weis' backside. The Huskies pulled out the victory. (33-30, 2OT; Connecticut)

Houston, Texas - Cougars and Tigers Compete to Become the Coolest Cats in Conference USA
* Memphis {Tigers} at #24 Houston {Cougars}
Yes... Houston dropped all the way down to #24 in their loss at Central Florida. Houston is still Cougar Town, and H-Town loves their Coogs. Likewise, the Memphis Tigers are loved by the folks up in Graceland. One team will win while another will fall. Houston beat Memphis like they were exacting revenge against UTEP and Central Florida. (55-14; #24 HOUSTON)

Athens, Georgia - UGA VII Wants His Bulldogs to Beat Kentucky in Loving Memory of UGA VII
* Kentucky {Wildcats} at Georgia {Bulldogs}
Kentucky at Georgia. Blue vs. red. Cats vs. dogs. Kentucky's Wildcats are ready to cover Athens in Kentucky blue. However, Georgia's playing with heavy Bulldog hearts for the passing of UGA VII. Kentucky's touchdown win was just enough to deny Georgia's bid to down Kentucky. Be proud, FoolKiller. (34-27; Kentucky)

Oxford, Mississippi - Rebels Seek Rebellion Against LSU
* #10 LSU {Tigers} at Mississippi {Rebels}
The SEC on CBS had this matchup between LSU and Mississippi. Ole Miss' Rebels are ready to overrate LSU. The Tigers, meanwhile, would love to return to LSU and celebrate a victory against the Rebels. LSU lost to two opponents- Mississippi and themselves. Poor clock management eliminated any hopes of a possible BCS Bowl berth. (25-23; MISSISSIPPI)

Laramie, Wyoming - Horned Frogs Refuse to be a Fading Memory, or at Least Try To...
* #4 TCU {Horned Frogs} at Wyoming {Cowboys}
Wyoming's only FBS (maybe even only Division 1 team) are ready to go to work. The Cowboys are looking to lasso up some amphibians from Texas. The Horned Frogs of TCU handled Wyoming quite well. (45-10; #4 Texas Christian)

Palo Alto, California - Bay Area Pride on the Line Between Two Feared Rivals
* #25 California {Golden Bears} at #14 Stanford {Cardinal}
Anyone who follows college football knows the classic Stanford band incident from the early 1980s. The Stanford Cardinal have done pretty well, even considering their white washing of USCal last week. The Golden Bears only hibernate in the Summer. They can't wait to get after Stanford and take home that axe. Just like an axe California chopped Stanford's high ranking apart, as they had to take a hard upset. TIMBER!... crash. (34-28; #25 California)

Troy, Alabama - Talented Sun Belt Teams Trade Blows for Sun Belt Pride
* Florida Atlantic {Owls} at Troy {Trojans}
The other Men of Troy hail from Troy, Alabama. The Trojans are looking to silence the FAU Owls. FAU would love to return to Boca Raton, Florida with a win. Unfortunately, FAU F-A-I-L-E-D against Troy. (47-21; TROY)

Evanston, Illinois - Northwestern Deems Wisconsin Overrated
* #17 Wisconsin {Badgers} at Northwestern {Wildcats}
In suburban Chicago, Evanston is seeking a great win against the Wisconsin Badgers. The Wildcats can taste victory, only as long as they can down Wisconsin. The Badgers are in no way ready to give up their high ranking. Northwestern said "too damn bad!" and handed Wisconsin the upset they didn't want. Be proud, Michael Wilbon. (33-31; NORTHWESTERN)

Iowa City, Iowa - Floyd of Rosedale Will Oink Proudly to Whomever Wins Him
* Minnesota {Golden Gophers} at #15 Iowa {Hawkeyes}
Border states make great rivals. So is the case with Minnesota and Iowa. They play for a trophy called Floyd of Rosedale. This little piggy statue will go to to the winner of Minnesota and Iowa. While Minnesota is geographically above Iowa, Iowa is above Minnesota this seaaon. The 15th-ranked Hawkeyes will look to cement their great season by giving Minnesota a big loss. The Golden Gophers, however, aren't going out like punks. Iowa wins this game in a baseball-like score. Minnesota put up rock on the scoreboard in any attempts to ruffle Iowa's feathers. (12-0; #15 IOWA)

East Lansing, Michigan - Michigan's Other Big Ten Team is Done Laughing at Michigan's Woes, but Needs to Prepare for Penn State
* #13 Pennsylvania State {Nittany Lions} at Michigan State {Spartans}
The Michigan State Spartans failed to put up much of a fight as the final score was completely lopsided in favor of the Nittany Lions. (42-14; #13 Pennsylvania State)

These two games were not even close, so I'll just flash these across:
* Florida International {Owls} at #1 Florida {Gators} (62-3; #1 FLORIDA)
* Chattanooga {Mocs} at #2 Alabama {Crimson Tide} (45-0; #2 ALABAMA)

I haven't given up hope for my Michigan team. That said I'm still kinda on the fence about Coach Rod. Part of me wants to see him go but then the other part wants to see him stay and try to make next year the year we've been hoping for. I know its wrong of me to say that I'm kinda wanting him to go even though he's been here only 2 seasons now. That's pretty much why it seems like the part wanting him to stay is kinda winning. Lol. I guess I'm wanting to get back to winning and having good 7-8+ win seasons. :)

Time to note my UPSET and OWNAGE winners.

My UPSET OF THE WEEK is...
...#8 LSU Upsetting Themselves at Mississippi!

People have been talking about the Bill Belechick(?) call on 4th and 2. Well, this one would be just as bad with pathetic clock management.

My OWNAGE OF THE WEEK is...
...Florida International "pwned" 62-3 at #1 Florida!

This game was a no contest. It is also an ownage, though. BEAT DOWN!!!

Here's your musical fix:

Next week should be something special with more rivalries and some more key matchups in the FBS. Take care, everyone!

I'm willing to give Rodriguez one more season to pull Michigan together, if we have another losing season next year I would like to see him fired. I knew Michigan was going to be in for a rough couple of years though, so I haven't give up hope yet.

This weeks Big 10 action

Ann Arbor,Michigan.
The hosting Wolverines taking on the now sole Big 10 Champs,Ohio State Buckeyes.Michigan needing a very,very desperate win to get a bid at a bowl game and to avoid back to back losing seasons (something that has not occured since '63).Michigan also seeking a win to avoid making school history (consecutive losing seasons consisting of 7 or more losses).It wasn't meant to be.In front of 109.000 + fans,Michigan came out on the short end of the stick.For 223 straight games,the Big House has hosted crowds this large,thats impressive.
Final : Ohio State 21 - Michigan 10

(BTW - Jim Tressel owns Michigan 8-1) :sly: Worthy of a script Ohio

Iowa City,Iowa.
The host Hawkeyes taking on the Golden Gophers of Minnesota.The Hawkeyes pitched a shut-out against the Gophers in not exactly the highest of scoring games.Iowa retains it's good hopes of a BCS Bowl bid.
Final : Iowa 12 - Minnesota 0

East Lansing,Michigan.
The Michigan State Spartans playing host to the visiting boys from Penn State.From the Michigan standpoint,a great game heading into the locker room at halftime.From a Penn State standpoint,not very pretty.Joe Pa fired up the troops at the half.The second half was all PSU.
Final : Penn State 42 - Michigan State 14

Bloomington,Indiana.
The Purdue Boilermakers come to town in hopes of trying to salvage what could be left of the season.Both teams,Indiana Hoosiers and the Purdue Boilermakers really have nothing to play for in this one,both teams out of bowl contention.What do they do ? They play for the Old Oaken Bucket,which by the way was retained by Purdue.
Final : Purdue 38 - Indiana 21

Evanston,Illinois.
The host Northwestern Wildcats taking on the Wisconsin Badgers.Northwestern took a 27 - 14 lead into the locker room.The second half played almost a stalemate.Northwestern holds off a charge by the Badgers and hangs on to win their 3rd straight game,making them bowl eligible.Very nice late season charge by the Wildcats to get a bowl bid.
Final : Northwestern 33 - Wisconsin 31
