Boise State, TCU, and Houston have all remained unbeaten thus far. Gator Nation is sad to see Tim Tebow get taken out in Florida's game at Kentucky.

FBS Schedule: Wed - Sat
FCS Schedule: Thu and Sat
D2 Schedule: Thu - Sat
D3 Schedule: Fri and Sat

--- NFL Focus ---
The NFL's the next destination for some of the best college football players. Time to take a brief look at who all won on this day.

Houston, Texas - Texans Come Home After Taking Down the Titans
* Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans
Houston possibly could have won the game, but poor execution late sealed their fate. The Jaguars and Texans share a 1-2 record. (31-7; Jacksonville Jaguars)

NOTE: I didn't do all scores in time, so visit the link to see who all won.

RAPID FIRE
* Tennessee Titans at New York Jets (24-17; NEW YORK JETS)
* Washington Redskins at Detroit Lions (19-14; DETROIT LIONS)
* Chicago Bears at Seattle Seahawks (25-19; Chicago Bears)
* Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals (23-20; CINCINNATI BENGALS)
* Green Bay at St. Louis (36-17; Green Bay Packers)
* Atlanta Falcons at New England Patriots (26-10; NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS)
* Indianapolis Colts at Arizona Falcons (31-10; Indianapolis Colts) ---SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL---

The Monday Night game involves the Carolina Panthers at the Dallas Cowboys.

So I go to work with scores starting on Wednesday. Feel free to chat about the previous week here in this thread.

A little injury talk now.

People, I'm absolutely squeamish and scared on that unfortunate bench-pressing injury that Stafon Johnson (USCal, TB) suffered. It's said that Tim Tebow COULD be back when they'll take on LSU in Baton Rouge two weeks from now. I'm also hoping Sam Bradford is able to rebound from his injury.

Not sure what I'd call as my "Game of the Week," but I think Michigan will face their first true test when they head to Michigan State. Tate Forcier is the man for the Wolverines' offense. In the Michigan/Michigan State rivalry, I'd sure like to see how Michigan handles Michigan State.

Tomorrow night, I'll have score results from Hawaii at Louisiana Tech. If you want to look foward to some of this week's matches, feel free to comment away. Here are some of the games [in FBS] this week:

* Colorado at West Virginia
* Pittsburgh at Louisville
* #22 Michigan at Michigan State
* Wisconsin at Minnesota (Rivalry)
* #3 Alabama at Kentucky
* Washington at Notre Dame
* Auburn at Tennessee
* SMU at #11 TCU
* #7 USCal at #24 California
* #8 Oklahoma at #17 Miami

Thanks for reading, everyone! Take care!

I know no one is reluctant to have a spirited discussion about Hawaii at Louisiana Tech tonight, but that's the only game on the menu tonight. I'll have results of this game when I complete my report. Feel free to chime in on upcoming matches this week.

I'm looking forward to the Michigan v. Michigan State game this weekend, although it probably won't be as exciting of a game as it has been in the past. With State going in 1-3 and U of M coming in undefeated it seems like a bit of a lopsided match.

I'm from Texas. One of Texas' next-door neighbors is Louisiana. So let's check out some college football that took place in Louisiana.

--- Division FBS Scores ---

Rustic, Louisiana - Bulldogs Ready to Feast on Some Warriors
* Hawaii {[Rainbow] Warriors} at Louisiana Tech {Bulldogs}
Rustic, LA is home to Louisiana Tech. To some people, the odd school of the WAC, since it's not even regionally within where most of the other schools are. It's still a very good football school. The Bulldogs will look to take a bite out of Hawaii. Since Jun Jones' departure, the Warriors haven't been all that good lately. Think LA Tech will do them any favors? Nope. The Bulldogs mopped the floor with Hawaii. (27-6; LOUISIANA TECH)

Division FCS plays Thursday and Saturday; Division 2 begins Thursday and goes into Saturday; Division 3 begins Friday and continues Saturday

I'm pretty sure the ESPN game will be Pittsburgh at Louisville, unless they like the battle for Utah pride as Utah State travels to #20 BYU.

There's something I forgot to mention from the Houston/Texas Tech game. Three Texas Tech players had their Twitter accounts removed by posting some bad stuff about Coach Leach after the loss.

The game that will be shown on ESPN tonight will be Colorado at West Virginia. It's Big XII meets Big East. I think the ESPNU match will be Alcorn State at Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Enjoy tonight's games! Now, there's supposed to be a high chance of showers and thunderstorms here tonight. So I am not sure if I'll be able to supplement my scores to all of you tonight or overnight.

It's now October. All the madness of September now gives way to October. This is the month where most teams play conference matches. It's how you do in conference that really determines your merit and value. But for now, let's find out how teams fared on this Thursday night of college football.

Morgantown, West Virginia - A Stampede of Black and Gold Meets a Scrappy Bunch of Blue and Gold
* Colorado {Buffaloes} at West Virginia {Mountaineers}
West Virginia called for a Gold-Out. Will it work, or will it be as effective as the White-Out Penn State called for against Iowa? The Mountaineers are ready to spay and neuter some Buffaloes. Colorado's football field is one of the most beautiful of any school, but they'll have to get ugly in trying to take down West Virginia. Despite West Virginia's turnover problems, they still managed to get the win. (35-24; WEST VIRGINIA)

Birmingham, Alabama - The "Football Capital of the South" Braces Itself for Some C-USA Football
* Southern Mississippi {Golden Eagles} at UAB {Blazers}
Get ready for Conference USA as we have two teams that wear gold. The University of Southern Mississippi will likely cheer on Brett Favre as he'll proudly represent the Golden Eagles on Monday Night Football. The other end of the spectrum lies UAB. The Blazers are ready to blaze up the night with their green and gold crew. It was all in a day's work for the Blazers as USM falls to 3-2. (30-17; ALABAMA-BIRMINGHAM)

* Alcorn State at Arkansas-Pine Bluff (-; ) <<< must have been postponed for bad weather

D2. Let's go.

* #16 Valdosta State at #9 Delta State (31-23; #9 DELTA STATE)

Division 3 Begins Friday

I've been all mixed up on upcoming games. Haven't decided on a "GAME OF THE WEEK" yet. See you Friday! :)

First weekend of October 2009 set to get underway. Time to get things going!

Louisville, Kentucky - Kragthorpe's Boys Meet Some Vicious Felines [From Another State]
* Pittsburgh {Panthers} at Louisville {Cardinals}
This was the BCS match for tonight. It was Pittsburgh at Louisville. Pittsburgh is trying to keep pace in the Big East. Meanwhile, Louisville was trying to rediscover their dominance once Bobby Petrino left the 'Ville. The Cardinals of Louisville even had "The Ville" on their jerseys. Will a simple jersey change help beat the Steel City Kitties? The Panthers seek to roar loudly in Louisville. The boys in black and red were whooped up by the boys from Pittsburgh. Bad. (35-10; Pittsburgh)

Provo, Utah - One of Utah's Best Meet Utah's Worst
* Utah State (Aggies) at #20 BYU {Cougars}
Welcome to Provo, Utah. This is where BYU had their butts handed to by Florida State. Now, the boys from Provo are looking to help their Top 25 status. The Cougars are roaring loudly. They may get beat, but they still roar loudly. Utah State shows up, bringing the Aggies up north. Utah State University can be found in Logan(?), Utah. Logan, Utah was disappointed to see their boys get beaten by the boys from Provo in Provo. (35-17; #20 BRIGHAM YOUNG)

FCS Resumes Saturday
That game between Alcorn State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff last night was cancelled due to inclement weather. The score was 0-0. Fail?

--- Division 2 Scores ---
Only one score, and here it is:

* New Haven at Southern Connecticut (54-26; SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE)

--- Division 3 Scores ---
Three scores here. Check them out.

* New Jersey at Kean (28-7; KEAN)
* Widener at FDU-Florham (41-14; Widener
* Southern Virginia (non-NCAA) at Guilford (48-6; GUILFORD)

LOT of games on Saturday, as usual. Go out and go see a game this weekend! I may have trouble doing Saturday scores. The reason why is because of the likelyhood of showers and thunderstorms here in Houston this weekend. Not just Saturday, but also Sunday. I may not spend too much time and share too many scores in my next report. Always remember... no matter what I report, don't wait for my report from the day's action. Just come on in and chat about any games that interest you.

Have a great weekend! And for my fellow Southeast Texans on GTP... brace yourselves for some possibly rainy and miserable weather.

Good evening! For now, the probable heavy rain has stayed away from my area. So this gives me a chance to share some headlines. And here are some headlines for you:

* (MY GAME OF THE WEEK) LSU stands tall at Georgia.
* Boston College holds on at home against Florida State.
* Northwestern beats Purdue on the road
* Wisconsin christens Minnesota's new stadium with a Golden Gophers' loss.
* Alabama hammers Kentucky
* Miami University gets hammered by Cincinnati
* Michigan State and Michigan couldn't settle their differences in 60 minutes, so overtime was needed... and the Spartans won.

I'll talk about these games and more in my report, when it's done.

What I found odd about the Michigan v. Michigan State game was the with 5 minutes or so left MSU was beating U of M 20 to 6 and somehow the Wolverines managed to tie it up.

A good day of football in the Big 10 today :

9th ranked O.S.U. beats Indiana 33-14
13th ranked Iowa survives a scare from Arkansas State 24-21
Unranked Wisconsin (5-0 / 2-0 division) hang on for a 31-28 win over Minnesota
15th ranked Penn State goes into Illinois and wins easily 35-17
Northwestern holds of Purdue to win 27-21
Michigan State wins in O/T against 22nd rankedMichigan 26-20

For more detail about todays Big 10 games - go here

A few notes for next week's Big 10 :

Iowa should roll over Michigan - Michigan has Forcier,but lack of defense will hurt the Wolverines as they get into the heart of the Big 10 schedule.

Buckeyes go against the unbeaten Badgers of Wisconsin - should be a real good one there. outcome ?

Penn State up against Eastern Illinois - blowout for P.S.U. ?

Well, scratch Houston from the unbeaten list. We fell 58-41 at UTEP just now. Boise State and TCU won their games, so it's down to these two to determine who has a chance to play in a BCS Bowl.

It's either conference play or non-conference play. Time to get serious with this batch of tougher games. It's Saturday, it's October, let's make like Marvin Gaye and get it on!

--- Division FBS Scores ---
Source: http://www.ncaa.com/teams/m-footbl/scoreboards/all/all-d-fbs-scoreboard-week-09-28-2009.html

I had a tough time picking Game of the Week. So I'm going to start with some big games, then focus on three teams looking to crash the BCS party. So let's kick this off proper!

Athens, Georgia - Georgia Tries to Soften Up LSU for Florida Next Week
* #4 LSU {Tigers} at #18 Georgia {Bulldogs} --- GAME OF THE WEEK ---
Northern Georgia was pelted with rain last weekend. This weekend, Georgia hopes to rain all over LSU in hopes to upset the boys from Baton Rouge. The Bulldogs are going to try as hard as they can to bite the tails of the LSU Tigers. LSU was having none of that as a late spark vaulted LSU past Georgia.

Final:
#4 Louisiana State - 20
#18 Georgia - 13

Paul Bunyan must love the Big Ten. Here are two reasons why.

East Lansing Michigan - Forcier = the Truth? Michigan State Thinks Otherwise!
* #23 Michigan {Wolverines} at Michigan State {Spartans}
Michigan is currently unbeaten. But as we always say, throw out the record books in a rivalry game. The Wolverines will remain unbeaten if they get past Michigan State. The Spartans want the Paul Bunyan Trophy to themselves. Michigan just didn't have enough in the tank to stay unbeaten. The Spartans pulled off a huge win at home. (26-20, OT; MICHIGAN STATE)

Minneapolis, Minnesota - Minnesota Ready to Pound a Home Run Against Wisconsin, Cuddyer Style!
* Wisconsin {Badgers} at Minnesota {Golden Gophers}
If you fancy rodents, this is your game. TCF Bank Stadium is ready for its closeup, and so are the maroon and gold-clad Golden Gopher fans. The boys from Madison, Wisconsin want to add their two cents to the new football field. Wisconsin will gladly leave Minneapolis with Paul Bunyan's Axe, thank you very much. (31-28; Wisconsin)

OFF-TOPIC
Goldy (Minnesota's mascot) was shown wearing a Brett Favre Minnesota Vikings jersey, with the crowd (understandably) voicing their happiness. Bit of an odd moment.

Now, let's look at the three teams looking to crash the BCS party.

Boise, Idaho - Broncos Seek Stampede Against Some Aggies
* California-Davis {Aggies} at #5 Boise State {Broncos}
The Smurf Turf's ready to rock. Are you? The Broncos are looking to run all over UC-Davis. But, the Aggies will not back down. Boise State survived this scare to win. (34-16; #5 BOISE STATE)

Fort Worth, Texas - The Battle for Dallas-Fort Worth Pride
* SMU {Mustangs} at TCU {Horned Frogs}
The Iron Skillet is on the line! TCU and SMU clashed to see who's better than who. TCU remains unbeaten by taming the SMU Mustangs. The Horned Frogs still have a decisive match later this season at BYU. (39-14; #11 TEXAS CHRISTIAN)

El Paso, Texas - UTEP May be Sorry, but Houston Will be Sorry if They Lose
* #12 Houston {Cougars} at UTEP {Miners}
Before you play Mississippi State if you are Houston, you must first go through UTEP. The Cougars may have some premonition that they are looking at a trap game heading into next week's match in Starksville. The Miners are just looking to get more wins. Houston must have looked ahead to Mississippi State and forgot to keep UTEP pinned down. (58-41; TEXAS-EL PASO)

SIDE NOTE:
As much as I like the Houston Cougars, I don't think they are THAT good to be #12 in the nation. Polls are often times popularity contests. Remember how some voters wanted to give Appalachian State some FBS votes after they beat #5 Michigan two years ago? I don't think Houston is THAT good to even be among the Top 10, even despite knocking off Oklahoma State on the road and Texas Tech at home. Still, it was a great run. The worst news of this is that we're 0-1 in conference play now thanks to this loss. The last thing any team wants is to start in the conference with a losing record. It's not the end of the season... just the end of our unbeaten ways and almost any hopes of a BCS Bowl berth.

Now on to other games.

Miami, Florida - A 1980s Rivalry Reborn in the MIA
* #8 Oklahoma at #1? Miami {Hurricanes}
Land Shark (or LandShark) Stadium is Hurricanes' country, but it's also Miami Dolphins country. Oklahoma came to town, looking to complicate Miami's problems a little more. This would make a pretty good Orange Bowl match, as the Sooners are reluctant to tame the 'Canes. They didn't beat Virginia Tech, but Miami made Oklahoma a touch more overrated with a win like this. (21-20; #17 MIAMI)

Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts - Seminoles Ready to Play Duck Hunt Against the Eagles of B.C.
* Florida State {Seminoles} at Boston College {Eagles}
The Seminoles of Florida State are ready to scalp some Eagles. The Eagles of Boston College represent America's most popular and biggest Jesuit university in the United States. Boston College finished strong against Florida State to win. (28-21; BOSTON COLLEGE)

South Bend, Indiana - Washington Continues to Show Improvement, but Can They Take Down Notre Dame?
* Washington {Huskies} at Notre Dame {Fighting Irish}
South Bend, Indiana is home to perhaps the most famous Catholic university in the United States- the University of Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are rocking the gold domes in taking on the purple and gold from Seattle. The Washington Huskies are doing MUCH better than last season, and a win against the blue and gold boys would mean a whole lot for Washington's confidence. Washington took Notre Dame to the limit, but couldn't finish the job after sixty minutes. (37-30, OT; NOTRE DAME)

Palo Alto, California - SoCal Meets NoCal in a Matchup of Two Mediocre California Schools
* UCLA {Bruins} at Stanford {Cardinal}
I wonder if Condoleezza Rice will be watching this game, as she's a teacher at Stanford apart from her days as Secretary of State. The Cardinal is actually doing quite well. Not really the sorry Stanford of old. UCLA remains sorry as the Bruins couldn't hold a candle to the boys from Palo Alto. (24-16; STANFORD)

Lexington, Kentucky - Wildcats Seek Upset Against a Crimson-Hot Team
* #4 Alabama {Crimson Tide} at Kentucky {Wildcats}
Can the Kentucky Wildcats stun Alabama? I'm sure UK faithful (including our own FoolKiller) Would love to see the Crimson Tide get swamped in Kentucky blue. The only thing that got swamped was Kentucky and their fans. (38-20; #4 Alabama)

West Point, New York - Tulane's Losing Woes May End Along the Hudson River
* Tulane {Green Wave} at Army {Black Knights}
(17-16; Tulane)

Berkley, California - The Kings of the Bay Area Seek a Win Against the Cardinal and Gold Boys
* #7 USCal {Trojans} at #24 California {Golden Bears}
Berkley, California is a good distance away from the greater San Francisco area. Unfortunately, the Golden Bears are a good distance away from impressive. The Trojans more than likely will knock out California from the top 25 with this beatdown. (30-3; #7 Southern California)

Kansas City, Missouri - Arrowhead Ready for Some Collegiate Throwdown
* Kansas State {Wildcat} vs. Iowa State {Cyclones}
The Cyclones of Iowa State did nothing to blow away Kansas State's Wildcats. (24-23; Kansas State)

Champaign, Illinois - Penn State Seeks Rebound From Iowa Shocker
* #15 Penn State {Nittany Lions} at Illinois {Fighting Illini}
JoePa's Nittany Lions went into Illinois and did to the Fighting Illini that his team couldn't do against Iowa- win. (35-17; #15 Pennsylvania State)

College Park, Maryland - Mediocre Meets Mundane
* Clemson {Tigers} at Maryland {Terrapins}
Maryland's having a bad season, but the Terrapins made Clemson's Tigers look dumb. (24-21; MARYLAND)

Other Scores Nationide...
* Washington State at #16 Oregon (52-6; #16 OREGON)
* New Mexico State at San Diego State (34-17; SAN DIEGO STATE)
* Auburn at Tennessee (26-22; Auburn)
* #25 Georgia Tech at Missisippi State (42-31; #25 Georgia Tech)

* Temple at Eastern Michigan
* Arkansas State at #13 Iowa (24-21; #13 IOWA)
* #6 Virginia Tech at Duke (34-26; #6 Virginia Tech)
* Virginia at North Carolina (16-3; Virginia)

Now, it's time for Winners and Losers! I want you to tell me what you think is the biggest wins and biggest losses. From here on, I'll start with upset and ownage, then follow up with notable games.

My UPSET OF THE WEEK is...
...#6 James Madison falling to Unranked Hofstra!

The Dukes of James Madison University didn't leave Long Island with a win as the Hofstra Pride took care of business and defended home turf.

My OWNAGE OF THE WEEK is...
...Apprentice OWNED 77-7 at Salisbury State!

The margin of victory was 70 compared to the 69-point gap #8 Minnesota-Duluth put on Minnesota State-Moorhead. Apprentice just got their teeth knocked out. Plain and simple.

Now let me know what you thought were big wins and big losses. Just share what you think is the biggest win and biggest loss of these games. Here are some notables:

Winner and Loser Results of Note
* Wisconsin holds off Minnesota on the road.
* Houston fails to show up in the 2nd Half at UTEP, ending their BCS chances.
* Michigan unable to remain unbeaten heading up to Michigan State.
* Virginia Tech holding off Duke.
* Miami taking down Oklahoma. They don't beat VT, but Oklahoma went down.
* Iowa survives Arkansas State.
* Columbia pounds and blanks Princeton.
* Southern Utah handles #19 Texas State in FCS.
* #18 Ashland and #23 Saginaw Valley State respectively fall to two Michigan schools- Wayne State and Northern Michigan.

John's Student Lounge
To close out this week's scores, I was looking for a good remix of a song I've heard recently. I believe all songs are destined to be remixed. A good remix of one song will fill your ears with music. And here it is:

^ "Use Somebody" (CHEW FU Festival Mix), by Kings of Leon

That's all for this week. Next week's thread will come along (again) when it's done. Take care, everyone! And before I forget, I send my deepest thoughts and prayers to all affected from the tsunami in the South Pacific and the earthquakes in Indonesia.
