It's either conference play or non-conference play. Time to get serious with this batch of tougher games. It's Saturday, it's October, let's make like Marvin Gaye and get it on!

I had a tough time picking Game of the Week. So I'm going to start with some big games, then focus on three teams looking to crash the BCS party. So let's kick this off proper!
Athens, Georgia - Georgia Tries to Soften Up LSU for Florida Next Week
* #4 LSU {Tigers} at #18 Georgia {Bulldogs} --- GAME OF THE WEEK ---
Northern Georgia was pelted with rain last weekend. This weekend, Georgia hopes to rain all over LSU in hopes to upset the boys from Baton Rouge. The Bulldogs are going to try as hard as they can to bite the tails of the LSU Tigers. LSU was having none of that as a late spark vaulted LSU past Georgia.
Final:
#4 Louisiana State - 20
#18 Georgia - 13
Paul Bunyan must love the Big Ten. Here are two reasons why.
East Lansing Michigan - Forcier = the Truth? Michigan State Thinks Otherwise!
* #23 Michigan {Wolverines} at Michigan State {Spartans}
Michigan is currently unbeaten. But as we always say, throw out the record books in a rivalry game. The Wolverines will remain unbeaten if they get past Michigan State. The Spartans want the Paul Bunyan Trophy to themselves.
Michigan just didn't have enough in the tank to stay unbeaten. The Spartans pulled off a huge win at home. (26-20, OT; MICHIGAN STATE)
Minneapolis, Minnesota - Minnesota Ready to Pound a Home Run Against Wisconsin, Cuddyer Style!
* Wisconsin {Badgers} at Minnesota {Golden Gophers}
If you fancy rodents, this is your game. TCF Bank Stadium is ready for its closeup, and so are the maroon and gold-clad Golden Gopher fans. The boys from Madison, Wisconsin want to add their two cents to the new football field.
Wisconsin will gladly leave Minneapolis with Paul Bunyan's Axe, thank you very much. (31-28; Wisconsin)
OFF-TOPIC
Goldy (Minnesota's mascot) was shown wearing a Brett Favre Minnesota Vikings jersey, with the crowd (understandably) voicing their happiness. Bit of an odd moment.
Now, let's look at the three teams looking to crash the BCS party.
Boise, Idaho - Broncos Seek Stampede Against Some Aggies
* California-Davis {Aggies} at #5 Boise State {Broncos}
The Smurf Turf's ready to rock. Are you? The Broncos are looking to run all over UC-Davis. But, the Aggies will not back down.
Boise State survived this scare to win. (34-16; #5 BOISE STATE)
Fort Worth, Texas - The Battle for Dallas-Fort Worth Pride
* SMU {Mustangs} at TCU {Horned Frogs}
The Iron Skillet is on the line! TCU and SMU clashed to see who's better than who.
TCU remains unbeaten by taming the SMU Mustangs. The Horned Frogs still have a decisive match later this season at BYU. (39-14; #11 TEXAS CHRISTIAN)
El Paso, Texas - UTEP May be Sorry, but Houston Will be Sorry if They Lose
* #12 Houston {Cougars} at UTEP {Miners}
Before you play Mississippi State if you are Houston, you must first go through UTEP. The Cougars may have some premonition that they are looking at a trap game heading into next week's match in Starksville. The Miners are just looking to get more wins.
Houston must have looked ahead to Mississippi State and forgot to keep UTEP pinned down. (58-41; TEXAS-EL PASO)
SIDE NOTE:
As much as I like the Houston Cougars, I don't think they are THAT good to be #12 in the nation. Polls are often times popularity contests. Remember how some voters wanted to give Appalachian State some FBS votes after they beat #5 Michigan two years ago? I don't think Houston is THAT good to even be among the Top 10, even despite knocking off Oklahoma State on the road and Texas Tech at home. Still, it was a great run. The worst news of this is that we're 0-1 in conference play now thanks to this loss. The last thing any team wants is to start in the conference with a losing record. It's not the end of the season... just the end of our unbeaten ways and almost any hopes of a BCS Bowl berth.
Now on to other games.
Miami, Florida - A 1980s Rivalry Reborn in the MIA
* #8 Oklahoma at #1? Miami {Hurricanes}
Land Shark (or LandShark) Stadium is Hurricanes' country, but it's also Miami Dolphins country. Oklahoma came to town, looking to complicate Miami's problems a little more. This would make a pretty good Orange Bowl match, as the Sooners are reluctant to tame the 'Canes.
They didn't beat Virginia Tech, but Miami made Oklahoma a touch more overrated with a win like this. (21-20; #17 MIAMI)
Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts - Seminoles Ready to Play Duck Hunt Against the Eagles of B.C.
* Florida State {Seminoles} at Boston College {Eagles}
The Seminoles of Florida State are ready to scalp some Eagles. The Eagles of Boston College represent America's most popular and biggest Jesuit university in the United States.
Boston College finished strong against Florida State to win. (28-21; BOSTON COLLEGE)
South Bend, Indiana - Washington Continues to Show Improvement, but Can They Take Down Notre Dame?
* Washington {Huskies} at Notre Dame {Fighting Irish}
South Bend, Indiana is home to perhaps the most famous Catholic university in the United States- the University of Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are rocking the gold domes in taking on the purple and gold from Seattle. The Washington Huskies are doing MUCH better than last season, and a win against the blue and gold boys would mean a whole lot for Washington's confidence.
Washington took Notre Dame to the limit, but couldn't finish the job after sixty minutes. (37-30, OT; NOTRE DAME)
Palo Alto, California - SoCal Meets NoCal in a Matchup of Two Mediocre California Schools
* UCLA {Bruins} at Stanford {Cardinal}
I wonder if Condoleezza Rice will be watching this game, as she's a teacher at Stanford apart from her days as Secretary of State. The Cardinal is actually doing quite well. Not really the sorry Stanford of old.
UCLA remains sorry as the Bruins couldn't hold a candle to the boys from Palo Alto. (24-16; STANFORD)
Lexington, Kentucky - Wildcats Seek Upset Against a Crimson-Hot Team
* #4 Alabama {Crimson Tide} at Kentucky {Wildcats}
Can the Kentucky Wildcats stun Alabama? I'm sure UK faithful (including our own
FoolKiller) Would love to see the Crimson Tide get swamped in Kentucky blue.
The only thing that got swamped was Kentucky and their fans. (38-20; #4 Alabama)
West Point, New York - Tulane's Losing Woes May End Along the Hudson River
* Tulane {Green Wave} at Army {Black Knights}
(17-16; Tulane)
Berkley, California - The Kings of the Bay Area Seek a Win Against the Cardinal and Gold Boys
* #7 USCal {Trojans} at #24 California {Golden Bears}
Berkley, California is a good distance away from the greater San Francisco area. Unfortunately, the Golden Bears are a good distance away from impressive.
The Trojans more than likely will knock out California from the top 25 with this beatdown. (30-3; #7 Southern California)
Kansas City, Missouri - Arrowhead Ready for Some Collegiate Throwdown
* Kansas State {Wildcat} vs. Iowa State {Cyclones}
The Cyclones of Iowa State did nothing to blow away Kansas State's Wildcats. (24-23; Kansas State)
Champaign, Illinois - Penn State Seeks Rebound From Iowa Shocker
* #15 Penn State {Nittany Lions} at Illinois {Fighting Illini}
JoePa's Nittany Lions went into Illinois and did to the Fighting Illini that his team couldn't do against Iowa- win. (35-17; #15 Pennsylvania State)
College Park, Maryland - Mediocre Meets Mundane
* Clemson {Tigers} at Maryland {Terrapins}
Maryland's having a bad season, but the Terrapins made Clemson's Tigers look dumb. (24-21; MARYLAND)
Other Scores Nationide...

* New Mexico State at San Diego State (34-17; SAN DIEGO STATE)
