It looks like we're heading into November, and you know what that means? It means it's time to talk about All-Americans, bigtime rivalries, Bowl Game bids, and more. Instead of starting with action from my hometown of Houston, TX, USA, I'll start with some of the bigger rivalries. I'll start with Division 1-A games complete with titles, a score (if I have one for you), and who won. Now when you look in the [brackets], the Home Team will be in CAPS, while the Away Team will be in regular lettering. I think the sad thing here is that I don't have a lot of Division 1-AA and lower games. I'll provide as many scores and results as I can, since getting every stat for every game is even more challenging than coming up with all these general results in the first place. But of course, you can always look at the NCAA Football website at
(http://www.ncaafootball.net) for more scores.

THE STORYLINE:

GTPlanet, you may wonder why I called this weekend "The Fall From Grace." That is because TWO OF THE TOP 5 TEAMS IN AMERICA fell from grace. Two of the Top 5 teams were un-undefeated in bigtime upsets. Two teams knocked off these two college powerhouses. Two wonderful programs from the Top 5 fell from the top thanks to two unranked teams. And saying that this weekend is Halloween weekend, while some teams were treated, some were tricked. College football is getting more exciting in the coming November. Games of mention will include the Michigan/Ohio State game, the Iron Bowl, the Egg Bowl, the Lone Star Showdown, the Army-Navy Game, and more. But before we get to November, let's get this week down. So read on!

SELECT DIVISON 1-A GAMES
* "Bedlam Barnburner" [38-35, Oklahoma] Michigan wasn't the only in-state rival game this weekend. Ready for a little battle between the Oklahoma Sooners and Oklahoma State Cowboys. Last year, OU spanked Okla St. 52-9. This year, they win again, but by at least a touchdown.
* "Getting Technical" Virginia Tech hit "the ATL" against Georgia Tech. For a while, GT had the edge over #22nd (?) ranked Virginia Tech. But a surge in the second half seen the Hokies fight back in a winning effort to shut down the GT Yellow Jackets.
* "Bronco Stampede" [69-3 BOISE STATE] Timmy Chang is trying to go for the most passing yards for the University of Hawaii. Instead, the Warriors were trampled hard by the Boise State Broncos.
* "Later, Gator!" You were probably invited to the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. If you were invited to the party and you like Florida, it's a sad day. If you were invited to the party and you like Georgia, you've had the time of your life.
* "Perfect Ten" [43-29 tenn] Tennessee took down the other USC, the University of South Carolina Gamecocks in a shootout of a game.
* "Who Wants Paul Bunyan?" [45-37 (3OT); MICHIGAN] It was a triple-overtime thriller in Ann Arbor as Michigan met hosted its in-state rival, Michigan State. The game ended on a crucial 4th down for Michigan State as MSU couldn't seem to hook up with one of their wide-outs.
* "Boiling Mad" [13-10; NORTHWESTERN] Purdue has now lost three games in a row as they fall like dominoes to the Northwestern Wildcats.
* "Unwise Owls" [35-30; West Virginia] West Virginia and Rutgers in this East Coast battle. With West Virginia in the Top 25, they need to win to sta alive, and they did... all the way to a win.
* "Hoo-sier Daddy?" [30-??; INDIANA] You know, Indiana's logo looks more like a trident, which is like a pitchfork. And apparentely, that's the same way Indiana was able to take down the ranked team, Minnesota.
* "Heroes in a Half Shell" OH MY GOD! Maryland pulled a big upset over #5 Florida State. When you're one of the Top 10 teams, if you're taken down, you're going down pretty damn hard. And once BCS ratings are in, Florida State most likely won't stay #5, even with strength of schedule and losses not a part of ratings anymore.
* "Red Hot" The Houston Cougars are looking to take down the Tulane Green Wave. The boys from H-town won the war over the Green Wave with a 21-point victory. Houston goes to 2-6 as their last toughest game will be against Louisville. That's later this year, though.
* "Ruthless Aggiegression" [35-34; OT; BAYLOR] Texas A&M hit it off against the Baylor Bears in this Big XII South game. The game was heated as it went into overtime and in the end, Baylor pulled it out against Texas A&M. Texas A&M faces Oklahoma. And if you remember last year, OU MURDERED A&M 77-0. That's 11 touchdowns in one game with all extra points! Will things get uglier this year? Find out in my next report!
UTEP def. San Jose State
* "Falcon Hunt" Wyoming's Cowboys defeats the Air Force Falcons in this Mountain West battle.
* "Carolina Shootout" [31-28; NORTH CAROLINA] UPSET!!! Bring down them goalposts, baby! The game was a wild shootout in college basketball country- the University of North Carolina. The game was a wild shootout for NC like for their big rivalry against Duke. The Duke here was Miami of Florida. As the shootout hit the 4 second mark, all it took was one field goal to win it all- and NC now upsetted TWO teams this year. First NC State, now Miami. If you got ESPN Classic, don't be surprised if you see this as an "Instant Classic."
* "Flashes of Greatness" Kent State defeats the Ohio Bobcats.
* "Not In Kansas Anymore..." The Red Raiders from Lubbock, TX, USA (Texas Tech) went north to the "Little Apple," Manhattan, KS, USA (Kansas State). Big XII South meets the defending Big XII Champions, Kansas State. KSU couldn't quite take down Texas Tech.
* "Cadillac Rolls On" [35-14; Auburn] The Auburn Tigers told the Rebels to take a hike, and they did. They've run the table so far and pulled off a perfect win streak en route to the SEC Championship game in Atlanta, GA, USA.
* "Brick House" [24-7; LOUISIANA STATE] LSU defeats Tennessee's Vanderbilt at home. The Commodores couldn't stop the LSU Tigers.

MY COMMENTARY

UPSET OF THE WEEK: North Carolina defeated the Miami Hurricanes in North Carolina.
MOST DISAPPOINTING LOSS: All three Florida powerhouses (University of Florida, Florida State University, and the University of Miami) have all lost for the third time since the last time (October 14, 1978).
BIGGEST WIN: The Baylor Bears beat Texas A&M in overtime by one. That win will give Texas A&M some troubles heading into next weekend.
OWNED!!! OF THE WEEK: No question. It's the game between Hawaii at Boise State. The BSU dealt no BS to Hawaii, beating them to a whopping 69-3. That's an OWN job in my book!

Week 11 starts up the November swing. See you next weekend!

I dreaming of a National Campionship for Auburn. I know they have a long way to go and need people to lose but I can almost smell it. I mean they better win with their two outstanding running backs, who I think might both be picked in the first round of this years NFL draft.

Nice to know someone's reading my quick reports on almost every Div. 1-A game and select 1-AA games.

Let me tell you something, PhatFat. I'm following Tennesee this year (enjoying it). But with Auburn taking down opposition across the SEC, I'd give #1 to Auburn, if not #2. At the same time, I'd still want to see USC vs. LSU. Maybe we'll see that next season before all the in-conference games start up. I think Auburn will at least make the BCS bowl games if not next year's Orange Bowl.

Here's a college football note. 77-0. Oklahoma OWNING Texas A&M. This weekend, I hope to give you the general rundown on Week 11. And here's a stat I may have not given out. Six of the Top 25 teams fell this past weekend. Imagine that. And let's not forget my "Most Disappointing Loss" deal I came up with. All three Florida powerhouses fell today:

Florida => def. by Georgia
Florida State => def. by Maryland
Miami (FL) => def. by North Carolina

Let's see how they do things this weekend. Just look for my report come this Saturday.
