Duke cancelled their season after there were reports of a stripper being raped. The DNA results proved negative recently. I don't know the latest, but Duke's season is over. If you want to share your thoughts, I've created this thread to talk about the trouble facing Duke. What do you make of all of this?

I'm pretty sure the girl is lying and trying to use the race card to get as much money as possible out of it. There was no DNA evidence, and there were photographs taken of her before the party in which she was already bruised. If they really did it, I hope they're prosecuted to the full extent. But I think that she is just in this for the money.

Recent reports indicate that even though no DNA proved positive, two Duke lacrosse players have been indicted. Formal annoucement should be later today (considering today is Tuesday as of this typing). Duke's in a rare place- trouble. Unless of course, they've been involved in other sports scandals.

Yeah, I just read about that this morning. As I said, if those two are guilty, what they did was awful, and I hope they rot in prison for it, but if she's lying, I'm going to be pissed off. I still don't think it means anything yet even though they've been arrested, I guess we'll see after the trial.

You may want to consider getting this thread moved to the current events forum, since it has very little to do with actual sports, and this forum gets very little traffic.

I found this interesting from the beginning. How will Jesse Jackson react now? Before he was quite adamant in providing a defense and a college fund for the girl. Now it turns out she not only was lying, but acted bordering on Prostitution.

How big of a settlement do you think the players and coach have coming?

Jesse Jackson simply won't say anything and the media will accept that.

The players probably won't get much since their parents are fairly "well off".

But the DA that got this case going should go to jail.

Just my thoughts. :)

In the end, these 3 guys names will be forever tainted because of something they never did.
Quick, without looking it up, what are their names?

They'll be fine as long as they don't talk about playing Lacrosse at Duke. If anything the team will be tainted because everything in the media was "The Duke Lacrosse Rape Case."

Good point. But that's not something that would be wise to leave off a resume. Especially after just leaving school.

I don't know. In this case I would be afraid that my resume would actually be seen as:

Extracurricular Activities:
Duke Lacrosse RAPE CASE Team 2004-2007

I feel you. But at their age if it's on the resume, people will just assume they were either on that team or one of the accused.

They could always list their second extracurricular activity as independent legal studies.
