I'm a mechanical engineering student, I started Fall 2011 and was feeling the same way as you - nervous. But now that my first quarter is done I can say it's been an amazing experience so far. This is the first time I've lived on my own and I've changed for the better in many ways. Of course it depends on where you're going but most likely you'll have a great experience. Just remember to put grades before anything else and don't get behind.

If you ever want to talk or need advise - just PM me, I'd love to help! :)

The one thing I learned from my college experience is that I need to hire a wife.

Spring break time, woo!

#SB2012!!!

Looking forward to a week of absolutely nothing. Might be driving the Tail of the Dragon though...

Back on topic: your professor might assign something due the Sunday night before break ends and not tell you about it :grumpy:

Currently at college now, and enjoying every minute of it. It's nothing like school, here everybody is very casual and easy going.

The women here are actually able to communicate with you without saying "like oh my god" etc. The only thing what sucks is the study load, but that's par for the course.

Expect to be invited to some "girl" experiments too, ha. They are awesome :sly:

Seems like an interesting thread; don't know about you guys but the fact that college guys have more free time than anyone else doesn't count for me. In fact I don't have much free time for myself since mid-term exams are very common (,in addition to their brutality :indiff:) and so far I have never met anyone who passed them all before summer brake. Any thoughts ?

I'm taking an Aviation degree at the local community college. The work I'm doing isn't necessarily hard per se, but holy crap there's a lot of it.

I'm missing out on some university experiences, namely the whole independence aspect, but I don't think that makes the work any easier. If anything it makes it harder because you've got all the amenities of home ready to distract you, whereas if I were on my own I'd be less comfortable lounging around and more likely to get at my classwork to occupy myself.

Because I had been out of school for a few year my first few quarters in college were packed full of busy work and review. Now that I'm in my second year the work is much more focused and I've made friends with other students and instructors in our tightly knit program.

Once I get the math and physics out of the way for the Associate's degree I'm curious what I'll have to deal with when I transfer. Depending on what I do I can imagine anything from a bunch of business classes to a more engineering-biased aviation concentration. Hell, I don't know. At this point all it is to me is a few more years of being broke.

I do agree on that since I also find difficult to conform with family needs while keeping up with hard work which requires every inch of my brain cells. I'm currently on Public Finances associate-degree college (or university depending what is a standard for your country) and once I get a degree I'll be able to work in a public administration of Croatia.

I must say that you can acquire a lot of knowledge which is very helpful these days but sometimes lot of painful details must be learned which doesn't leave me enough room to learn crucial informations. That might lead to campaign-method learning so in order to avoid that I need to spend every possible minute to be in front of a book.
