A thread like this may already exist, but the search found nothing. If so, give me the link and close this thread.

The endurance and grip levels of different tires have bothered me for a long time. I made this thread to find out the relative grip levels and endurances of different tyre types. Is N3 grippier than S1? Do the N1 tires last longer than anything else? And so on. If we can gather some decent information, I'll make lists on this first post.

Discuss.

Excellent idea for a post....I was going to ask something similar....good thing I did a search first.

This is a little "off topic" but still seems to be in the spirit of the type of info you're looking for.

I ran a b-spec arcade race with S1 tires. The competition had S2's. I had my driver set on 3. He was losing time but I thought tire wear may eliminate a pit stop. The S2's on the AI's lead car actually lasted one lap longer than the S1's on my "AI" driver's car. Also in some shorter races I've run (a-spec) it seems that the S1's wear as quickly as the S2's. The S2's do feel grippyer. Less grip, same "life". If this is true why would anyone ever use S1's? Has anyone else noticed this?

I plan to do some a-spec testing in races long enough to require a pit to see if my findings are consistent...I'll report back.

Scaff, this thread has nothing to do with real world figures, I just wanted to find out how Gran Turismo tires perform compared to each other.

Make your post the new thread it was supposed to be so it'll get the reputation it deserves. 👍

All Done 👍

Some Sport Tire Data

Arcade Mode - Single Race
Apricot Hill
Difficulty 4
TCS / ASM = OFF
1965 Shelby Mustang GT350R, 275HP (HTAS Spec for Mustang)

S1 Tires
18 Laps (absolute last lap -- in a race probably should pit after 17)
Best Lap 1'39.550

S2 Tires
17 Laps (absolute last lap -- in a race probably should pit after 16)
Best Lap 1'37.285

S3 Tires
11 Laps (absolute last lap -- in a race probably should pit after 10)
Best Lap 1'36.454

As there was competition on the track lap times should possibly be ignored...I feel like I got a little drafting help when the car was shod in S2s that I didn't get when it had S1s and S3s. A better indicator of grip would probably result from time trialing.

This is a good measure of tire life. The S1 and S2 are basically equal. S2s have about the same life and better grip. Why would anybody want to use S1s? I have heard that S1s might more accurately represent "track tires". So maybe to simulate actual racing conditions (in non-race cars)?

Excellent goixoye 👍 and thanks!

Now if you have some more time would you please be kind enough to test the normal tires too? It has to be done by you as the car and the driving style mustn't change from the sports test.
