It does understeer, but that's because the AWD system is too lawyer-friendly. It's also a dead ride: you feel speed only above 100MPH, and turns are...uneventful. But it's not Porsche. I think the original S1 had some Porcshe bits, but it was mostly Audi. Some suspension & brake components may have been Porsche, but that's about it. The inline-5 kinda gives it all away....

hmm but can you buy it with a 6 speed manual ? NOPE! The E39 5 Series is little dated it was introduced in 1996 in Europe. I hope BMW doesn't make the new 5 ugly like the new 7 series. I like driving my 1997 528i.

Nor is it aimed at the same market the 5-series is.
