Computer hacking?

Can you expand on this?
I understand going through trash etc but couldn't someone still try and hack?
Unless you mean hypothetically having a computer that never connected to wireless sources?

Your right I'm not fully aware of the ways for people to compromise your personal details(on computers),hence why I made this thread.
I'm trying to explore and become more tech savvy when it comes to things like this,so I'm prepared and have some idea of what to do and find any clues about people trying to hack my computer etc.
But I realise there's a lot more to it than I thought.
I thought I'd post on GTP because I've had help off people here before and I'm pretty sure the people here are honest and helpful.
I can expand on that, remember when the PSN went down? How about all of the info stolen recently from target? Perhaps the SSH hack that was recently exploited? These are the places hackers go to steal info, easy targets. Large stacks of personal info. The squeeze of hacking into a personal computer to get one, maybe two peoples info isn't worth the juice. You are being overly paranoid. Even on a wireless router that is running a passcode would take hours of work to get into. Sorry, but I don't think you are that important to anyone other than maybe your mom, perhaps a wife. Hackers going after people's info have faster and safer means to do this. And if your worried about your IP getting out, look up TOR proxy, you can build one from a raspberry pi for about $35, that will mask your IP, so no one knows it's you.

I understand,I heard that the PSN was hacked because of dated protection, also that updating everything concerning security on your computer is a must.
Imagine if someone hacked into PayPal?
I actually use the TOR browser sometimes but of course there are drawbacks because it blocks cookies javascript etc,but is good for general webpages though.
Also I'm looking for reassurance when it comes to computer security,so perhaps that's why I sound so paranoid.:D
I'm starting to get a good idea of how and what hackers do and that's very helpful. :)
